Dear beloved clients, I will be closing my books to new clients for a unknown period of time while I go back to school and work on building my experience in the field.

Thank you to all who have supported me and made me a better trainer, I look forward to the day I can reopen my books and work with more wonderful dogs and clients 💞

**Please note all CURRENT clients will still continue training until your dog graduates**

However, while I am in school I will be doing pet sitting through Rover to the public so I can still interact with dogs in the community. For more information about that you can look here

I am a certified dog trainer, as well a a past vet assistant. I have volunteered with and worked with animals for the last 5 years. I have experience training, bathing, medicating, feeding, walking, and all basic care needs! I am currently only working 10 hours a week total, so plenty of time to c.....

A wonderful muzzle free interaction between demo dog Lucy and Apollo! 💜

This is Apollo. A long time client who recently has made huge progress in his training. He was assumed to be dog aggressive due to a reported bite at a dog daycare.

Today he has made huge progress with his behavior training!

When properly assessed it was discovered he isn’t dog aggressive, just has some reactivity and isn’t sure how to appropriately play with other dogs.

Using demo dog Lucy and a muzzle for safety we have successfully made it possible for them to interact calmly and confidently.

**Please do not attempt to do this unless under the supervision and Instruction of a dog trainer**

Let’s talk muzzles!

There is a lot of controversy around muzzles as a whole due to the assumption that a muzzled dog is an aggressive dog. This is absolutely not true!

Muzzles can be used for:
- Emergencies (when injured severely even the sweetest dogs first instinct may be to bite due to pain)
- Playing with another dog (Some dogs are just intense players, and muzzles keep everyone safe)
- Introducing the dog to new people (Some dogs are people shy, or nervous and a muzzle can help them feel more secure, or allow them to safely meet a new person)

And so many more reason!

I personally muzzle train both Lucy and Pippin for emergency situations!

Here is something that is essential to having a well balanced dog that many people don’t do!

Practicing CALM behavior in public!

Many people are so excited to take their dog out to meet new people that they forget to practice calm behavior!

Today we took demo dog in training Pippin out to San Clemente outlets to practice just that!

Tick season is here! Protect your fur babies!

Make sure they are on preventative and have a tick removal kit handy!

Ticks can carry various diseases that can cause serious harm if gone untreated! Ask your vet about canine Lyme disease vaccines and tick disease tests so you know your options!

Let’s talk dogs weights!

Obesity in domestic animals has always been a problem. on social media obesity is also seen as “cute” which has led to a lot of obese animals not get the proper care they need.

Keeping your dog fit or pet weight is important for their long term health! As owners it is our responsibilities to keep our pets as healthy and happy for as long as possible!

If you ever question your dogs weight and need help please let me know or contact your veterinary (keeping in mind some vets will not tell owners if their dogs are obese to avoid backlash)!

If your dog isn’t prone to eating things this may be a good enrichment activity for them!

Let them destroy something! We let them destroy cardboard and water bottles!

We do this a lot in my house, it helps build confidence and encourage curiosity while also keeping them entertained for a bit!

For us there are rules to playing with cardboard and plastic water bottles.

1. if you eat it you loose it
2. only chew on stuff we purposely leave out for them
3. keep it where we can watch you (we have them keep in the living room)

And that’s it, everything else is up to the dogs! My youngest has the most fun with the water bottle!

*I WOULD NOT DO THIS WITH DOGS THAT ARE PRONE TO EATING THINGS, OR DOGS THAT RESOURCE GUARD*

This is Murphy! He is my most recent board and train!

Murphy came to me to mainly focus on his confidence. Before he would lay down outside and refuse to move or constantly ask to be picked up because he was just so terrified. Loud noises would make him bolt and shake.

During his 2.5 week stay with me he has learned lay down, crate, pottying outside consistently, loading into the car, refining his sit, and learning to walk outside and face the world.

Both myself and Murphys parents are very proud of the dog he has become, and the trust he has put in us to allow us to help him 💞

Please enjoy a few photos of his stay with me and look for a future post of how he is doing now that he is with his family!

*All of our board and train dogs are treated like family, they have the same rules, expectations, and structure as my own dogs. They are allowed to interact with my husband, my dogs, and our close friends who occasionally come over. They go on adventures with us as a family, and enjoy snuggles and snacks often.*

Lucy is a great example of hard work pays off.

Lucy relied on an e-collar anytime she was off leash for years, with a little more knowledge and experience under my belt, along with hard work from both of us she has earned the freedom to work off leash in a multitude of different environments and distraction levels. We will continue to work together and improve our skills as a team 💪🏻

No dog is perfect! Training never stops! There is always room for improvement!

Introducing the hearts and minds behind Lucys Lucky Pups:

* Lydia- Certified dog trainer. Lydia is a 20yr old certified dog trainer who has worked in the animal field for over 3yrs. In 2021 she become certified as a veterinary assistant in the state of Florida, and worked in multiple veterinary clinics as both a vet assistant and a kennel technician. She became certified to train dogs January 7th 2023.
* Johnathan- Husband/Behind the scenes helper. Johanthan is Lydia’s beloved husband who helps her with her business behind the scenes and is constant encouragement in her strive to achieve her goals.
* Lucy- Demo Dog/Business Inspiration. Lucy is a 6yr old Australian Cattle dog mix that Lydia’s family adopted when she was only 8 months old. Lucy was Lydia’s first intro to trianing dogs, they learned a lot together and have worked hard to get to the level they are at. Lucy has arthritis in her hips and wrists but that doesn’t stop her from weekly hikes and sports!
* Pippin- Demo Dog trainee. Pippin is the newest addition to the family. At 7 months old pippins was adopted from a rescue facility here in California to be a demo dog once Lucy retires, so far she is doing great in his training and his future looks bright.
