Welcome to training camp little man!

This guy is here for some socialization, potty training, crate training, and obedience.

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to shape a young pups life in a positive direction.

COVID style puppy socialization 101.

Aka ways to socialize your puppy without having to leave your house.

Positive exposure to everyday household objects is often an overlooked part of socialization.

The vacuum cleaner, the blender, the washing machine, trash bags, cupboards shutting, items falling on the floor, etc.

These kiddos are 9 weeks old, and every single day we are challenging them with something new, noisy, strange, or that we otherwise want then to feel comfortable with.

Today their dinner was paired with some household chores, and they learned how to not care about the vacuum cleaner at all.

Start with the vacuum cleaner not running, then running but holding still, then moving just a little bit, then moving all over the place.

Make it a bit harder for your puppy as you go - as long as they are comfortable with it!

I tossed kibble pieces all over the floor for these puppies to vacuum up (😂) while I ran the vacuum cleaner.

Have you socialized your puppy today?

Have you introduced them to something new?

Are you worried about getting them sick since they aren't vaccinated?

Are you worried about socialization while social distancing?

Thankfully, a majority of good socialization does NOT involve meeting new people or taking your puppy to dog parks and exposing them to disease.

All you need are some snacks, some new items, and a fun new experience for them!

Follow the page for more socialization tips and tricks!

Berkeley made a new friend!

It's so important for puppies to be socialized and have plenty of positive experiences while they are young.

Preventing fear, stress, aggression, and anxiety. One day at a time. ❤️

7 weeks and 1 day.

That's how long this little guy has been on this earth.

And today he gets to meet and socialize with the chickens!

It's so important for puppies to be exposed to a variety of new situations. And for those experiences to be largely positive.

Even if Berkeley never goes to a home with chicken friends... These experiences will help create environmental stability, and optimism in future experiences. 🐾

The prettiest girl in the world. ❤️

5 months old and impressing me more and more every day.

Say hello to Parker!

This kid is here to get a kickstart on his socialization and obedience.

He's making friends and learning new tricks. He's so smart!

27/08/2020

Today the puppies were introduced to the bum scooter (you know, the thing you used to ride around on in gym class as a kid 😅).

They each took a turn driving this thing around the house a few times.

At first they were cautious of it, but after a few minutes (and some snacks!), they figured out how fun this contraption is.

Socialization isn't just about doggy playdates and going to pet stores.

THIS is socialization too.

(Bonus points for not even having to put pants on to do this with your puppy).

Ryn takes her guarding duties very seriously.

Mighty Mouse went to his forever home this week, and I am so so happy that I was able to play a part in his journey.

He left here with many new puppy life skills that will help him live his best life. ❤️

29/07/2020

It's a great day to cool off in the shade. ☀️😎

Ryn comes out with me every day to "supervise" the garden and the chickens.

She is a livestock guardian dog breed, and she's well in tune with her "job"!

Mighty Mouse has been working hard on his training and socialization!

Now he's on the hunt for a great family to call his own.

Summers in the Carolinas get hot 🥵.

That's why socialization to water is something I do with EVERY. SINGLE. PUPPY.

They become more comfortable to the things they are exposed to in a positive way during their socialization window (which closes at 16 weeks!).

I want all of my puppies and dogs to be empowered to know how to cool themselves off in the summer heat.

Being afraid of water makes that significantly harder.

Ryn has been exposed gently to water, sprinklers, puddles, and the kiddie pool.

Now, on a hot summer day, she'll hop in all by herself and enjoy how nice the water feels. 🌊

What is going on with your ears Felix?

Sometimes we find ourselves going crazy trying to find new ways to keep our dogs and puppies entertained.

Sometimes you have what feels like 3,987 things on our to do lists.

Sometimes we just want our pup to CALM DOWN for just a bit.

Sometimes that's me too.

Around here, we do Easter egg hunts for all of the puppies (and some trustworthy adults).

This morning I put down fresh straw for them in the puppy yard (yes, they have their own yard, spoiled puppies!).

Then, I took their breakfast and scattered it all over the fresh straw, and they got to work!

We've done lots of Easter egg hunts before with these pups, so they are always excited to hunt for their food.

These kiddos will be busy calmly hunting out every bite for 20-30 minutes.

It engages their brain (a good thing)!

It engages their nose (also a good thing).

It gets them nice and ready for a nap, because after all that hunting they're ready to settle down for a snooze.

All I have to do is hang out supervising, while I drink my morning coffee. I still need to be here to prevent any shenanigans.

Easter egg hunts are a fabulous way to build confidence in dogs and puppies (start easy, than make it harder).

It's also a great way to promote exploratory behavior, which is especially good for anxious or nervous dogs.

And... It's a great way to socialize puppies to any new thing you can imagine!

Neighbors pulling in their trash cans? Easter egg hunt with your puppy while they do.

Vacuuming your house? Set up an Easter egg hunt in the other room for your puppy.

Running the blender? Set up an Easter egg hunt in your kitchen (or the other room if you don't want puppy in the kitchen).

The uses are endless, and the benefits are amazing.

Give it a shot, do an Easter egg hunt (or a few) today with some treats or your pups food, and relax for a few minutes while they entertain themselves. 🐾

Building better puppies.

That's what we're doing right here. ❤️

Enjoying our July 4th with all of these wonderful little souls.

Helping them to feel good about the world we live in.. along with all the boom-boom sounds that it comes with.

I want these puppies to be confident.

To be comfortable.

To look at the world through an optimistic lens.

If I can help prevent unnecessary stress, fear, or suffering for them...

That's what I'm going to do.

By taking the world - as it is RIGHT NOW - and helping them feel comfortable in it.

That.... Is what socialization is all about.

Happy 4th everybody. 🇺🇲

Teaching puppies to be calm AND comfortable in any environment is what I do best.

Felix found himself a cozy little corner under the bench while we were out today eating delicious food from .

Lots of snacks, and lots of guidance made this a fun and happy field trip for him. ❤️

Fireworks....

It's a topic that surges across social media and your neighborhood apps.

Every. Single. Year.

Some love fireworks... Because America! Because freedom! Because tradition! Because fun!

To some... All of those reasons don't even come close to making up for the stress that they feel about fireworks.

No matter where you fall on that spectrum, I think we can all agree that we don't WANT for our dogs to be so afraid that they hide in a corner and tremble for the entire month of July.

We love them. We don't want them to feel that way.

Some people might just wish for everyone else to "get over it".

Some people might just wish that fireworks would disappear and never come back. That they could get some sleep. That they knew how to make their dogs feel better.

No matter what we wish for..

Fireworks are here to stay.

At least for now.

Knowing that, we want to do everything that we can to help our dogs feel better.

Because it happens. Every. Single. Year.

We love our dogs. So while we may not be able to control our neighbors, or ban fireworks...

We CAN help our dogs feel better.

We can take action NOW to make it easier on them.

Because we love our dogs.

"It's not possible." Some say.

"I've tried everything." Some say.

I say bullcrap.

It IS possible!

If it weren't... I wouldn't have had the opportunity already to have helped dozens of dogs overcome their fear of fireworks (and thunderstorms too!).

We love our dogs.

I love your dogs.

Let me help you help them.

Send me a message and let's connect.

Little Mouse is growing up and glowing up. 🤩

With some special care and a few spa days, this little dude is growing a healthier, silky smooth new coat to replace brittle and dry puppy fuzz that he came with.

He's no longer a flea bag, and he is absolutely the sweetest.

He LOVES training, is the perfect cuddle buddy, and I could not be more honored to help him along on his journey of finding the perfect forever family.

He's still got some training school lessons to complete, a visit with the doc to make sure he's as healthy as can be, and then he'll be searching for the people who are just right for him. ❤️

Very.... Very carefully.
