Congratulations Rainy!
Rainy and the puppies are doing great. Everyone is healthy and happy. We are so proud of her and can't wait to see these puppies grow and become great hunting companions, just like Rainy!

Rainy has a week to go. In the house she snugs up and wants her belly rubbed. But, if Wade and Sunny go out side, she has got to go out too. She is showing her gestational period from 57 - 63. She had more than one breeding so expected births could be 63 - 65 days. We have everything ready and are very excited.

It is 36 degrees above today! Rainy and Sunny enjoyed the warmer weather and "the hunt". I threw a couple of bumpers in the woods and they had a blast finding them. Rainy has been eating and drinking more than her normal. I do think she is pregnant, but it doesn't deter her a bit when hunting. Stay tuned...

Took the dogs down to central Minnesota for a quick pheasant hunt with a great friend. Didn't get alot of birds but had a great time.

We have been very busy hunting this fall. Goose hunting in Minnesota, duck hunting in North Dakota and pheasant hunting in both states along with grouse hunting in Ontario. Sunny and Rainy are doing great and love when the guns come out.

Grouse hunting in Ontario. We got the dock apart and situated for the winter, pulled out the water pump, cleaned up and decided to do a little grouse hunting. It was getting late, but we got 3 birds and were pretty happy. Then I realized I lost my phone. Next day we went on a phone rescue, but brought the shot guns just in case we should see a bird or two. Unbelievably, Wade found my phone. In the process we both got our limit of grouse. Rainy and Sunny were happy.

Hunting in North Dakota, the good, the bad and the ugly. The good was finding private land to hunt on - thank you!. The bad was trying to wear too many hats: hunter; dog trainer; and photographer which ended up in chaos. The ugly was trying to access waterfowl production areas, Ducks unlimited areas that had no access - super frustrating.
The best of course, was watching our Pudelpointers work, search and retrieve the goose or the duck. Totally amazing and worth the getting up early, carrying decoys, setting up etc. The result was happy tired dogs, a man ready to get back out there and a women trying to figure out how to deal with "the bad".

We always put 50 pounds of potatoes in a 2 pound sack. From early goose hunting to fishing, horse riding and grouse hunting in Ontario until the opening of waterfowl in Minnesota. Dogs love the challenge of fetching whatever we throw in the water. But hunting trumps it all!

We hunted/dog trained during early goose and had blast. Getting up at 3:45 a.m. would never happen if it weren't for the opportunity to watch our dogs in action. Rainy seemed scared of the goose calls and I was feeling bad for her. She snuck out of her little hut and into mine. I tried to comfort her each time we were out. The last day of early goose I had her heal to my side as we went to pick up a shot goose. It wasn't dead...and oh did my girl change her attitude. As the goose flew above her head, she chased it a 100 yards. I didn't have my camera on me but was running as fast as I could chasing Rainy as I didn't want her to get beat up by the goose. On the contrary, she got it on the ground and sooooo proudly brought it to my hand. What a fantastic scene! Below Sunny is bring one home.

So much fun to be goose hunting with my husband and our Pudelpointers. Rainy is just 2 and those geese are big. She started off pretty scared, but day 2 we saw a little more confidence and less shaking. Sunny is doing great, steady to the shots and retrieving to hand.

Sunny is an amazing hunter, nurse, friend, companion, teacher and model. His talents are so diverse as you can see in the attached pictures. We had planned for Sunny to be our stud dog as he earned a Prize I in the UT and because of all his attributes, including his great fur and looks. Unfortunately, Sunny has had a few episodes of seizure like activity that only last for 3 - 4 minutes . He hasn't had very many, however after taking him to the University of MN and 2 other vets and consulting with yet another vet, we decided to neuter him. This was a decision that broke our hearts especially as no one could say what he had was genetic. We however want to make sure that our kennel produces only the best and we didn't want anyone else or another dog to experience these short little episodes. With all that being said, Sunny is doing great and is ready to hunt, pose or do any of the frequent tasks that he is asked to do.
We will be breeding Rainy in December....stay tuned.

Fishing on Rainy Lake, God's country. Sunny would love to have his own fishing rod - he is soooo into it. It's a small world as we met people from the Pudelpointer community (they were from the cities) while fishing. They recognized the breed and told us they also had a Pudelpointer.
