With the help of lost dogs of shawano County and get Toby home we were able to assist in bringing home this little fuzzy butt who had been missing since July 15. Happy you're home with your family coco!!!

hey everyone! I hope everyone is surviving quarantine! Extra reminder to please keep your pets tied up or on A leash when they are outside because finding lost dogs is going to get more difficult through this process. at this time I will be suspending my services as I am working 16 hour shifts in the healthcare field as well as spearheading a homemade face mask design for healthcare workers and running a collection site. however, if you need any assistance please reach out and I can get you in touch with the appropriate people that can help you at this time! As soon as the chaos of covid-19 slows down I will be back looking for your fuzzy butt runaways. If your dog is currently on my caseload I will continue to work on those cases as best as I am able and we'll reach out to other organizations for assistance if we come to a critical point to where we need additional assistance. When working a case, the biggest obstacle and hinderance in lost dog recovery is humans...

Lost dogs in survival mode view humans as a predator. This is the hardest thing for people to understand. Well intentioned people including people out there pursuing the dog in any manner...chasing, calling out to them, doing search parties, walking through woods (even quietly), approaching them, driving through the areas searching...you are scaring the dog and potentially pushing the dog out of the area and quite possibly in to harms way. Lost, frightened dogs will make bad decisions when they feel pursued and hunted by humans.

If you know that there is an active case going on, always contact the owner and ask if help or assistance is needed before you take it upon yourself to search, leave food, crates, etc. While this may be a kind hearted gesture, please understand such simple acts can dramatically hinder a recovery already in progress. Rescues can take time and outside interference only prolongs the capture and it's the dog that suffers.

DIESEL IS SAFE

1/9/20 - DIESEL OF CRANDON! HOME SAFE!

On Monday (1/6/20), Liz a new connection with Get Toby Home who was instrumental in getting both Arkira and Athena home safe to their families knew she had to do something to help fine Diesel and Finn in Crandon.

She drove to Crandon and started her search. She handed out flyers for all of them and talked to anyone and everyone she could and started tracking the sightings.

She saw Diesel that day and he was in terrible condition, however because he was in flight mode she could not get near him. She knew she had to save him soon or he would not last.

She spent 12-16 hours every day talking to everyone she could, tracking, setting traps, cameras and baiting to keep him coming back.

On Thursday (1/9/20) early afternoon she finished setting another trap, but little did she know it would not be a trap that saved him! Shortly after, she found him laying in the snow frozen to it. She did what she needed to do to get him free, scooped him up, ran to her truck with him and gone she was to get him emergency vet care.

Thank you to Liz for your extreme dedication to getting Diesel home safe. She is still working on locating Finn but is also working on another lost pup so we hope to share more news with you soon.
