NY Anglers - get your comments and opinions in now!

Time is running out to comment on NY's proposed regulation change that will allow wild trout to be caught and their redds trampled during the spawning season. There are some good parts to these proposed changes, but if the bad parts go through the rest might not matter.

The articles the DEC cited in the proposal to say the impact wouldn't matter are studies done on the Yellowstone and Snake Rivers. Those rivers don't have over 20 million people within a 2 hour drive and I doubt they'd get anywhere near the pressure in the fall and winter that rivers like the Upper Delaware would get.

One of the Yellowstone/Snake River studies has mortality from wading alone at 9.3% of the eggs laid. The authors of that study specifically state that 'mortality was low because of the closure of 12 of 26 km of the river, which protected 60% of the redds'. I'm not sure how NYDEC came to the conclusion that opening the water to year round trout angling would be okay. Even so, who'd want to lose almost 10% of the wild trout spawn to angling pressure? That's a loss in addition to natural loses from predators, low water, high water and other events. You need the fish and the fish need you. Please send you comments today. Thanks.

Bella got a little too many treats yesterday during training, we tried some new ones to keep her interested. She was pretty distracted with the adorable toy poodle and just wouldn’t concentrate. Well, she got a little bit of runny p**p. I‘m thinking oh no, it’s gonna be a long night, did she pick up something from another dog at play time, will she get dehydrated? That mix of worry and dread. I broke a capsule of Gastro Pro Plus into her kibble, this morning her p**ps are perfectly normal. Whew! Crisis averted. I had her on it for about a week initially because her farts could clear a room! Took the stank away in just a day, and she seems much more comfortable when on it.
