Anyone looking for some commercial show heifer prospects?!?! I’ve got two beautiful spring 2023 Brahman influence (87.5% brangus/12.5% braford) heifers that I would love to see in the show ring! Both are gentle and one you can already scratch and rub all over. Option to buy or “lease.” Message me if interested 🙂

Hey everyone! I just weaned calves and have 2 heifers I would love to see in the show ring. One is a registered black Brangus and the other is a commercial Brahman influence black heifer. Both are late September calves. I will start halter breaking this weekend and work on getting pictures. If you know anyone looking for a show calf please message me.

Here’s a feel good story for your Wednesday!

Dolly was attacked by dogs last September and suffered some very traumatic wounds to the hindquarters, v***a, ears, neck, and back. We weren’t sure if she would survive surgery and the mental trauma but she pulled through! I had to do a little reconstructive surgery to her v***a (it was almost completely torn off) and didn’t know if she would successfully be able to breed and have babies. Well, she surprised us and had 7 beautiful babies last night unassisted! Congrats Bobbie and Kevin 💙💗🐷

Goat castration day!

This big boy handled surgery great and is up trying to nibble on hay 1 hour after receiving injectable anesthesia. Surgery took about 15-20 minutes and he woke up smoothly. His two brothers did excellent as well and are snoozing off the anesthesia in the background. Everyone received pain medicine, antibiotic, and tetanus as well as additional pain medicine to take tomorrow.

This series of photos from PennState illustrates the process of rumen development in dairy calves.

Calves must transition from a simple-stomached animal that digests milk to a ruminant that digests solid feed. The goal is to have a more fully developed rumen before weaning calves off milk. By feeding starter and a little roughage before calves are weaned, they are better prepared (rumen is more developed) to digest the nutrients of solid food once it becomes their sole food source. Promoting rumen development before weaning is key to ensuring the calf is ready to transition to solid feed without experiencing a lag in growth.

Ensuring calves have fully developed rumens sets them up for success.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about how I became a veterinarian and made my way to Arkansas.

I was born and raised in northwest Louisiana and have loved animals my entire life. I grew up on a small farm where we had cows, horses, goats, and sheep. I joined 4-H at the age of 10 and my passion for livestock started then.

I attended Louisiana Tech University for undergraduate school and majored in Animal Science. I then went to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2014. Since graduation I have worked in a variety of veterinary fields which is what is so cool about veterinary medicine! I’ve worked in private practice treating dogs and cats, lived and worked on cattle ranches, and was a public health veterinarian until moving to Arkansas.

My husband and I have a beautiful daughter and made the move to Arkansas in the spring of 2021. After living here for a year I saw the need for a large animal veterinarian and decided to open my own mobile practice. I’m very excited to bring quality veterinary medicine to your animals at the comfort of your home.

I’m already overwhelmed by the kind and amazing people I’ve met in Arkansas and am excited to start a new chapter here!
