Tough News, after trying yet again to get a litter and Dixie still being open we decided we aren't going to continue trying. As big of a dream as it's been for me to pursue collie puppies since I was little and doing all the research, testing, and preparing to be able to put out quality dogs and not just popping out puppies from just any dog; this just isn't in the cards for us. There's been several breeders pop up since we decided to do this journey the dog market has dropped on these dogs due to this, and breeders selling with full registrations and more and more breeders keep popping up. When we started this journey there was only 1 well known breeder in the state and we wanted to be able to provide Kansas with another option for this amazing breed.

With sadness we'd like to announce Dixie is not expecting a litter, we waited awhile for our stud to figure out his job and we think by the time we got her linked up with the other stud it was too late. All we can do is keep trying and hoping. We will try again this fall.

Hopefully we will have a confirmed litter announcement within the month. She should be bred and if so puppies will be here around August 10, and ready for homes around October 5th 😬♥️

We'd like to say, breeding season isn't going as planned. We think Rebel may still not be quite ready and understanding of his job. With that being said though, we were able to use our back up stud and Dixie and Cowboy already tied as soon as we got there and we will pick her back up on Saturday. Stay tuned hopefully we will have a confirmed pregnancy in the next month. For now here is the stud "Cowboy" from a very great breeder we've followed for years who has retired but generously let us use their stud and is going to offer so much knowledge. You may know him, he is from Happy Tail Acres 😁❤️

You got us through such a heart break and had big paws to fill. You've helped raise Brooklyn the past two years, and kept us on our toes. You've been the best girl and one of the biggest attitudes in the house ♥️

Dixie just got groomed in time to celebrate her 2nd Birthday this coming Sunday. So here's a puppy picture and a new picture of fresh and clean Dixie to celebrate her upcoming birthday which also marks the start of her heat within the next week😁♥️ 🎂

Sorry for not posting in a longtime, we've been waiting for the end of this month as Dixie will be falling into heat again. So stay tuned for updates, we are going to try to post more about Dixie and Rebel but also throw out some important breed information as well. Hopefully we will have a puppy announcement coming soon!!!!

We have some sad news today, Miss Dixie is still open, no puppies on the way. This is not what we had hoped for but the vet said with her being just over 1 1/2 years old they don't always take and her next heat her odds will be really good. We understand and apologize to anybody waiting on puppies her next heat will be end of April. Stay tuned as we grow our dogs and we will try again next heat. There is a medication out there that could send her back into heat now but it just really isn't good for the dogs or the puppies. Merry Christmas and happy holidays from AK Rough Collies 🎄

Tons of great information on here about this breed! They have quite the personality's and all of my collies have always loved to "talk" to you when you talk to them😅🐶

Okay Collie lovers, our 1 year flashback today. Time sure flies! Just another reminder and example of how awesome these dogs are for all ages. For even better reference, Dixie is just a young puppy about 8 1/2 months old in this video! 🐶 keep us in your thoughts if you're looking for an addition to the family they're great "baby sitters" 😘

Well we haven't been posting much with the huge wait we've had. The time is finally here! We've been watching and tracking Dixie very closely and she just came into heat so hopefully in a week we will be able to say she got bred, and then be able to do an official confirmation later after that.

Thanks for everybody who had followed us and kept an eye on our journey we can't wait to make the official announcement of puppies being on the way🐶 we are so close, we already have a couple on the waiting list and think this litter will go fast so please dont hesitate to let us know if you have interest you'll atleast be on the list for us to contact as soon as pups hit the ground! By telling us you're interested doesn't hold you responsible in any way for a puppy just lets us know who to keep in mind for contact. We will start taking non refundable puppy deposits once we have pups born!

One of the first things Collie owners end up learning, is what to keep on hand for grooming! Yes, collies are long double-coated dogs. Keeping up with it really isn't as hard as one may think. They only shed out about twice a year but as long as you brush them even a little here and there they don't shed all over the place besides those two times a year.

We can't stress enough how amazing our dogs are with kids. They are so loving and protective of our daughter, even if we are playing with her and make it sound rough they come between us and her (not in an aggressive way at all but ready to protect her even if it's against people they're used to). They put their bodies in between this wasn't trained to them, this wasn't taught to them, this is they're natural ability to protect. They are the sweetest and most loving dogs, you'd never think that they could hurt a fly, but I guarantee you if they needed to protect they're family (or livestock, or territory) they'll do whatever it takes. If you're looking for a dog to be loyal and loving in your family but know you can count on them to protect if needed, please look into getting a rough collie, you'll never regret the decision.

Just a girl and her collies or just some collies and their girl? 🥰 Remember we reach for healthy, happy, sound dogs firstly; but we strive to build those bonds that will last a lifetime. 😁 Our pups will be raised in a family oriented home and will be conditioned as best we can to needs of their future homes. Whether they go to family homes, one on one homes, or farm homes we will help for our pups transition from our home to yours.

It's been a minute since we posted these beautiful creatures. ♥️ it has been a long wait coming but just a little ways to go yet. Dixie has been through her first heat so we are definitely looking on schedule for around the end of October breeding with puppies arriving around the New Year.

We want our family, friends, and followers to keep our timeline in mind. Puppies will not go to new homes until they are atleast 8 weeks old, deposits are required on puppies and they're non-refundable. There will be puppy contracts signed when deposits are made. Things included with puppies are all breed information, health/genetic information on parents, UTD on puppy shots, deworming, 1 year health guarantee, and AKC registration. We will register the puppies for the new owners under the name they chose and owners information, we will do this for owners at no extra cost to owners and so we know all our puppies are registered. Our puppies will only go to the best of homes as we take pride and every step possible to guarantee happy, healthy lives of these collies.

This is an amazing breed. Their loyalty, intelligence, agility, and grace is unimaginable. Best family dog I've ever had hands down and we will never go without one. Don't let the long coat maintenance scare you if you get a de-shedding brush and go through their hair with it every now then the shedding is minimum besides the in-between seasons. I've owned long and short haired dogs and my short haired dogs always seemed to leave more hair every where than the collies.
