Hi all,
Just to let everyone know that we will be gone until November, so no home visits will be possible until we get back. But I will try to keep people updated on Facebook when we have internet access on our trip - it could be spotty.

Thanks for your interest in our Basenjis. Sorry not to have gotten back to you quickly, but we've been super busy preparing for a long-planned trip - we are leaving today and won't return until May 6 or 7. I'll try to get back to everyone once we get home!

Just realized that I haven't posted in forever! I apologize for the long delay, but circumstances were beyond our control.

Lots going on here at Illusion - we may still have a puppy or 2 available from this year's litter. Pups were born on December 30, 2022. The litter is red and tri. Possible show prospect as well as companion/performance. Both parents are AKC Champions. The puppies have been health tested for Fanconi and PRA and have received 2 sets of puppy immunizations with the 3rd set scheduled.

Our process: We want to meet the whole family/household and have you meet us and our dogs. We don't take deposits, but we do maintain a wait list for potential homes. We do require co-ownership for show prospects and require spay/neuter for companion and performance dogs. We have a lifetime return clause for the return of the dog should the owners be unable to keep her/him for any reason. We don't ship puppies unaccompanied, and owners would need to travel here to South Texas to pick up the puppy.

We will be in Fort Worth at the Will Rogers Memorial Center for the DFW Basenji Club and the Fort Worth Kennel Club shows this weekend. Drop by to see many lovely Basenjis and their breeders/owners if you're in the area! Ring times are 6 PM on Friday evening, 9:10 AM on Saturday and 8 AM on Sunday.

Our unplanned litter for this year was born August 12. The litter was a Carrier to Carrier breeding, and 2 of the pups tested Affected for Fanconi; they will be staying with us. The others have all now gone to their new homes.

Thank you to all of you who expressed an interest in Red. She will be staying in the Houston area with her new mom - an experienced Basenji owner who just lost her last one 3 years ago, Red is already making a place for herself in Crissy's heart.

UPDATE on Red

I realized that I didn't specify where we (and Red) are. We're in southeast Texas, just north of Houston. We are hoping to keep her in Texas or nearby as she's undergoing a fair bit of stress right now adjusting to leaving her family.

We have a 'Golden Opportunity' dog who unfortunately had to come back to us. Illusion's Southern Rose, known as Red, is a 5-year-old spayed girl. She is the sister to our Tate (CH Illusion's Southern Salutation.)

Red has been a much-loved house dog since her placement. She has lived with children, but not cats or other dogs although she has been getting along with the dogs here - at least through the fence.
Zepp is keeping her company right now.

This is why we recommend waiting until they are at LEAST over 6 months, longer if possible.

1> Illusion's Buttered Rum aka Benny was WD, BOW, BOS, and BOBOH for his first 2 points on Friday!
2> Illusion's Captain Morgan, aka Morg, followed his brother by taking the points on Saturday and Sunday! He has 4 points.
3> And, last, but certainly NOT least, Illusion's Grace O'Malley, was WB on Sunday for her final 2 points of her Championship!

Been awhile since I posted - but this is the beautiful BB, Illusion Relic Bar None, formerly known as Girl 1 from the Eric X Chey litter. She turned 6 months old on June 10 and celebrated by going to Lake Charles, LA for her first show! Very proud to say that she got her first points and first major under Judge Jackie Stacy!

Next off to her new home is Illusion's Caipirinha, to be known as Zuri. She will have a new big bro to play with - a tri boy. Good thing she's used to that! Her wonderful humans are the DaSilvas from Bee Cave, TX.

This is the tough part. 2 puppies going to their forever homes on Friday, 2 more on Saturday. 1 more on Wednesday. I know they're wonderful homes, but this is always hard.

IllusionNRelic's Stars N Bars, call name Grace, is off on a road trip with her new mom Nancy. She's going to live with her Aunt Zandi, (Ch Illusion's Aeropostale CD RA RAE CGC) and learn to show in Conformation and Performance events.

We had a blast today with the Eric X Chey kids (8 weeks), the Davey X Tate kids (6 weeks) and the Draco X Val kids (5 weeks)

The pups wore each other out, too! 12 of 14 shown here conked out in the kitchen cuddle bed.

Getting excited - Saturday is the 'Show Evaluation' day here at Rancho Illusion. Several local breeders and friends will be here to help evaluate the Eric X Chey brindle girls. Oh, yeah, there probably will be pictures... We'll also take a first look at the Davey X Tate crew, even though they are only 6 weeks old.
