"Wait" can be used in multiple settings and situations to enhance the ability. Before any kind of group setting can be done, each dog needs to be trained separately to understand the command before being used together. During meal time with multiple dogs, an added stress of a valuable resource is added. As seen in both dogs, it takes a moment for them to lock into their "Focus" at which time they are released back into their food time. Connection and eye contact is ALWAYS rewarded!

Wait means wait - until I release! Important things to stress: do not over command your dogs, they heard you the first time. If you're facing them while you're backing away, we aren't being realistic - learning to follow and command without eye contact is a huge lesson! And lastly, have fun with your dogs and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

When the puppy immediately bonds on you on arrival 🥰 Sasha knew the vibe! Amira is a first time dog owner who was ready to start off on the right paw with her rescue Sasha. Things we worked on: identifying when Sasha had to relieve herself, transitioning out of p*e pads, self-confidence, puppy socialization, desensitizing loud noises and cars. We worked on learning proper leash behavior and connecting with mom for confidence and safety over focusing on outside stimulation. Amira and Sasha are in a great starting position and are destined for greatness and love!

Amigos, meet Oakley! This wonderful boy was in need of some separation from feeling protective over his older brother Ferg. We introduced walks alone with his family, giving space with impulses and even walking on the treadmill! We went over ways that dogs show stress for his owners to be able to identify his emotions easier. We worked on how to desensitize the process of going for a walk and how to properly greet visitors instead of barking & jumping. Lots of love and fun training ahead for this sweet boy and family ❤️

Our tails are wagging! Chelsea reached out to us to help her with her boy Finn and lady Rooney. This gentleman was in need of clear direction, a relaxed leash, space from outside impulses and some extra self-confidence from training with mom. In slide 4 we see a classic 'posturing' stature: hind legs extended, rigid tail upwards, and unwavering eye contact with his impulse. I went over a multi-prong approach of how to help Finn break from this stress and instead to focus on her for support. Lastly, as we always do, we learned and played some awesome mental games to strengthen their connection!

Can you handle the cuteness on this man?! Enter River, a Golden Retriever with all included energy. In our lesson we worked on redirecting him from pulling mom to him paying attention to her on walks. We introduced mentally stimulating games so that his dog brain was being exercised. Instead of going after his older sister, we showed his owner how to curtail play before it got out of hand. Lastly, crate training! The crate is a positive place for your pet and always should be - so we implemented some fun training and games for that. Good things ahead for this family!

As if Saturday wasn't cute enough already! Meet, handsome boy Beau, the sweetest 2 year old Bernedoodle! As a COVID pup, he acquired some interesting behaviors that his loving owners wanted help with changing. He has issues with them leaving and we worked through small step training scenarios to desensitize him to their exit of the apartment and their leaving routine. He is enthralled when anyone visits and is now learning how to greet them properly with specific relaxed behaviors. Lastly, we worked on some fun and smart mental stimulation tricks and games to engage his poodle mind! Beau and his owners are smart, hard-working go-getters so we are very excited to see their progress!

Pack members, meet Sam - our newest bark-tastic addition! He's an 11 month Vizsla with an amazing personality. Sam's owner wanted help with his jumping, counter surfing, recall and play nipping at family members. We worked on methods of redirection to substitute for his jumping on visitors and impulse control. He loved focus training and his dad is excited to start too! Dad even said this was the calmest he's been in months during our training session 🥰 Sam also got started on scent training for mental stimulation and is looking forward to agility training at home with us in the spring 🐕

How a year can change a boy! Welcome back Bosco with a huge, loving personality to match. What we worked on with Bosco was understanding how to channel his excited energy when guests arrive into ways we found acceptable. Healthy boundaries are key! I showed his owners different ways to help him self soothe, calm himself down, focus on his owner instead of jumping on guests and lastly, how to have the guests join in on games to redirect Bosco's excitement. Additionally, we worked on some fun mentally stimulating games to tire him out and reinforce recall. Big moves for big Bosco!

🚨Cute boy alert 🚨 Dio is an absolute sweetheart with a lot of energy! Samantha and I went over his seemingly stressed behavior with new and old visitors. I taught them training methods to help him key in on her instead of stressing over stimuli. We worked on reframing his crate from time out zone into a positive calming down space. Given his intellect, he picked up on our training and we immediately saw a change in his demeanor! Excited to give Samantha and Dio a much calmer and happier place to work toward together ❤️

Dogs can do more than you think! Painting with Gibson was a breeze - but why? Foundation work by his owner: handling (he was comfortable with me manipulating and painting his paws, applying paw pressure on the canvas), he has a solid 'sit' and 'stay' as I was moving paint and brushes and great obedience to maintain calmness while he channeled his inner Picasso! There are plenty of fun crafts to do with your dog for gifts and fun reminders of them to put around the house - what's something fun or creative you've done with your pup?

Double dog duty! First up, Cooper - an 8 month old Lab with A LOT of energy. Jumping is a common issue I constantly help with which is handled with a multi-prong approach. Setting healthy spacial boundaries, setting the dog up for situations where jumping is taken away as an option and diversion with positive attention/training. We also worked on setting up his crate as a positive place and of course, some mental stimulation! With Riley, our terrier mix, we worked on building her self confidence since she recently moved from Rochester. We addressed her walk pulling and how to connect her more to her owners. I set her owners up with some fun recall games to get her to keep track of them, not vice versa. Looking forward to all their upcoming success!

How quickly we grow! When I first started working with Mal, she had a lot of trouble with bite inhibition, was still learning to sit and understanding what healthy boundaries were for attention. I set her family up with some strict guidelines, games to play with her and tips to encourage healthy boundaries. Fast forward to our late June visit and enter this changed girl! She knew how to sit, play the focus games, didn't bite, and had her recall down. We worked on proper leash etiquette, implementing training on walks, drop it, crate behavior, not rushing open doors and sitting during stopped points during walks. Mal has a very lucky life with her family and I can't wait to see her progress soon!

+1 for pack 🐕 Noodle came from a rescue and is off to a wonderful start with two extremely loving and caring parents. Given he had recently moved in, we started working on his immediate separation anxiety with them through even just a door. Combined with building his confidence with specific training and impulse control, Noodle was catching on extremely fast! We went over methods to make his crate a happy place for him and somewhere that he will find mentally stimulating things in and give him reason to seek out on his own. We also worked on making sure Noodle didn't rush out any doors which is a life saving technique that all dogs should know. Excited to see the family's continued success!

And the Ruffalo pack grows by one more! This gorgeous lady's name is Marz, and she is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. These birding dogs(Springer Spaniels) are very well known for their scent ability and high energy. Playing to her strengths, I worked with her owners on fun training exercises that would mentally challenge her and integrating scent work. We also worked on training her to not bolt out doors (crate and house), impulse control on waiting for her food to be placed, how to properly greet visitors, focus work and appropriate ways for the owners and children to play with her. Cannot wait to see how sharp this girl's nose gets and into an even better family treasure!

A tired pup is a good pup! Scroll to the end to see what we mean! This is Kiki, purebred Boxer who is the first dog of her household. Renee, along with her 3 young girls were all very excited to finally add this little girl to their family. Being their first dog, Renee researched a lot (excellent start!) but all too often, too much information (and internet) can be overwhelming. It was nice to be able to give Renee streamlined advice and training on how to tackle and prioritize issues with Kiki. We went over transitioning her from potty pads indoors to outdoor elimination. We worked on crate training and how to transform it into a positive place. Lastly, we worked with the girls on how to play and handle their new puppy respectfully and some neat tricks for fun!

This beautiful smile! Met this amazing boy and his owner a few weeks ago and the progress they have made already is something to talk about! When I first walked in, he could not reign himself in, barking and jumping at the end of the leash trying to get to me - and I worked with him to redirect and hone in his energy. I left them with tips and tools and by the next visit, he was relaxed and calm in under five minutes. A true testament to the work his mom and dad put into their training. Next up, we work on his outside leash behavior and learning to control his impulse control!

Woof about a fun visit! Gina has two Aussie littermates, Freddie & Zee. She was encountering issues that a lot owners do with siblings of the same litter. Freddie & Zee have made an incredible bond together and we needed to help their owner become center focus again. We started this process with a multi-prong approach: separated training with each dog, training specifically for them to keep their eyes on her, fun tricks to keep them excited by her and high reward recall with a twist. Going forward, we are looking forward to grow their bond with her with some backyard agility to get those Aussie brains really running! #716

As if training with this beautiful boy wasn't a treat enough for me - this glowing review was a cherry on top! Skullie is a VERY sweet pit mix but due to his mix, his owners were nervous that some oh his current behavior might lead him into trouble down the line. I couldn't have met a sweeter boy and family who was so excited to work with him and reengage in training. We worked on impulse control, tackled ideas to help with leash aggression on walks, discussed his obsession with a ball and how to use that to our training advantage and how to properly approach guests as they enter. Very much so looking forward to seeing him soon!

Hola and bienvenidos Toasty the black lab! This boy was FULL of energy, thought biting was an acceptable way to get attention and was jumping up to say hello. With these issues, we worked on diversionary tactics on how to lead him to participate in positive behavior that would get him attention. Most times, dogs are bored and need mental stimulation and application to make them even happier at home and as seen here, a very tired good and tired boy ❤️

Cutie time! Puppies are undoubtedly among the cutest but also come with a lot of work. I love working with owners who are ready from the get go to start off on the right paw! It is never too early or too late to start positive reinforcement training. The importance of strengthening the bond between dog and owner cannot be stressed enough. Caleb already had a wonderful training foundation by his family which allowed me to dive even deeper into more advanced subjects with them. The point of Ruffalo training is to personalize each experience to get maximum education and fun for dog and owner! #716

And another beautiful boy added to the Ruffalo gang! Insert Tyson, a lovable and timid mix who just needed a little guidance on self love. While Tyson loves playing with his Whippet sister, he has a hard time understanding when it's time to calm down. Through talking with his owner, we figured out optimal times to train instead of letting his energy get the best of him. We tackled different approaches to dissuade his begging at dinner and how to let guests properly introduce themselves to him. This is especially important as our goal is to make Tyson feel comfortable and confident around all guests! By the end of our lesson, Tyson and I had a tough time leaving each other but luckily, we'll be seeing each other very soon! #716

Winner winner waffle dinner! Sophie and Bree couldn't be happier to win the Valentine's Day contest (check out their bandanas)! Tricks for getting these two to smile for the camera? A treat right above the camera lens and a good ol' "Want to go for a walk?!" spruces their ears right up! The Bocce's crunchy treats from our winnings are a big favorite among these two. Even though Bree was insistent on photo bombing us (see second picture 🤣), everyone was handsomely rewarded for good participation and patience. Special shout out to our photographer 📸

Winter can be RUFF in Buffalo - but always easier when training puppies! Enter Rosie, the cutest golden doodle you might ever meet with one of the sweet families I've worked with! The parents were overjoyed with their puppy but I couldn't be more impressed with how attentive their younger sons were to training. We dove right into training and how to keep Rosie from play biting and focus on positive techniques to divert her attention. We went over methods to help with potty time signalling. We discussed positive socialization and how to help Rosie be the ultimate family dog! Cannot wait to see them all again soon!
