The Photograph is of the current batch of these stunning fish.

Discus Community - Please research how to keep these beautiful fish before purchase.

Discus are, arguably, amongst the most beautiful of all tropical fish in the world. They are members of the cichlid family but are unlike most other cichlids in their requirements and behaviour. They enjoy being kept in groups, only moving away from the group during breeding.

They prefer a deep and spacious, well planted aquarium with slightly acidic soft water . They prefer warmer water than most other tropical fish.

Adult Length: 18-20cm

Temperature Range 28-30°C

pH Range: 5.4-7

Special Requirements: Excellent water quality and a mature clean aquarium is essential. Many people use RO water to keep them, especially in hard water areas.

Tanks Mates: They prefer a species only tank although many people keep them with Cardinal Tetra very successfully which can make a stunning display.

Feeding: Discus are carnivorous. They like live or frozen food such as Tubifex or Bloodworm although they will be happy with a good quality discus pellet.

Geophagus Altifrons wild caught.

The fish that you will receive will measure around 6cm. It will take a little time to show its full coloration.
We also reccommend that you keep the tank dark as they do prefer black water. Make sure that you have plenty of oxygen in the tank as they love the bubbles.

Large Community

These Geophagus are very peaceful cichlids. They are a bit of a scavenger and will continually sift through the sand and stones on the bottom for anything that they can eat. They can be territorial during breeding but not to an extent that they will cause other tank mates any real damage.

Adult Length:13-15cm

Temperature Range 22 - 27°C

pH Range: 6.5-7.8

Special Requirements: Fairly easy to keep.

Tanks Mates: Any South American larger community fish under 15cm, providing they are not too large to intimidate the Eartheater. THey can be housed happily with some of the large tetras etc.

Feeding: . The geophagus like to sift feed, meaning they will take large mouthfuls of debris and pick out the tastey bits of food. Ideally fed on pellets but will eat virtually anything that it can find.

Mango Magnum Plecostomus L047 - Baryancistrus chrysolomus

Community

The Mango or Magnum plec is a stunning peaceful pleco that is very proficient at eating algae. It is easy to keep (providing it is fed correctly) and can make an excellent addition to a community aquarium. It does grow to 10" so does require plenty of space. They are from the Rio Xingu region of Brazil.

There are other, more suitable plecs for the smaller tank.

Adult Length: 20cm

Temperature Range 26-30°C

pH Range: 5.5-7.5

Special Requirements: They grow quite large and so are not suitable for small aquariums. They require mature well balanced soft water. As with all plecs, they do require quality hiding places.

Tanks Mates: They are a good community fish as they are peaceful..

Feeding: They are predominantly algae and biofilm grazers but should be offered higher protein foods on occassion.
