The Long Road Ahead 48 States To Ride In From the beginning of this ride, it has been laid on my heart to bring awareness to unjustified warrants.
(1)

I left Illinois with an unjustified warrant for Failure To Appear. When I'm done I will cross the Illinois State bridge on horseback to surrender.

I'm a penny shy of an arm and a leg but I'm ready to roll to the next event.
I've been reflecting the last couple days and am happier each day about how everything went. Not only did God save us from a break down on the interstate or even a slow country road but also the amazing adventures me and Jack get into and the awesome people we come across. You can't make this kind of life up. I have such amazing friends and getting so many more along the way.
One if life's lessons is always value the people you run into. You never know if its them that's gonna keep you on course or not.
I wanna thank my friend Keith Kibler for steering me in the right direction and giving me last minute advice, helping me with what he could, and the wealth of knowledge he hyou

Oh and I almost forgot thank you Sarah for telling which way to go back to camp. You could a just let me go the wrong way and passed me but you didn't. Thank you

5 hrs and 19 minutes to do 30 miles.

The rules are bit different than I had thought. The only other person who entered the race on the 30 LD did not qualify this morning and the time to start was changed to where I was riding with the competitive group. Even though there was only three of us I was riding with two if the most experienced riders UMECRA has. Really great rider's. I actually really enjoyed the ride. On the first loop I just followed at the slower pace and it turned out to be a nice pace. Yes slower than I'm used to, but the time was efficient. Great conversations and great experience.
Getting into camp we all had the same time but I was third on entry and pulsed down in 6 minutes. Vet check went great. The second loop I followed again but about 10 miles in jack decided to take the sketchy trail rather than the short distance going around and took the lead. From there Lori said I could take the lead if I wanted and its like jack understood and I just let him set the pace. We were soon in front and gaining ground. At one point Lori and Sarah caught up and it spooked jack and he just took off faster. We hot in minutes ahead of them and pulsed down in 6 minutes again. Again the vet check was a breeze. I didn't come to compete, just finish, and I sure didn't come to win, but it looks like out first ride got us a first place ribbon out of default annnnnnd we beat everyone else. I am so stoked. I knew Jack was special. I'm so proud of him.
Time for a new pair of riding boots though.

As I'm true to form, we have started out next journey. Although I'm not planning on winning an endurance race tomorrow we are entering a limited distance 30 mile race. Its been a while but its nice to say hello. I will post tomorrow and let you guys know how Jack did.

I was contacted the other day by a person that was concerned that Jack may have passed away. I promise you he hasn't. I've been spending a lot of time nurturing a new friendship, building a garden, working to cover costs on many things, traveling, etc... Although I haven't been much in the saddle lately, I will be at Greensfelder this weekend running side by side with an endurance group there. I can't wait.

Even when your trail brings you places you'd prefer not to have to be, it's heart warming to realize you're not alone. Someone at some point was on this trail before you were. Ride safe. Stay strong.

Yesterday's ride was awesome. This group of people are amazing riders. It's funny, in life, I've always been a tough guy. I've always had a hard time seeing people as tough. Yeah you may be strong, you might be able to win a fight, you might be big and intimidating but for me to see you as tough takes so much more. It's not till the last year that I've met some really amazing people that truly are tough as nails. One who truly inspires me, not only by beating cancer but by not letting cancer slow her down to the point she gave up on life. Last year she just kept riding. Regardless how weak she felt, she got in the saddle and enjoyed the ride. Last weekend instead of training, I got to see her once again. She's beaten cancer and her hair is growing back. I can't imagine how great she feels, but I can see she's even tougher than I. Here's the kicker all these tough guys, they're all well older than me. 60's 70's and even an 83 year old man that rides in the group. Yesterday an 83 year old kept up with me like he was a young buck and full of energy. I love life, I love my friends, and I love being able to have the best friends in the world.

By the way, I only got out far in front a couple times. But I can definitely see and others as well Jack is my endurance horse. He's gonna do me good.

It's weird....
I spent so long teaching Jack to walk slow on trails, now I'm training him to go as fast as possible.

Last weekend I couldn't get away and go riding with the group, and this weekend I have so much to do but I have to keep training. It's so much easier to live a life retired and just do what you want, but I've come out of retirement to spend a few months paying off things and pulling some money together for something that looks like is coming up so much faster than I anticipated.

Today I'm hoping the group brings their fastest horses. Yes it's nice hearing " your horse is faster than mine" but I want to see how far Jack can go among some of the fastest horses in the sport. Last weekend was the fastest I've ever ridden bobbing in and out of trees and it was a breeze. Jack makes me look so much better than I am. So much so that the lead in the group stated that I'm capable of riding any horse he has. Let me tell you, when you're as green in the saddle as only a year riding, and you hear such compliment, it's heartwarming, especially after hearing from some on the endurance pages comments akin to " you'll never be as good as us".

If you're reading this, or reading this to your kids, or someone else who needs encouraged, keep your head up. You can do all things. Don't let one person's limitations be your highest goals. Always be safe, but always know, we have not unlocked our full potential as riders. One day, we will figure out how to get our horses to do back flips.

Eli, a registered quarter horse, is the newest addition to the family. One day I’ll be able to share the back story, but till then I’m just gonna enjoy the ride.
Training day 1
This is a pic of Jack from the other day. When you’re riding with world class endurance racers theirs not much time for pics and videos unless you wanna loose your phone. Jack did amazing today. I met up with some very well known endurance riders to start getting Jack ready for his first 50 mile race. Over and over again those riding with complimented me and voiced how amazed they are that I’ve only been riding for a year, and commented on how fast Jack is. I was even told the next ride they will bring their fastest horses so we can actually put Jack to the test. I’m guessing the group didn’t expect us to be as fast as we are so they brought slower horses out, which by slower I mean.... faster than normal horses, just not their fastest.... really amazing people and helpful in all things.

Well, it’s been a while, but true to form, I’m back. So much has happened since the last time I posted, and really not much at all. Between driving back and forth to Texas a couple times, lots of remodeling, picking up another horse, life changing moments, and lots of time in church, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time to get back in the saddle with my trusted stead.
I’ve ridden him a few times lately and gotta admit the time off did not help with training. Jack has gone from perfectly broken, to slightly hard to handle. I went riding the other day with a friend, who just like me a year ago, is inexperienced in the saddle. The ride was rough but the time spent on the trail was awesome. I don’t think Jack liked the time off.
Today starts getting some endurance training in with a couple well known endurance champions here back home. Like I’ve said before Jack has competition times and I’d love to find out just how fast he really is in a safe environment to ensure that he isn’t pushing himself too hard. Jack comes first.
More after we get back. I’ve missed you guys. Thank you for following.

I’m trying to understand the value set on horses. After knowing what I paid for Jack, and our long trip together that has brought us closer together, honestly I wouldn’t take 10,000 for him.

12,876 miles in 83 days is definitely not the shortest route or the fastest time to get to all 48 states, and of course that’s a few hundred miles of driving around getting supplies, looooots of down time for Jack, etc...., but this is the time to beat.
In the near future I’m going to go through all my notes and figure out all of our stops and map out the route any who wants to compete with this time and miles would have to go. I’m thinking a 1,000.00 cash prize and I think I will have a buckle made to pass down to each consecutive best times, with a few rules to go by, one horse, one truck, one trailer, one rider, certain number of days off etc... this’ll be fun

15/11/2021

I’m in Henderson Kentucky waiting for my Atty strike a deal and get this warrant off the books. Till then I will enjoy some nice weather and beautiful views. I have ridden in all 48 states in 83 days and have seen so many beautiful places. It’s time for Jack to rest for a while but this isn’t the end of our journey, we will continue riding wherever God takes us. We will see you on the trailsI. If you’ve enjoyed this adventure send a like or a share. Let’s get the word out that it doesn’t matter your skill level, the beauty of your truck and trailer, the breed of your horse, or how many people try to say you can’t do it, you can do it. Have confidence in yourself.

Marlboro, New Hampshire.
I was informed the day before yesterday about the health of a close family member and have been making my way back home. Luckily all the states i haven’t gotten to are pretty much in the way back.
I’ve picked the pace up drastically, Driving longer days, with more stops, and riding trails closer to the route. I will finish this trip a lot sooner than expected.

So here I am minding my own business getting ready to go for a ride, and guess what I found? Although it would be really nice to have found out what was in it,I guess I will never know. It did sound full. Hopefully the police can find the rightful owner.

Here we go, it’s really nice having control of Jack’s speed. We got a little over 11 miles in on this trail in New Hampshire and another couple miles on another one in Keene New Hampshire

I got my video started late and you can barely hear my soft voice telling Jack to go right at the very beginning but I wanted brag on him today. With Two states down and a trail in each state I’m happy to announce Jack’s broke. I’ve got him down to roughly 3.5 mph instead of ten, he takes commands without fighting any more, today he weaved in and out of trees at times without any prompt to get around fallen trees, and today was the most flooded trail I have ever been on but I new the trail had heavy rock throughout it so I pushed Jack to keep going. But my pushing now was mainly just sitting in the saddle till he was ready but after a while each spot that was flooded he would just go, he whoa’s with hardly any problems any more, especially in the woods. Aaaaaand will walk any street in the world.
Now that he’s broke, it’s time to set our next goals. On another page, while sincerely attempting to get some advice for getting Jacks heart monitor set up, both myself and Jack were insulted. Basically some coming off as if we weren’t good enough to even ask advice. Soooooo here I am, I know, and you have seen over this trip, Jack can hold a steady 10mph pace which I have successfully gotten control of his speed. In Dec is a 25 mile endurance race I’m going to register Jack in and completely obliterate their 6 hour time limit for 25 miles. They think we can’t, and we are going to laugh all the way to the finish line. But between now and then, since I have his speed under control, we will step up the speed and get him dialed in for a good safe win. Jack’s time in the spotlight isn’t going to end after 48 states. We may push next for a win in all 48. Who’s on board?

I’m back on the road. With Rhode Island out of the way and an encounter with a hunter out on the trail I wanted to remind everyone to be careful out there.
