Watch Wilson go from pulling and tugging on the leash to calm, cool, and, collected in just a few weeks!
Does your dog constantly pull on the leash?
The biggest thing you can do to help is to not let them keep up with the pulling. If we let them pull on the leash during walks, when they have to go to the bathroom, or when meeting new people, we are actually strengthening this behavior and the pulling won't get better.
Instead, we want to teach your dog that pulling won’t get them anywhere.
Earlier last week, we met up with Dakota's owners to get some leash work in at Lowe's before wrapping up her Board and Train!
When Dakota first came to us, she was pretty anxious and had a hard time settling down in new places with new people. Throughout her stay, we worked on strengthening her obedience while building up her confidence so she can feel more comfortable in new environments.
Lily practicing obedience!
Lily has been with us for a few weeks now and is really rocking her obedience! If you couldn't tell, she's also gotten really good at her "free" command 😂

Look at this loose leash walking!
If you are wanting your dog to walk with you like this, it all starts with the leash.
Tank's Before & After
Check out this before and after!
If you can remember, Tank came to us with a full training wish list, and being able to calmly sit while cars and other large vehicles drive by was a big item on that list.
During his stay with us, not only were we able to teach Tank to sit calmly while in the "sit" command, but we were also able to teach him not to be in a command and to decide not to lunge or chase after cars as they go by! Yes, he might still be interested, but you can see that he is now actively choosing to stay neutral in this situation.
Tank goes to Lowe's!
Tank has been with us for 5 days now and is already making some great progress!
This is the first time we've been out in a public place since Tank's drop off. We didn't have to take a bunch of trips to Lowes for him to be ok at Lowe's. By laying some foundation before heading to a public place, we set him up for a better training experience and he did great!
Earlier this week, Onslow finished her Board and Train with us and we are so proud of her progress over her stay!
Here's Onslow and her owner crushing some loose leash walking in a distracting environment!
Check out this impulse control!
Paisley came to us as a very anxious and nervous dog. By promoting impulse control, she is actively choosing to stay calm and have patience even when something as desirable as her food is right in front of her!
We welcomed Riddick back for a few days! 😀
It is important with kids and dogs to set boundaries, for both the kids and the dogs. Our Junior Trainer, Emery, is showing how respectful Riddick can be with kids!
Riddick's Fosters have done an amazing job with him, but had some changes happen that won't allow them to foster him anymore. Feel free to reach out to us or Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue, Inc. - Bismarck Mandan if you are interested in fostering or adopting!
Rip catches on quick! He's doing great with obedience and with the ecollar!
Waylon is doing a great job with his obedience! I am conditioning him to the Ecollar -- which consists of us using obedience commands he already knows with the lowest level he can feel. This allows him to understand the stimulations which sharpens his obedience and will allow for a safer experience when he moves to being off leash!
Although this may not seem like a big deal, this is a big step for Riddick! A little patience and consistency goes a long way. He is very lucky to have such amazing Fosters!

Does your dog hate being in their crate or kennel? Instead of forcing them in, I like to get them used to going into the crate without closing the door shut.
In this sped-up video I'm working with Riddick on getting used to the crate without the expectation of him staying inside of it. Using his food and a no-pressure approach helps us get one step closer to a better crate experience!
Gunther gets a *little* excited when playing catch and doesn't like to give the ball back, so we played with TWO balls today to entice him back and get him one step closer to fetching like a pro!
Gunther is doing a great job with duration and impulse control in the Down Command!
