---The adoption fee for dogs 7 months and older is $200 Puppies 6 months and younger are $225(cash or check) Senior/hospice dogs are discounted on a per dog basis. All dogs are spayed/neutered and are current on their vaccinations and wormings. Adult dogs go out on a one week trial before finalizing their adoption. DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED! We have been super delinquent in taking pictures over the holidays, but we need to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have donated food, treats, toys, paper towels and cleaning supplies over this holiday season. The puppies thank you! The happy new families thank you! And the fosters and other volunteers at H.A.N.D.D.S thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

+++Nibbs, 1 1/2 year old female Pug/French Bulldog mix.
House trained, crate trained (although she doesn't like going in and sometimes will whine a bit when first in). Fine when left out loose and would love to sleep with you, but she snores. Nibbs is good with dogs and cats, loves kids, good in the car.
Not huge on toys, but sometimes will play with a ball. OK on a leash, pulls when she's excited.
Nibbs is a great little companion as she just wants to hang out with you on the couch. A little shy at first, but warms up fairly quickly, faster to men than women but will take whatever lap is available.

We were able to adopt out 5 Great Dane puppies this past weekend, but Laverne and Shirley are still waiting to find homes. These sweet, sweet girls are just looking for someone to love them. They are about 4-5 yrs old, they can be adopted together or separately ( adoption fees are sponsered). While they are great together, if adopted alone, each would prefer to be the only dog in the household. They are good with cats and kids and love ALL humans. Hansel, 18 week old male Australian Cattle Dog mix. Crate trained and doing very well with house training. Good with other dogs. Can be skittish with new people, but after he warms up will happily follow you everywhere and curl up next to you on the couch. Loves toys of all kinds, learning to play fetch. Gets car sick on long car rides, doing well with short car rides now. Doing very well with off-leash recall. Wants to stick with his person and will follow you around the house.

Hansel needs a person that will be patient with him for his first couple weeks as he settles into your household and gets to know you. Only older, dog-savvy kids at this time, due to his initial skittishness. If you would like to meet Hansel please send us a message —make sure to include your phone number

Hansel and Gretel - 17 week old Australian Cattle Dog mixes. Hansel and Gretel are crate trained (but will bark at noises) and are working on house training. They both love to play with toys of all kinds, are good with other dogs, and are scared of chickens. They were not socialized well in their first three months of life, so they can be a bit skittish with new people, but warm up fairly quickly as long as they are not grabbed or feel trapped. Because of this, no small children, only older, dog-savvy kids.

Hansel is the more independent of the two, while Gretel is the cuddler. They are both good puppies, who will make great dogs for someone with a little patience to work through their initial skittish-ness. Hi there!! My names Donny! I’m a 3 month old currently un-neutered male (more on that in a second) Shepherd mix, about 30 pounds right now. I’m on the search for the perfect home, can you help me out??

I am very sweet, playful boy who loves to be with people and other dogs! I also love chew toys and ice cubes!! I’m learning to potty outside and I do ok in the crate. I came into rescue with two toes missing on my front foot, lost somewhere at the place where I came from. The Dr says that this could cause me to have arthritis in my joints later on, but it doesn’t bother me at all right now!

***Back to the un-neutered part. They say I’m something called cryptorchid. Please google this term to prevent me any more embarrassment🙈! Due to this “situation”, the Dr says we have to wait another month before I have surgery, so I am looking for a foster to adopt home. The rescue will cover the cost of the surgery and my adoption will be finalized at that time.***

Hi 👋 My name is Marie! I’m a 3 month old spayed female Shepherd mix, currently about 30 pounds. I am on the search for the perfect forever home! Could you please help me out by sharing this post??

I have lots of energy, love to play and am super sweet! I am still learning how to keep my puppy teeth off of things that don’t belong to me, so a home without small children and small toys would be best at this time. I also enjoy a friendly game of “chase the ducks” when I have the opportunity, so I do need supervision around birds and smaller animals. Potty training is getting easier, but I’m not crazy about the crate. I am a skilled climber/jumper and will need either >4 foot or underground perimeter barrier.

***I came to rescue with some old injuries, one of which is requiring me to have a surgical procedure to amputate my left rear leg when I get bigger. Due to this, I’m looking for a foster to adopt home. The rescue will cover the cost of my surgery when it’s time and then I’m ALL yours!!***

Update!!! Athena is safe! Her foster mom was able to catch sight of her and Athena went to her immediately!!We have an Athena sighting. Seen at Cochlin & Beadle St heading towards Fair st. Her foster mom is going there now. Again- do not approach Athena or call out to her. If you see her message us or call 231-645-6040 or 231-632-1397 Athena is a 3 legged dog who is very skittish

Athena, 2 year old female mixed breed, 34 pounds. Athena came to us from a shelter, needing to have her rear leg amputated from a previous injury. She has recovered well from her surgery and is now looking for a home. Athena is very nervous to meet new people and experience new things, her potential adopter must have patience to earn her trust- treats are the way to her heart. A quiet home, with no small children, that doesn't get a lot of visitors would be ideal. Once she warms up to you, she will be your constant companion, she loves to cuddle, give kisses and nap- sleeping in bed with you is where she wants to be. Athena is good with other dogs but doesn't always want to share toys, she loves chew toys and bones. She is housebroken (may have an occasional accident if you miss her cue), will crate, but not pleased about it and will vocalize her displeasure. Magic, 3 year old 60 pound female Golden Retriever/ Standard Poodle mix. Housebroken, crate and leash trained, good with dogs, cats and kids. Knows basic commands, likes a good game of fetch, playing with other dogs and wrestling or cuddling with her people. Magic can be quite vocal while playing and when excited. Adopter needs to be aware that this mix of breeds requires a regular commitment to grooming. +++ We have a large number of people interested.
