Wyatt officially started training today. This this was not his first experience with stock it was his first time getting a little pressure to start his training. All his other sessions were just letting him have some moderated fun.

We got two new Sherrifs in town ready to boss the bandits coming after our Dorpers and we are looking for fitting names. Thinking something from the Wild West would be fitting either a famous sheriff or marshal. Boths are males. Shoot me your ideas!

This young border collie was scared of a side by side when she first came to me. She wouldn’t load in the back or come near it. Her owner uses one every day so this was very important for her to get accustom to. After getting a good foundation on her I started training from the side by side to help her gain confidence and learn that it’s just apart of the job. She’s still a little nervous at times but she’s come a long ways in 60 days.
Teaching inside flanks today as well as teaching this one to work off balance, one of the most important things for a farm dog to learn. Inside flanks are when the dog comes in between the handler and the stock on command. Working off balance is when the dog works against their natural instinct and comes towards the handler instead of away from the pressure.
This border collie was having trouble going in between the fence and the stock. Switched her to sheep today and we made some progress. Here I am setting her up to face the pressure then correcting when she backs away from it.

Rex had a great time at the Adair and Clarke County Fairs. He is owned by Filipe Byler but has been at my place for training and competition this last summer. He placed 18th out of 45 dogs in Clarke County Fair’s open class and 7th out of 15 dogs in the Clarke County Fair’s nursery. The following day he took 6th out of 44 dogs in Adair County Fair’s Open and 6th out of 15 dogs in Adair county Fair’s Nursery. He’s USBCHA nationals bound!
I am so excited to add Registered Dorpers to our crazy farm. These beautiful girls came home today (first three photos) and I can’t wait to see what they add to our already growing flock.
Salt is just over a year old, short haired male border collie looking for a new job. He’s been well exposed to sheep and has a good sense of balance and pace. He’s ready for someone to take him to the next level. His Dam is my Macie and Sire is my Ringo. Both parents have been health tested, work both sheep and cattle and work my farm as well as compete. Pm for more details. I just don’t have the time to give him that he deserves and he needs. Pedigree in comments.
Spending a little time down in Warner Oklahoma at the Rangeline Arena trial this weekend. The cattle started out really tough this morning for everyone. Macie and Ringo tried thier absolute best but the cattle ended up winning. Jax ran in the pro novice and had much better luck ending up second. Very proud of my dogs like always. They always give me thier all where ever we go. Jax below with his second place run. We’ll give them heck tomorrow.
