Working on trailing nose work with Zero. He's so good! Nose work is an excellent way to help your dog burn through excess mental and physical energy, and when it advances to the point where they can do scent work outdoors, it becomes a great excuse to get outside for us as well.

A dog experiences much of the world through its mouth. Some have even said a dog is a mouth with legs!
This is one of the reasons why it is so beneficial to have a chew toy, or an activity, that lets your dog get those instinctual chewing behaviors out.
I prefer to use nylabones, or other chew toys.
If you do give your dog real bones, be sure that they are not poultry or cooked bones, as they can splinter, and possibly cause your dog injury.

Zero working on his scent tracking skills! It was a little windy out today, but you can see him get a good sniff, get right into the scent trail, and find the glove pretty quickly!

How to help capture your dogs good behaviors!
Daily walks are the best!
When you're walking your dog, give them some time to sniff around.
Dogs gather valuable information from scents, and it will help them drain mental energy while the walk helps drain their physical energy!
An easy 2 for 1!
If your dog is reacting on leash, giving them a task to do, or distracting them, is one way to help bring them under control 🙂
Winter snow playtime can be extremely fun (and provide great exercise) for your dog.. be sure to check their paws periodically for ice/snow buildup, and limiting play time to shorter trips outside can benefit a short haired dog or smaller breed dog! Have fun, stay warm
Puzzle toys are a great way to help your dog drain energy
A new toy is a sure fire way to help your dog blown off some excess mental energy, as well as keeping their chewing instinct satisfied!
Zero is having a blast on his daily walk
