A huge congratulations to GCHS CH Willow Tree Basil Hayden FDC CCA CGCA CGCU TKN ATT who took 7 Best Of Breeds at the Victory Lane Leo’s specialty and supported entries (5 days of shows). He also took a Best in Specialty. So very proud of Hayden and his handler Amber Becker Briscoe and his owner Karen Speaker Albers. This handsome boy is out Willow and Ferdy and was my second litter.
22 pictures later got a halfway decent pic of the kids. Left to right, Willow, Maverick, Erik, Allyria. Angel. I even got the tunnel out this morning. Angel and Maverick had a blast tunnel running. Erik even took the tunnel once. Allyria stuck her head in but didn’t go through.

I never expected it would be to watch one of my puppies earn Best of Opposite. Congratulations to this awesome team.
Willow Tree is so very proud to announce Willow Tree Basil Hayden, Hayden was invited to Westminster this year. We are so very proud of Karen, Amber and Hayden and all they accomplished last year. This is a dream come true for me. Since I was a little girl I have wanted to go to Westminster and I am going this year with a pup I bred.

These pups should be very versatile Leonbergers.

The kids of Willow Tree had an awesome weekend at the Bluegrass Classic at Altech arena in Lexington. Pending AKC confirmation:
GCH CH Redwood Trail Faith (Willow) has earned her Rally Excellent title.
Willow Tree Angel of the Morning earned her Rally Advanced title and ran her personal best in Fastcat of 7.4 seconds.
CH Willow Tree Boundary Oak Burning (Maverick) was Best Bred By during the LCA/GBLC designated specialty and went on to earn his first group placement in Bred By with a group 4. He also ran his personal best in Fastcat with a 8.0 run.
CH Willow Tree Breckinridge Well Worth the Wait (Mayteus) earned 2 Selects and a Best of Opposite S*x over a very nice line up of Leo’s. His BOS was at the LCA/GBLC designated specialty. He only showed 3 days of the show. Owned and loved by Elayne Swift.
GCHB CH Willow Tree Basil Hayden (Hayden) earned 4 Best of Opposites and 1 Select over the 5 days. Owned and loved by Karen Speakers Albers.

Happy (one day late) birthday to this beautiful girl who made me a breeder. Angel you were hiding way up in your mom and surprised us when we thought everything was done. You have been a wonderful addition to our Leo family and a challenge at the same time. So glad I kept you.

All 3 dogs have both front and backend titles. Way to go Karen Albers and Amber Briscoe, Elayne Swift and Tim and Tyra Haley.

GCHB CH Willow Tree Basil Hayden FDC, CGCA, CCA, TKN ATT (Hayden) went Best of Breed both Saturday and Sunday and took a Working Group 4 on Saturday and Working Group 3 on Sunday. Thank you to Judges Dr. Ronald Spritzer and Mr. David Bolus for recognizing these two boys in a very nice lineup of Leonbergers. Thank you to Amber Becker Briscoe for awesome handling of Hayden.
Willow Tree Leonbergers is so very proud of Mateyus, Willow Tree Breckenridge Well Worth the Wait, on going Best of Breed out of the classes twice this weekend. Saturday he got a group 2 as a class dog. No love in groups on Sunday. Can’t wait to also watch this boy go places. He also got his 2 majors, now to finish his points.
Willow Tree is so proud of Karen Speaker Albers, Amber Becker Briscoein their most recent weekend of showing. Hayden added a new set if initials to his collection, BISS. This boy has been so amazing and he is just a little over 2. BISS GCHB CH Willow Tree Basil Hayden FDC, CGC, TKN, ATT.
I cannot begin to describe the emotions today. It was all I could do not to cry happy tears while picking up my drugs. As Karen said dreams do come true and then they surpass everything. Today I have not one but two of GCH CH Redwood Trail Faith BN, RA THD, CGC, TKN, FDC (Willow) puppies in the top 20 All Breed and Breed. Hayden is #5 and Presley is 19 and 20, respectively. In the AKC Grand Championship standing both Hayden and Presley are in the top 10. Hayden is number one in Owner Handled. Hayden is just 25 months old and has achieved his bronze status, went Owner Handled Reserve Best in Show, and has multiple group placing in Owner Handled. Hayden also took a Select in a very nice line up at Nationals. Presley has the distinction of traveling to Westminster this year. Both pups are not only winning conformation competitors, they also have titles behind their names showing they are versatile Leonbergers.
When Sandy, Sandy and Barbara picked Willow for me I figured we would only do therapy work. Then Sandy Beggs came to me and said you need to show her. Little did I know the journey those words would take me on. Then she came to and said you need to breed her. Thank you so much for trusting me with this girl.

This is for all my puppy owners. Leonberger Club of America National Specialty is just around the corner. I hope all of you will try to attend. I know it is some distance for some but it is a fun time and you get to meet a lot of Leo owners. It’s fun to see all the dogs in the ring. There are also a lot of learning activities going on.
Good information to know.
Puppy socialisation is NOT just about playing with other dogs.
In fact, too much uncontrolled exposure to other dogs can cause so many unintended consequences.
If you have a puppy, make sure you try to work on ALL aspects of socialisation, as listed in the bottom graphic.
Harmony is still looking for her furever home. She is an active smart girl. She loves to run. She has a brother and sister from previous litters who have already earned their Grand Championships.
We have one female available. She has some show potential. She is a full of life Leonberger who loves to run and jump. She may have some agility potential. She’s a smart little girl. She’s nine weeks old. She will only go to an approved home, which means you have to fill out the application. DM me if interested in the application.
Puppies first day outside. Hesitant at first but then loved it. Even the big trucks didn’t bother them.

It is with great sadness to say that Mr. Gray passed tonight. He had actually improved today and took a bottle for the first time in a week. He fought so hard for 2 weeks.
So I am finally getting around to updating about our Christmas litter. It has not been a good week and a half. First I had to deal with an emergency c-section. Thank you Sandy Pearsall for sitting with me while I was stressing. 8 pups were born but I eventually lost 2. Willow was her normal mom self for the first few days and then she got antsy. I Immediately started bottle feeding as she would not settle. All took to the bottle. However on Saturday gray boy developed gas. He was treated but would not eat after that. I can’t begin to count the number of times I have thought gray boy was going to pass but he fights on. I eventually had to start tube feeding him to make sure he was getting enough food. He has put on a little weight but needs all the prayers he can get. Pink girl did give me a scare but it only took two tube feeding for her to realize the ni**le and bottle were the best choice. Grandma Karen Albers came and stayed for a few days helping out. The other 5 are doing well so far and gaining weight.

Christmas litter. This is a repeat breeding from the second litter, Windswept Paxton (Ferdy) and Redwood Trail Faith (Willow). The 4th picture is of a puppy from the first breeding of these two. 4 boys and 4 girls were born via c-section today. Mom and pups are doing very well at this time.

**HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME & FAMILY FOR A LEONBERGER**
1) Lift a 170lb bag of wet sand up and down the stairs
2) Push a 170lb bag of wet sand into your car
3) Smear hair gel all over your walls and throw it on the ceiling and TV, while you're at it, smear the lower half of all windows, curtains and glass
4) Rub fur and gel into the roof of your vehicle
5) At least twice daily, drop that 170lb bag of wet sand on your bare foot
6) Shake balls of fur, mulch, and a bucket of dirt and wster all over your house daily
7) Practice repeating “Leonberger”, about 170lbs…8-10 cups a day…"no, I don’t have a saddle” over and over with a smile
😎 Volunteer at the zoo to help wash the large animals and clean up their p**p
9) Invite your friends over and have them all try to get in the bathroom while you are using it
10) Practice telling people that your husband does NOT beat you, that those bruises are from your dog!
11) Take a nice long piece of rubber hose and go around smacking all the coffee mugs off the end-tables and hit any close male where he doesn't like to be hit and smack your own legs a few times too
12) Have someone operate a chain saw at the foot of your bed all night...record this and play it every night close to your ear

Can’t let this day go by to give a big happy birthday to my girl Willow. When you were born 5 years ago you were still a dream. Then I got the call from Sandy Beggs saying a girl was available. When you came home I was not planning on all that you got me into. I was not planning on showing but got talked into it and now have 3 mores Leo’s to show. I wasn’t going to do rally but here you are with your rally advance. I wasn’t going to be a breeder but here we are with two very wonderful litters from you with 3 champions. She is such a special girl.
