Getting ready for our December Pack Hike at Natirar Park on December 14th at 10:00am! We will be doing the big 8-figure loop. This trail is accessible to carts, wheelchairs, etc. There is a small section that may be difficult for some wheels, though. This is a busy trail, and you can expect to see lots of people out walking dogs who are not part of our group. It will be a great challenge in neutrality!
Each year, I ask pack hikers to bring a donation for a local rescue or shelter. This year, we will be donating to Somerset Regional Animal Shelter.
They would appreciate donations of:
- leashes
- martingale collars
- food and water bowls for Cats
- and any monetary donations are always appreciated!
If you are able, I ask that you bring any and all donations on the day of the hike. I will bring them to the shelter afterward to donate on behalf of our group. If you have something you would like to donate, but you aren't sure if it can be used by the shelter, let me know, and I can get in touch with them to be sure!
As always, please be sure to follow our group rules:
1. Keep all dogs on a 6ft leash or shorter at all times
2. No on-leash greetings between dogs
3. No touching someone's dog without permission from the owner
4. Clean up after your dog.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We at Canine Potential are deeply thankful for our amazing clients and the dedication you show every day to reach your goals with your dogs. Thank you for trusting us to be your trainer and for allowing us to be a part of your journey to achieve your greatest potential with your dog.

We are grateful for another fantastic year and look forward to many more ahead helping both dogs and owners.

I realized I never posted about Vinny!
Welcoming Vinny to the Canine Potential Pack!
Vinny is with us for hybrid board and train. He is almost at the end of his stay and will follow up at home with private lessons to make sure his parents are keeping up with all the hard work he did while he was here!

Welcoming Mila to the Canine Potential Pack!
This little French girl is here for the board and train portion of her Hybrid B&T package. While here, we will introduce her to the ecollar and help teach her how to make good decisions so that she can have success when she gets home!
We are so excited for Mila to flourish in training!

I'm excited to announce the November Pack Hike!
We are trying Round Valley again. Those who joined this hike last year toughed out pretty extreme trial conditions. And while that was fun, we want to give this trail another try under better conditions.
We will be meeting in the South Parking lot at 10 am on November 16th and doing the Pine Tree to Water trail (green to dark blue), which is about 3 miles long. The terrain varies, so please wear sturdy hiking boots and be sure to pack water for yourself and your dog.
Remember to RSVP to Michelle to let me know you will be there!

Thank you to those who were able to make it out to our Pumpkin Picking and Painting event last weekend! We had a great time working on neutrality and duration skills with our dogs while practicing our artistic skills! Everyone got snacks, took pics in the photo booth, and enjoyed great company!

Gotta love the unnecessary comments from the peanut gallery.
Believe it or not, these are all comments I heard within 1 hour of walking on a single trail.
While none of it is malicious, and more than likely, just someone awkwardly trying to be friendly, I definitely get why many of my clients don't feel comfortable walking their reactive dogs in public. When they're approached and bombarded left and right by people feeling like they just need to say something, it can be extremely frustrating to navigate with a reactive or fearful dog.
And trust me, a big scary dog doesn't help. You just get more comments about how you don't look capable of handling them.

It's fall, y'all.
But seriously, this is probably my favorite time of year, and I'm so glad these two are willing to humor me with photo shoots everywhere we go.
We are so excited for all the fall events we have planned this year and can't wait to share them with friends, family, and clients!
Go out and take fall photos with your dogs before winter sets in! And tag me so I can enjoy all the adorable photos with you!
