There’s been a lot going on, and I just wanted to thank Painted Pistol Open Ranch Horse Show for her gorgeous pictures of our nokota horses, tho Antonio never got to see them I know he’s obsessed. We’ve decided to name lady’s foal “VPs little bear” in a way of memorial. With all the uncertainty of the future we wanted everyone to know Vanguard Performance Horses will be continuing it Nokotas preservation.

Glenna Paulman and Sudden On The Rocks are easily the best people I have ever worked with in reproduction, she’s calm cool collected, kind, patient, not enough kind words can be said.

Fixing vet mistakes, helping young breeders navigate.

And absolutely gorgeous stallion to boot.
She redirected semen to me and helped me find another vet.

I’m just going to share my experience make your own judgments.

April 25 - Bring mare in for repro check, unfortunately just ovulated, here’s luta, give it to her money bring her Wednesday

April 30 - being mare in for repro check, not on the schedule, grabs horse without saying anything, ultrasounds. Tells me she’s got mutliple follicles.

- okay let’s leave here her.

Communication since has been

May 2 - good morning, still no dominate follicle

GHOST

May 5 - got a call saying “hey your mare has an abscess on her jaw, we pulled bloodwork, lanced and drained it and sent it off for test, she’s in quarantine now.

HELLO???!!! Excuse me what!???

May 6th - hey, I want my mare to stay and wait for her results. To confirm they were sent off and we’re just waiting?? Them - YES

May 9th - “hey holly its the vet, can we guttural scope your mare to bring her back into gen pop”
Me - I thought we were waiting on results?
Her - I told them not to send them I wanted to “SEE WHAT IT WOULD DO” since it’s “not progressing” can we scope her

UM SURE DONT KNOW WHY WE DIDNT TO BEGIN WITH.

LOkay, we’ll she ovulated, we missed her cycle while she was quarantine”

AT THIS POINT I CALL AND SAY “hey I need to be updated on what’s happening to my horse, what I’m being charged for etc”
Receptionist tells me she writes a note

May 11th - dilly was short cycled again
“Thank you”

May 13th - dillys not in heat still

May 15 - we dosed her with luta to cycle again.
“Why wasn’t I called?” No response. So I call the office and explain, IM THE ONE BEING BILLED I can’t just be charged left and right, without approving costs. I understand their job is to get her pregnant, but it’s NOT ON THEIR DIME especially when they’ve already messed up so much.

- I call the vet, in tears “ma’am I’m frustrated, you guys are billing me for all these things when my horse was supposed to be dropped off and picked up with a matter of days and now I’ve got a 1500$ bill, IF YOU GUYS KEEP DOING THIS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD MY BILL “well if you’re broke just come get your horse then”

May 17 - checked dilly today no heat

Today - I AM CALLING AND LEAVING MESSAGES AT 7am to see where my horse is at in her cycle, asking them not to dose again with luta and to just call me.

THEY CALL THE STALLION OWNER TO SAY “WE NEED SEMEN TODAY do you have an extra dose!!!!!!” AFTER NOON!!

stallion owners like “um what lol no we don’t have “extra doses” he was collected and sent already today you never warned me”

Suddenly I get a text “oh dillys a breeder on Wednesday we’ll put her down for then”

“Okay what’s the follicle size If you wanted Semen today”

THE ACCOUNTANT CALLS ME AND SAYS “ma’am do you want to set up a payment”
“No unfortunately I spoke to the front office, I want to speak with the owner of the facility”
“Well he doesn’t have time, he doesn’t want to deal with this, it’s the repro that you need to deal with”

I hung up. My lawyers already contacting them, 1500
4 missed cycles

Are you absolutely serious

I already paid for semen (with special shipping) 3 weeks ago 🙃 when she was supposed to be bred.

Can I just. No wonder younger generations aren’t breeding.

Sorry everyone. No Sudden on the rocks baby this year, to the owner of him, thank you for your INCREDIBLE support and response and everything you’ve done. You made me stick with it this long 🤞🏻 she is a rockstar

Wow! I really like doing these before and afters for horses in our program at Vanguard Performance Horses We may not be able to afford fancy expensive horses constantly but it’s nice to show how quickly “mediocre” horses can begin to develop and muscle up. This mare has been sitting in pasture all winter, we brought her up and have ridden her the last two weeks the difference from the width in withers to the way the spine ties in to the body, feeling very proud of myself!

I just wanted to thank Neely DeNeille Grybush I have now decided to switch gears and start focusing on boogeys APHA record instead of just his ranch record, we’ll be in Waco this April and the World Shows in June/July this is going to be a huge things for me and Vanguard Performance Horses. It means so much to me to not only have someone contact me specifically but encouraging me because they believe in my stock, it’s one of the biggest compliments I’ve ever received 😭

On the other side of the spectrum!

We will be crossing “R U W***y Mine” (daughter of Winnies W***y) with Sudden On The Rocks for a more traditional and KILLER pleasure cross!! This mares movement could be refined down for a killer pleasure horse, and with a stallion so talented this is going to be one to watch in the hunter or any pleasure ring!!!

This one will be available to a SHOW HOME ONLY!!!

I could not be more excited about this cross, possible triple registered
(NSBA, American Roan Horse, APHA, and AQHA*)

*papers vary depending on how foal comes out!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 bay roan filly (with w35) is our hopes!
