For shelter staff & volunteers, it is heartbreaking to watch genuinely good dogs get over looked time and time again. Whether it is a personality quirk, a physical trait, or something in between, dogs that are friendly, happy, and healthy are not getting adopted... spending weeks - if not months - sitting in a concrete run, anxiously waiting the day they get to walk out the front door and go home.
While some dogs are lucky enough to spend their adoptable time in a foster home, others live full time at the shelter. Please take a minute to watch this video, highlighting 12 dogs that have been waiting 48 days or longer for their happily ever after.
Spending over 23 hours a day in their kennel or pop up crate, these dogs are full of energy and eager to meet new friends every chance they get... while this can be off-putting, we are begging adopters to give them just 20 minutes to show you who they really are. Take a chance on them!
Every one of these dogs is unique, loving, and deserving of a life outside of these walls.

Kayla & David got to enjoy some time out of their kennels today! 🐾
Check them out!
"My daughter and I went to Berkeley Animal Center and took 2 dogs (seperately) for a Doggie Day Out!
Kayla has been waiting 50 days for her forever home and David has been waiting for 48 days. I can't understand why. In their own ways, they are both awesome dogs that will make great additions to their future families with love and time."
Please watch this video to learn about each of them, and if one of them sounds like they may be your perfect match, head to BAC Tuesday through Saturday between 1pm and 5pm 💙
They always recommend bringing any dogs or kids in the home to ensure a great fit!
If you can't adopt, please consider fostering or taking a dog on a Doggie Day Out to give them time out of the shelter.
Tyler is looking for someone who wants to share his stuffies with him. 🥺
This cute 4 year old boy is new to the adoption floor, and he'd love to find his home sooner rather than later. He is fun, friendly, and so so cute.
Check out Tyler - and if he sounds like the pup of your dreams, head to Berkeley Animal Center TOMORROW or SATURDAY between 1pm and 5pm to make it official. 💙
Bring your dog(s) to ensure a great fit. Cat tests can be done upon request.
❤️🩹 Tyler is heartworm positive, so his treatment will be covered by BAC. He is already neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. He is considered 'foster to adopt' until he finishes treatment.
💗 Meet Suzie! 💗
This beautiful and fun girl is waiting for someone to choose HER!
If Suzie seems like your perfect match, head to Berkeley Animal Center between 1pm and 5pm this week to meet her!
Suzie does best with slow introductions to other dogs, so a meet & greet is suggested to ensure a GREAT fit! She can be cat tested if needed.
Trudi was given the gift of mobility after coming into Berkeley Animal Center, but the greatest gift of all would be a home 💗
This beautiful, pocket sized girl is about 3 years old and has been paralyzed for some time. Brought in by Animal Control, it is unknown how long she was on the streets trying to survive with no use of her back legs. Thanks to a generous donor, she has her own set of wheels now and is ready to rip around a yard of her very own. This happy-go-lucky pup is all smiles and is beyond sweet to everyone she meets.
She gets around great with and without her wheel chair. Her home would need no stairs or a ramp for her.
Trudi would love to find a foster or forever home this week as she is starting to feel very sad at the shelter.
Meet & greets are required to ensure a great fit, and cat tests are done upon request. Visit her at 131 Central Berkeley Dr in Moncks Corner, SC if you are interested in making Trudi a part of your family!
Lane re-post because he's so stinking cute & still waiting for his forever family 💔
Name: Lane
Age: 1.5 yrs
Good with big and small dogs, and cats and kittens.
I'd do best in a home with a work from home situation or a confident dog to help me learn the ropes.
Favorite snack: All the things.
Favorite toy: Squeakies are the best!! I love my Wubba. Antlers are fun too.
Likes: I likes lots of room to run! I run like the wind! And I like being chased when I'm running so I can show off how fast I am. I also really like swimming!
Dislikes: New situations can make me a little unsure, but as long as I have a confident leader I'm up for any adventure!
Crate trained: Yes. I will bark some, but it helps to have my crate covered and a radio next to me during the day. I sleep quietly through the night.
Potty trained: I had a couple of accidents early on, but not recently. Foster mom keeps me on a good schedule and I have started asking to go outside by hitting the back door or the potty bells.
My fosters favorite thing about me: My goofy, happy personality that is showing through, especially when playing with foster brothers.
I need more help with: Continuing to build my confidence. I'm extremely curious, but cautious. Structure and a confident dog in my forever home will help a lot.
Some other things my foster wants you to know: I have learned Sit (both verbal and hand signal), Touch, Down, and Stay. I also know where to sit at meal time, and how to "Sit in my seat". I walk well on leash.
I'm a great car rider, I lie down quietly in the back seat, and have gained enough confidence to jump up into the car on my own now.
If you are interested in making Lane your forever adventure buddy, please send us or Wag N Splash Swim a message to set up a meet & greet. His adoption will include a free 3 month pass to Wag N Dash Play Yard! Located in the Moncks Corner, SC area.
Check out TUCKER! He is about 5 years old and is neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccines - which means he is ready to find the forever family of his dreams!
Tucker would love a big yard to play in and someone who likes to talk as much as he does. He got to enjoy some time in the play yard today and learned some new tricks! 🐾
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Tucker, visit him at Berkeley Animal Center!
