I see/hear questions asked consistently about nail trims for dogs that hate it, and have extreme anxiety about nail trims.
This is due to many reasons, not enough positive introduction as a puppy, predisposition breed ( yes, some breeds HATE their nails done), or they had a negative experience.
The best way to help with this, is consistent and frequent nail trims with the same person, as well as positive enforcement of their choosing ( bacon, toy etc..) This shows the dog that we’re not trying to take their paw off, and that they can trust us.
Also, one of the biggest things is for YOU the pet parent to remain calm, dogs feel and feed off energy, so if you’re nervous, it will amplify their anxiety.
It can take 1-50 visits depending on the pup, and they won’t always like it. They could be having a bad day and not want to deal with it.
