Please help this baby!!!!!! I live in Tennessee
GONE 😢
RIP.... your life mattered
His owner abandoned him.
That is what the police told the ACC intake staff when they brought MARZIPAN to the shelter. How confused and alone do you think Marzipan feels? This big boy is 4 years old, and he is finding himself in this chaotic environment without the support of the person he thought was going to stand by him and keep him safe for all of his life. He has probably only known life in a home with a family, and now he must navigate this scary place. All because of human failure. He tried so hard to be brave on intake, wagging his tail, friendly with staff. But now, less than 2 weeks later, he is still feeling out of place. He has not been aggressive at all, he just ducks his leash, is stress panting on walks, simply overwhelmed by all the new stimuli that is bombarding him. This boy just needs a quiet, calm, peaceful and loving home where he can decompress after the trauma of being left behind. Just look at his sweet face. He is a good boy, a kind boy, and he’s a boy who, in the home of an experienced family, would open his heart to love and be a total cuddle bug. He just needs that opportunity. Marzipan did nothing wrong and he deserves a long and happy life. If you are an experienced foster or adopter in a home with older kids (Age 13 and over) hurry and MESSAGE OUR PAGE for assistance saving his life.
This sweet boy has a MOVIE!!!! Please watch him, then save his life!

ENRICHMENT NOTES
08/22/24: Marzipan is standing at the front of kennel with a neutral body as handler approaches. He attempts to dodge the leash and does not take the treat lure. Handler kennel ropes successfully and brings him out to the play yards . He is kept on leash due to him displaying fearfulness signals. He routinely peed in the same 3 spots in the yard for the entirety of the walk. Had a stiff tail, ears back, was salivating , and continuously lip licking. Towards the end of his walk he shook off and began mildly panting. He was easily clipped and returned to kennel.
8/19/24: Marzipan is laying in the back of the kennel when the handler approaches. He stands but does not come forward or take treats. He dodges the leash several times, jumping up, jumping away, pawing the leash, and mouthing it moderately. After multiple attempts the handler stops and tosses treats but Marzipan is not responsive. Eventually he turns his head in a way the handler is able to leash him and he is taken for a street walk. He pulls mildly and does not react to anything. He is not assessed at this time due to FAS and is returned to kennel without issue.

We have no history on Marzipan so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised.
