Nothing can take away the ache and sadness we feel when someone we love dies... nothing. But the one thing we do have and that does bring us comfort, and is ours to visit any time we want to... are the memories of the times we spent with them. No one can ever take those away.

Imagine each person you love has a box... your job is to fill that box with moments and memories so that they can take it with them when they go ... you carry a box too... with those same memories. My hope is that whether we stay or we go, we always have a box filled with memories.

This reminds me (and hopefully you too) to go a little crazy making memories now with the ones who are still with us... lots and lots of memories...

Many don't know this information, and remember every second matters during a choking incident. ❤ 🐕🐩🐶🦮🐕‍🦺

1. Place the unconscious dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog, adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.

2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.

3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.

Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work so don't hesitate to save your dog.

WHAT I MISS MOST…….. My Raven passed 1/5/2022. She hated me dancing, singing, vacuuming, hugging the kids/husband. I catch myself in happy moments like dancing feeling so sad that she is not barking at me to stop, her eating my 5th vacuum. I don’t tear up every time, but it is always a thought that passes that my sweet baby is no longer with me. What do YOU miss most about your angel?

🌹🌹🌹All the little cat spirits were crossing the rainbow bridge when one of them looked back and saw some cats' souls laying on the other side of the bridge, not moving.

“Who are they?” he asked the cat next to him.

“Oh, don’t you know they are the souls who had no owner in life and knew no love like we did."

“So what are they laying there for?” he asked “Why don’t they cross over like us?”

“They can’t.” replied his new friend “Only pets with owners can cross."

Just then all the souls on the other side of the bridge sat up and looked down the road.

"What’s happening?" asked the little cat. “Watch!” replied his friend.

Whereupon a woman was seen walking towards the bridge. She looked to her left and then to her right then opened her arms wide and all the patiently waiting souls got up and went to her.

She knelt and touched each and every spirit in turn.

They then all proceeded to cross the bridge together.

“Who is that?” he asked his friend.

“That is someone special.” replied his friend “She is a rescuer." 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈

How do you recover from losing a pet? These 10 expert tips over this coming week will help you work through your loss…

Who’s your best friend?
If you’re like many people, the answer is your pet.
Pets are our companions, walking pals, sounding boards, even bedmates. They love us in good times and bad. They cheer us up, make us laugh and stick by our sides.
That’s why losing a pet can be even more traumatic than losing a family member, and the grieving process is similar, psychologists say.

1.Take time to grieve.
Your pet may have been part of your family for a long time, so mourning may take time. Accept it.
“No one else can tell you when it's time to move on or get over it,” says Frank J. Sileo, Ph.D., a licensed New Jersey psychologist who has worked with clients who have lost pets.
“The grief process can't be forced or hurried along,” he says. “There is no set timetable for grieving.”
Your grief may come in waves. You may begin to feel better, but then the grief may be triggered again, for example, “by hearing of someone else losing a pet, a name or a special day, such as your pet's birthday,”

Coping with Losing a Pet

It’s natural to feel devastated by feelings of grief and sadness when a beloved dog, cat, or other pet dies. These tips can help you cope.

Why does the loss of a pet hurt so much?
Many of us share an intense love and bond with our animal companions. For us, a pet is not “just a dog” or “just a cat,” but rather a beloved member of our family, bringing companionship, fun, and joy to our lives. A pet can add structure to your day, keep you active and social, help you to overcome setbacks and challenges in life, and even provide a sense of meaning or purpose. So, when a cherished pet dies, it’s normal to feel racked by grief and loss.

The pain of loss can often feel overwhelming and trigger all sorts of painful and difficult emotions. While some people may not understand the depth of feeling you had for your pet, you should never feel guilty or ashamed about grieving for an animal friend.

While we all respond to loss differently, the level of grief you experience will often depend on factors such as your age and personality, the age of your pet, and the circumstances of their death. Generally, the more significant your pet was to you, the more intense the emotional pain you’ll feel.

The role the animal played in your life can also have an impact. For example, if your pet was a working dog, service animal, or therapy animal, you’ll not only be grieving the loss of a companion but also the loss of a coworker, the loss of your independence, or the loss of emotional support. If you lived alone and the pet was your only companion, coming to terms with their loss can be even harder. And if you were unable to afford expensive veterinary treatment to prolong your pet’s life, you may even feel a profound sense of guilt.

While experiencing loss is an inevitable part of owning a pet, there are healthy ways to cope with the pain, come to terms with your grief, and when the time is right, perhaps even open your heart to another animal companion

An important aspect of grieving is to be kind to yourself. Avoid sharing the loss of your pet with people who will not understand and support you. It can be difficult if others respond to your news with something like: “It is just a dog- get another one.” Your relationship with your pet was special and from them you experienced much love and joy. You owe it to yourself and the one you loved to have that valued by others who are willing to honor that relationship and support you on your grief. It can sometimes be easier just to say to those who do not understand that wonderful bond that can exist between people and their pets, that you have recently lost a family member.

Remember that talking with someone who understands can help you find your way through this difficult time.
