Finally a not-moist day so we can practice the show ring stuff ahead of the Silver Bay Kennel Club shows at the lovely Del Mar Fairgrounds next week. Bob is ready - ish, Truly is so eager to go she runs to the car every time I finish brushing her, and Riley and Mirage have been sleeping next to the folded crates so we don’t sneak out without them. Silly pups.

What a weekend! We headed over to Surprise, AZ for our annual participation in the Kachina KC shows and had a lovely time. We got to hang out with Cathey and Dash, Jennie and Kuma and Murphy, and Deb and Basil. Bob got some much-needed (and valuable) experience, Dash and Basil each snagged three-point majors, and Riley slid in under the radar (not really - he’s such a ham) and snagged a five point major with his Select. Many thanks to the family, too, for bingo and pizza - love you, Daryl and Lisa.

Next stops to be determined, but watch this space for the schedule.

Update with ring times as follows: Saturday we’re the first breed in ring 2 the 10:30 time slot, with Group judging starting in rings 3 and 4 at 2:30, with Herding currently listed as the fourth group. NOHS Group judging follows in ring 5 and Bred By Exhibitor (BBE) Group judging after NOHS in ring 6. Final group order will be announced half an hour before the start of Group competition.

Sunday we’re the second breed into ring 7 after 2 Sloughi (Sloughis?) bright and early at 8 am. Groups start at 3pm in rings 3 and 4 with Herding surrealists as the second group, followed by NOHS Group in rings 5 and 6. Again, final group order will be announced half an hour before judging is scheduled to begin.

Please make the time to come see us and enjoy the show. Mark Coronado Park is lovely and this show has been well-run the other times we have attended so we’ll be looking for a very fabulous event.

Prepping for our first show of the year, Kachina KC Copper Classic, held at the Mark Coronado Park in Surprise, AZ January 25 and 26. This time it’s just the boys, but a major in class and for BOB a five-point major! I can’t wait to see all the other competitors. Once I have our ring times, I will update this post.

A very happy 2025 to all our friends and family. The dogs greeted the new year by enjoying turkey necks and backs, lucky pups. And we hosted the grandpuppy, Heimdall, while our kids enjoyed a NYE party at the in-laws’ house.

No pictures yet courtesy of the dead skunk my dogs just HAD to show me by wafting it, meaning baths instead of portraits. But happy 2nd whelpday to my Argos x Mirage litter: Tucker, Truly, Jack, Dash, Bob and Saber!! All are healthy, happy, and living their best lives and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Thanks to Jennie LaPrade, Warren, Rand, Cathey and Aarti (and Indrani). Woohoo. Good pups. 🐶

Welcome all new followers! I hope everyone is having a fun last few weeks and shows / sports / downtime as we wrap 2024! Here we’re preparing to celebrate this las litter’s second birthday (already??!!) and lining up the shows for January and February of 2025, starting with the Kachina show in Surprise, Arizona the last week of January. This far we are looking at a major in boys! Join us if you can.

Whew! It’s been a minute, folks, but we’re back. High heat and a persistent tummy bug set us back about two weeks but the dogs haven’t missed a step; Bob is finally regaining his elegance after a burst of puberty and Truly is as gorgeous a diva as ever, while Mirage has become even more graceful, if that’s possible, now that she’s five and just hitting her prime. Riley, the old man (and Grand Champion) is very eager to get back to the show and Rally competitions and we’re looking at getting a Trick Dog title or two as well. Dash in Arizona with Cathey Dunn is ever more handsome and is building a true, functioning partnership with Cathey while still being puppy enough to get into mischief. He loves his big sister Asha and big brother Jazz who just celebrated his 14th birthday.
Saber continues to charm his area of Chicago and I hope to head that way soon to see just how lovely he’s growing up to be; he may well e ready to embark on a whirlwind show jaunt this year as well, and while I’m in that part of the country I hope to also pop over to Michigan to give loves to Jack with his family, particularly his special person and her quest to get into junior handling, adding to Jack’s ring experiences. Last but not least, first-born Tucker is absolutely thriving with his family in SoCal and I hope to spend some time with him at the end of the month when I am up near there with Donna at the shows in Orange County.
