Attention . Please understand. We will be enforcing our No Show/No Call & Less than 24 hour cancelation fee policy. Last year we lost a lot of revenue due to this. We try keep our prices fair and not raise them. Which means missed appointments affects our shop revenue. This policy has been in affect since February 1,2022 and we've been lenient until now. Thank you for understanding. 🐾🐾🐾

Copied from a friend:

The top 5 reasons why pet groomers are the toughest people I know:

1.) We hurt like hell but we keep going until we fall apart. That's how much we love our jobs. The majority of us stand alllllll day. 8 to 10 hours on our feet, hunched over a table or a bathtub. It's hard to wrestle a dog sitting down, so very few of us use chairs while grooming. Any groomer with experience has hands that hurt all the time and it's from the repetitive motion of the sc******ng, if you groom difficult dogs or big dogs your elbows also, go bad real quickly. We are prone to tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, hip dysplasia from standing crooked, all of us will end up with carpal tunnel someday, premature arthritis... I think you get the point. But looking at us with a smile on our face from how much we love our jobs as we greet you and your pet, it would be hard to tell that we have all these things going on.

2.) We will literally have a dog hand our own ass to us, beat the crap out of us, fight for everything because its owner did not get it groomed at a young enough age, or often enough, to make the dog comfortable with the process.... while getting bit and scratched, our hands already bleeding and irritated from the constant shampoo and water exposure, we do our very best on a very unwilling unruly participant only to have the pet owner make a crappy comment about how we charge too much for "playing with puppies all day"... and we have to resist the urge to go off on someone on a daily basis. Pet groomers must have a high resolve and vast amounts of self-control to put up with the things that we do not only from the animals but from their owners as well.

3.) We can't really call in sick. unless we want our co-workers to hate us for dealing with the Overflow and our clients to be upset we have to suck it up take some meds and go on with our life. which makes getting to a doctor difficult sometimes because you have to do it outside of working hours. And if someone does call off, some clients really aren't that understanding about why their dog is taking a little longer than usual so not only are we stuck late at work not getting paid overtime because we are commission-based, but we haven't eaten literally all day because we are trying to get all these dogs finished in a timely manner despite not having the manpower to do so. If we rush through the dog and get it done quickly like the owner demands it will probably look like garbage and the owner will be unhappy. If we take our time and do a great job on the haircut the owner is still upset that it took longer than usual, so either way we lose.

4.) In this profession I think The unruly dogs are way easier to handle than the unruly humans. I have had people swear and scream at me for shaving their matted dog, even when that was the most Humane option for it. we have people show up for their appointments 40 minutes late and expect us to still fit them in ( like really where else would pulling that stunt work for you? That trickles down to me running behind every on client that comes in after you) I have had people show up an hour and a half after closing time to collect their dogs without even an apology! And they get upset when I charge them extra! we are not hourly paid employees and we are not babysitters for your animal!

5.) We are master multi-taskers. There is so much more that goes into doing our jobs than just giving your dog a bath and a haircut. We have to be able to do hundreds of different kinds of haircuts on many different breeds of dogs, we must familiarize ourselves and understand canine behavior and psychology as well as their Anatomy and be familiar with identifying ear infections and skin problems, Etc. we have to know what to do in the event of an emergency and this includes pet first aid and CPR because sometimes accidents do happen and a good groomer is always prepared for the worst case scenario and does everything in their power to prevent it.
A lot of us have to keep up with cleaning the mess we make and walk in nail trims and making sure the towels get washed and folded and supplies keep stocked and phone calls get answered and appointments get pre-booked and customers get cashed out... on top of that there are coworkers struggling who need an extra hand on this naughty dog, there's a puppy screaming in a cage because he's terrified of life, you are running behind because one of yours was matted, that clean dog just pooped in the cage and played in it now it needs to be rewashed, you're so hungry your stomach hurts and you're getting a headache and you really need to p*e! This is our groomers every single day.

Dear customer, please stop saying that we charge too much, take too long, or that we play with puppies all day, it makes you look like the biggest ignoramus and everyday it's getting harder and harder to not punch someone in the face. I don't want to be on the news I love my job and I want to keep it that way.

What it is like being married to a groomer…. So accurate 😉 copied from a friend 😇 if you know who did write this I would love to credit them. It's long but it's so insanely accurate.

"My wife and I have been together for 10 years she has been a groomer since before we started dating. Over the years I have noticed how people treat and act like groomers have such an easy job. You know because they just “play with puppies all day.” I made a list of what I have noticed and apparently it’s pretty accurate.
-Groomers will never be home on time. “I get off at 5” means I will leave some time between 5:30-6 or later. You will get a text saying they are leaving and with their bag, in hand, a customer stops them at the door to “chat” with them. You get a follow-up text 20 mins later..leaving again.
-They will come home smelling like different perfume and cologne daily. One day it’s a mysterious male the next is lavender and lemongrass. You will find out certain ones you enjoy more than others. Then you find that some make you sneeze that ends up you guys trying to figure out which they used today that they can never use again!!
-They will get txt early in the morning and late at night. You will be asleep and their phones will go off multiple times waking you up….You know because groomers don’t have spouses who also have jobs and would like to sleep too.
-Clients will text them on Holidays knowing the salon is closed and they are off. It will start wishing them and their family a happy holiday then turn into can we set up an appointment? Or did you notice 3 weeks ago that my dog had a red bump on its ear? Then end with enjoying your day with your family after they have spent an hour of your family time texting with them.
-Random bruises and scratches. That you play a fun game of how did that happen or which dog did that. It’s always Bella!!
-They will come home in a bad mood and need time to decompress from the people of the day. Asking “how was your day?” Is a loaded question be ready for that answer.
Being the spouse you have to remember their mood is not directed at you it’s directed at these types of people….
-The customers who were late dropping off or late picking up made them late to come home. (Refer back to the leave on time part)
-People who start texting them as soon as they left work because apparently, a 9-5 work schedule doesn’t count for a groomer. Your groomer works at 5am when you start getting ready for your 9-5 job until 11pm when you have that last thought before bed apparently.
-People who complain about the price or don’t tip when they fought with your as***le dog that you can’t even brush at home.
-Customers who mention how last time blah blah blah but never brought it up until the groom. They are also the ones who complain about the price.
-Customers who lie to the groomers when they know for a fact, based on the dog's condition you are lying. They can’t call them out on it so they have to smile and nod.
-People who come back before they are called or expect the dog to be done in an hour. You know the pressure of having a sharp instrument on your dog I really hope they wiz through the groom super quick and sloppy so you can go to get drinks with Karen on time because you had a “hard day”. You still want the Tasmanian devil you own to look so cute while he flips and bites but it needs to be done in an hour.
-Customers who complain about a price increase. “I have been paying $50 to get fluffy groomed for 5 years I can’t believe you’re going to increase the price when everything else like gas has gone up too” Ummm yeah about that the cost of our products we use have also gone up and we all have to live in the price increased world too. Plus my wife likes nice things 😉
-Groomers never want to groom their own personal dogs!!! Their dogs look homeless while they take time to make your dogs look like a show dog
-ibuprofen is making a killing off groomers. Every part of their body has been pulled, hit and stretched by your dog. They wake up barely able to walk and then you bring your dog in with no control saying he/she is so excited. No Karen your dog is not trained. It’s great!!
-I have found one of my favourite things from being married to a groomer is playing find the hair splinter. You get to pull hair splinters out of their fingers, hands, arms and new fun ones are elbows.
-Almost every morning starts with “OMG look at all this hair in my snot.” It can be all different sizes and colours of fur. Or I really enjoy the sound of you hacking for 5 mins from dremel dust and pet dander that is settling in your lungs.
-A minimum of 3 times a week your dinner conversation consists of talking about a**l glands, worms or puss.
-There are sad days when they come home and tell you about the health of different dogs knowing the owner will not take them seriously and go to the vet because you know they are “just a groomer” After every groom, they tell you about the dog becoming sicker with no way to fix it. Then when the dog drops dead they have to be compassionate and caring to those people like it’s a surprise.
-It’s so much fun to go out in public with them because no matter where you go you will run into Bella or teddys owner. They will want to tell you how cute their last groom was like you didn’t know you do good work.
-Every dog/owner has a nickname. It could be a good or bad reason you have that name but it’s the way to tell the differences in the Bella’s and Teddy’s of the world.
When you see a dog out in public, you are told what is wrong with that dog's coat, what needs to be done to make it look cuter, and how they would groom it. You mention “Do you want to give them your card? Oh god no that dog is a mess “
-Everything is kept on a timed schedule. Their whole day at work is based on making sure they get done on time and following a schedule so they don’t get behind. Outside of grooming, it’s the same idea they can’t turn it off. If you don’t follow the schedule they have in their head it will throw off their whole day/night. This makes for a great time if you want to have a spontaneous day.
-As you grow older together you will have to be the one to open, pick up and grab/grip most things for them as their fingers no longer work
I love my groomer wife, and I wouldn’t change her for anything."

2nd UPDATE: the shelter was able to track the info on her microchip and they found her owner. She is now home safe and sound ❤️❤️ thank you everyone for helping. Big shout out to Melissa Sharp for updating me on this sweet girl

UPDATE: we held onto the baby as long as we could today. We did take her to the shelter on easterwood Dr. She did have a microchip but wasn't registered. She will be held on a 7 day stray hold.

If anyone recognizes this baby, please contact me (through Nails to Tails messenger or the shop number 850-765-4645). This baby was running through traffic on Mahan. We caught the baby & are holding onto the baby for now. Hope to find the owner ASAP

Unfortunately last Friday morning I tested positive for covid, and had to close the shop. As of today I'm still not feeling well. I have called/ texted clients to cancel appointments. Until I test negative, I will be closed. Once I am better I will return calls left on the business phone voicemail. Others who have my cell may text me (may not respond back right away). I will keep everyone updated on my progress as much as I can
