Peaches really hates the dryer, so I lay towels down for her so she can dry herself while I groom her sister, pickles.
Grooming isn’t about what the groomer wants, pups have their own personalities and I try to learn what works best for them. I want grooming to be an enjoyable experience, not just for looks but for their health.
Mimosa loves to be groomed, so much so she’s doesn’t want her brother to have a turn 😆
Let’s talk matting, knots and under coat. Every dog sheds. Some less than others but they are still dropping dead hair to make room for new hair ( just like us). When the hair gets stuck and isn’t removed it can cause knots or matting. This is not healthy for their skin and coat, it damages new hair and restricts air to their skin which can cause many issues.
This is a video of a double coated dog that has a lot of undercoat, but isn’t matted yet ( thank goodness!)
Can you see the difference in hair as his hair is blown out? The texture and color changes, this is the dead undercoat leaving.
Ear hair pulling.
( I do this before the bath so the hair is dry)
Please help me to decide!
