Khira is in heat and we had our first tie! We'll do an ultrasound in a month to confirm pregnancy but we should have puppies in May! We're just so excited!!! I'll post more about Mom and Dad in the coming weeks. I'll need something to do make the time pass quicker!

Khira isn't following the breeding books. I thought I picked her up for her date with Remy early but after 3 days here and her showing no interest I took her in to get a progesterone test and she had already ovulated. I picked her up too late. We are so disappointed. My daughter cried, Khira's guardian family was so sad. They were looking forward to puppies and I have two families who are waiting for puppies. I hate that we also disappointed them. To console ourselves we took the dogs camping this three day weekend and visited family. My daughter made Remy a daisy chain necklace out of all the wildflowers in the area. Hopefully that makes him more attractive with the ladies and not less. 😆 (Ignore the fact that he really needs to be groomed!)

Khira is in heat! The timing is so much fun! We will have to see exact dates when the puppies are born but there is a good chance that these puppies would be ready to go home on Christmas! Wouldn't that be so much fun! We're crossing fingers and toes that everything goes smoothly over here!

I've had a couple of people ask about our next litter. I am really excited about our next batch! It will be our first "grandbabies!" Khira, pictured below, is from our Zoey and Kingston litter and is almost 2. She had her 2nd heat in July and should go into heat again during the first quarter of 2023. We will pair her with Remy. It should be a very fun and colorful litter! We have so many possibilities! Every puppy has a 50/50 chance of getting tan point/phantom markings. 1/2 could be Merle. 1/2 brown. 1/2 black. Both Khira and Remy carry for parti so we could get some puppies with a lot of white, some marked more like an aussie and some with very little or even no white. So many possibilities!! I really like colorful litters so I am very excited. Of course these are the probabilities. We could get more of one color/pattern than another. It will be fun to see. In the coming months I'll post more about each parent. But, if you know you are interested reach out. I love to talk dogs. I am going to start an interest list and will probably start collecting deposits for first picks early.

Remy is really enjoying his class. This class is an advanced obedience class. It's full of adult service dogs that are honing their skills. Remy is not yet 11 months old but some how they let us in. I joke that he's the distraction of the class to keep the other dogs challenged but he is doing so well!! I'm really proud of him!

I have been SOOO bad at posting updates and now I broke my phone and some of my updated pictures were lost but here are a few sent by messenger. These three puppies are all from the Star Wars litter that went home earlier this year. All puppies are doing well and have such amazing families. I feel so blessed!

Puppies are getting ready to go home. As I was packing up their puppy bags I realized that I have not yet told new owners some essential information. Here is your shopping list- some are necessities, some are just things we like. Sorry it is so late!

1. Puppys are on 4 Health Puppy food. Pros: It has great ingredients for a good price. Cons: You can only buy it at Tractor Supply. In case you are not near a Tractor Supply I am sending a bag home with your pup in case you want to switch it up. Do it gradually.

2. Crates: Some don't use crates but I think they are great for keeping a puppy safe and at the vets and at the groomers they will need to be comfortable in one. Zoey can still use a 36 inch crate and some of the girls or smaller boys might be able to get away with a 36 inch crate but most will want a 42inch crate. I prefer one with two doors and they will need a divider to make the area small to assist in potty training. 3. Collar: The puppies will be microchipped before they leave and at pick up we will register them in your name. I also have a small collar that will go home with your puppy. Last year all my dogs were ready for new collars I bought three kinds and this one was my favorite: They are really adjustable- Remy started wearing it not long after we got him and is still wearing it. We got him the size small.

4. Grooming: Puppies will need a metal comb and brush to keep them tangle free. I haven't noticed a difference in quality of metals combs that I have bought but we are happy with this brush:

I haven't bit the bullet yet and splurged for it yet but I hear that it is worth the money.
I'm going to be bathing the puppies soon. I will trim nails and give the puppies what they call a sanitary clip- just a trim to keep them clean when they have to use the bathroom. Let me know if you want your puppy to opt out of that trim.

Last potty break of the night has ended up being a late night play session. It has been amazing to me how gentle Remy is with the puppies. Even when only one puppy is playing tug of war with him he doesn't pull hard enough to knock them over or pull it from them. He's a good Uncle.

These two little guys have had a LOT of interest but haven't been claimed yet. Hans Solo is the brown one. Kylo Ren the black puppy. They are the sweetest little guys and we are praying that they find the perfect homes! I really feel like their Momma, Zoey, was an answer to an unsaid prayer. She has been such a blessing to us- helping my kids gain confidence and being there for my kids who have struggled with some serious things. So, I not only pray that they find a home that will love them but also that they can be a blessing to their new homes like Zoey has been a blessing for us. Hans is my daughter's favorite. He always comes immediately to her and climbs in her lap and gives puppy kisses. He has a quiet confidence and is often the first to get into trouble. Kylo is a little more cautious. He loves to wrestle and play with his littermates and kids but in a new situation he often watches and lets his siblings check it out first and then he is all in.
Edit to add: Hans Solo has a deposit. That cute guy is going home with a cute little family. He's going to have an adorable 6 year-old trainer and a cute 3 year-old boy to play with!
Poor Kylo, I thought he was sold three different times. One had some things come up at work and they decided to wait for my next litter. Another had a death in the family and a third lost a pet and Dad wasn't quite ready and felt like it was too soon to get a puppy. I'm sure the right family will come along soon.

Here are a couple of updated photos of the puppies with deposits/homes. This week we have started shutting the door on the crates but with a friend. I'm not going to lie there was a little whining but they quickly settled down. They did great! Later in the week we will try eating in the crate and spending a little alone time in one. We also tried on harnesses and collars. When these little guys go home there is going to be so many changes! I try to have as many new experiences happen here as I can so the adjustment goes smoothly.

I took pictures Friday. Luke is going home with a 17 year-old who is going to training him to be a diabetic alert dog. I am so excited for Luke. These guys love to be with their people and this puppy will be able to be with his person all the time!

We weighed puppies today. We had some surprises! I still thought Kylo Ren was the smallest but he and Hans Solo are tied for third!
Chewbacca is the biggest puppy (no surprises there!)
Chewy weighs 7lbs even
Luke: 6 lbs 13 oz (so only 3 ounces less)
Hans and Kylo weigh 5 lbs 13 oz
Rey: 5 lbs 10 oz
Leia: 5 lbs 9 oz

Yesterday the puppies kept putting their front paws on the grass pad a p*eing on the floor next to their box. We shrunk down their play area and added another litterbox and they've done great today. The weather has been amazing so we also took them outside in the backyard but forgot to take pictures. I'll try to remember to take some candids tomorrow. They are so funny. Most of the time for naps 4 will all pile into one crate, one will fall asleep wherever it was playing and one smart one will find the empty crate. They love to snuggle!

Last but not least, is Hans Solo. He is my daughter's favorite because he is always first to find his way into her lap and will lick her to get her attention. He is a sweetie. Two of these boys are still looking for forever homes, including Hans.

Chewy is one of the biggest, if not the biggest. He shows a lot of confidence but is also very chill. I love that we caught a picture of him winking. I really want to get him a Chewbacca ammo sash to take pictures with. If I don't get around to it before he leaves whoever adopts him will have to. Chewy has a home with a cute little girl and a mom who mostly works from home. He's going to be a spoiled lil' guy. Hopefully he will also take good care of them.

Luke is one of my favorites (Ok, so I have 6 favorites). I love that his markings are so much like his mom. I'm partial to his beautiful white blaze and tan points. I haven't weighed the puppies lately but Luke is one of the biggest.

Kylo Ren is our smallest puppy but not by a lot. I love his slightly more reserved nature. I wouldn't say that he is shy. He is just content watching his brothers going first. He's a cutie!

Both of these girls are spoken for. We are holding one back to be a future momma for our program and the other has a great home with two little boys and an Aussie brother. I am having such a hard time deciding which one to keep! They are both just so sweet and both so beautiful!

Get ready for puppy pictures! I took a ton- hopefully I'll get a couple that are worth posting. 📸🐕 I've got to take care of homework and puppy clean-up so they probably won't be posted until tonight. The whelping box needed a deep cleaning so I set up the puppy pen today. They did great! I was worried that they might regress on the "litter box" training, but they did great! Every poo made it on the grass! We are still working on p*e but they are only 4 weeks old. I did put them back upstairs to sleep in their more familiar whelping box tonight. Its warmer up there and mom seems more comfortable. As everyone adjusts they will be spending more and more time downstairs where they can be socialized to my very noisy household, get more comfortable with a crate, and have more room to play. So far they seemed comfortable sleeping in their crates!

I got behind in laundry. The rug pads are being cleaned and will be added back into the whelping box tomorrow morning, but puppies are doing pretty good without it! Look how well they are getting around! They are starting to play with each other! Some puppies have started batting the other puppies with their paws to initiate play. It's cute to see them interact with each other. Their ears are open and they now respond to noise. This will be a big week for the puppies.

1.They will be getting their first solid meal later this week. For those of you who have human babies, puppies start meals the same. Meals are mostly just an experiment at first. They are messy with very little of the first meals getting eaten and most of the meal being worn. We start out with a mixture of puppy food and goats milk and then go from there.

2. 1st manicures (I already did 2 puppies, but the rest will get them tomorrow.)

3. We will introduce a potty spot this week. Puppies can now eliminate on their own. It's time to give them a place to go. I use grass pads in a shallow tray.

It seems like it was just yesterday that they were born. They are growing so fast!
