Regarding antler debates:
Antlers is a broad term. Density of antlers vary with the critter. Anything not labeled clearly what animal it's from is usually whitetail which is one of the most dense (and likely unethically sourced).
Goat and moose are least dense with elk and whitetail most dense (it also varies with what area of the "antler" the cut you have comes from ie tines/paddles etc).
A parallel can be made with bones.
It's a good idea for folks to know the details of what critter and what part of it (as with any product) they are claiming to be dangerous or safe before making broad statements and proclamations.
Be an educated (and sensible) consumer.

Recently, we've had a lot of folks express that for them, well, times are tough. We understand and empathize. In order to accommodate the need for folks to get the training help they need and still be able to make their other financial obligations, we have lowered our prices on all lessons. (For YEARS people were telling us that we weren't charging enough for our services!) But, we want you to be able to buy groceries AND get the training guidance you want.
We expect that folks will understand that we will not be prorating already scheduled/paid sessions; this is for new lessons and likely be temporary as we watch how the overall national economy effects us all in the coming months.

If we hosted a 🐾Therapy Dog Int'l 🐾 test in April, May or June would you be interested? Of course as always we'd offer prep classes prior to the testing. 🐾 We'll only schedule it if we're sure we have the interest so let us know if that's a goal for you and we'll make it happen!
BTW: CGC and Advanced CGC prep and tests info will be posted within the next few days! Aiming for CGC March & CGCA May or June.

An example of why I push you guys to work the "deliver item to hand" part of retrievals.
It's just a tiny piece of a bush that apparently was stuck to someone's fur but it was on the floor a good distance away from my cozy couch spot. Freddie was sniffing at it and I of course could not see exactly what it was. So, "Freddie bring it to me"; she carefully picked it up and delivered it.

I drop things from my right hand constantly and bending is usually a challenge so I'm tremendously grateful that my dogs are willing to pick up and deliver anything I ask them to.

So yeah FoxGemmers, keep working those retrievals! You'll be glad you did!

*Group Beginner Class* Upcoming Session

At FoxGem, we teach you how to help your dog make good choices and how to build upon his self control. This, balanced with clear rules and boundaries for the dog equals good manners and teamwork.

In this class of course we will cover all the basics you would expect such as sit/stand/down, wait/stay, leash walking, etc... but the first class of the session will be completely dedicated to helping you teach your dog "how to learn" AND how to build upon your dog's self control. You will be teaching your dog how to make good decisions!
Once that concept is in place (for YOU) then we can move on and more effectively teach you the foundations of obedience and teamwork.

If you have already tried a group class elsewhere and you know that your dog is tremendously overstimulated when criteria is raised (if he barks incessantly at other dogs etc...) then a session of private lessons will benefit both you and your dog much more than a group situation where the criteria is too high.
