When I named my practice Journeys to Peace, it was because I knew the pets and people I would serve each had a journey ahead of them. The first is the journey to physical peace, where I am in my professional role as a veterinarian providing gentle and dignified care to a pet who needs to say goodbye. But this email I received, quoted above, speaks to the second journey: the journey our hearts take as we heal from loss, a very separate journey to peace. I was honored that my presence that day, the words in my sympathy card, and the keepsake I sent along were all an important part of this family's journey to peace.
