With my heart brimming over with gratitude — AND with a very complex mix of grief and relief — I am sad to announce that, as of today, Peace Wings will no longer be serving new clients or patients.

For all those we have already helped - it has been an honor to do the soul work of loving you through your tough times.

Any current hospice clients or previous clients are welcome to continue reaching out, but I apologize that I can no longer be available for new folks.

With all the love in the world,
H

So delighted today to be invited by the Grey Muzzle Organization to give a Webinar (free to the public!) entitled: Celebration, the Antidote to Anticipatory Grief.

Check out the recording on YouTube here:

And don't forget to also peep in on all the good work the folks at the The Grey Muzzle Organization are doing -- as the largest national non-profit organization focused specifically on the well-being of senior dogs! They happen to be celebrating an enormous milestone this month! ;)

Peace Wings is in the NEWS! Huge thanks to Jane Reuter of Colorado Community Media, for taking an interest in this story, and writing it so beautifully. And, endless heartfelt gratitude to Jacques and Max, for sharing all FOUR of their beautiful doggos with me -- for trusting me to care for Oliver and Alex, and then inviting me over to hug on their two new puppies, Django and Finn!

Much love all around!

When Jacques Hennig’s Australian Shepherd mix Alex collapsed at an Aurora park in January 2024, he knew it was time to say goodbye. “It’s a feeling in your gut; I knew immediately the cancer had come back,” he said. He also knew how Alex would die: at home, with Hennig and his partner Max Do...

Peace Wings is proud to partner with the Human Animal Bond Trust (HABT). For over 30 years, the HABT has made Denver's Pet Loss Support Group free to the public. Staffed by licensed therapists, this important resource has long recognized the depth of the love we feel for our pets, honored the bond we share with them, and supported the grieving and healing process for countless members of our community after the loss of their pet.
As funding has waned over the years, it has become difficult to continue to pay the therapists that staff the support group -- some of whom have been serving our community since the inception of the Pet Loss Support Group.
Every time we help a pet say good-bye, we donate to HABT in his or her name. Every few months, we will continue to bring forward the names of the beloved pets in whose memory we donate.
In January, February, and March of 2024, we said goodbye to these beloved souls:

Tasha | Wallace | Ziggy | Noelle | Bunny | Lola | Ruby | Griffey | Kaituna | Alex | Bruce | Jasmine | Clover | Sam | Frankie | Bailey | Sam | Katie | Skype | Mayla | Chino | Sid | Roy | Sergio | Jack | Bubble | Haze | Puko | Mimo | Spokane |

May their memory be a blessing, always, and may the legacy of their love live on in the work of the Human Animal Bond Trust.
With love,
H, Coral, and Mina

Meet our Peacewings team:

Surrounded by all manner of household pets, livestock, and wildlife from a young age, Mythina grew up with an enduring love for the individual personalities inherent to animal life. His passion for helping our beloved companions painlessly transition from life stemmed from an adoration of elderly critters in particular and a long-standing belief in the ideal of a 'good death' attended by loved ones in a familiar place.
He attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
Currently, he works for Peacewings as a point of contact and administrative force to help keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes. You might never meet him, but he’s there nevertheless.

Meet our team: H. Howells, DVM— our doctor on staff and founder of Peace Wings!

H. Howells, DVM, followed a winding path before becoming a veterinarian and coach. Prior to veterinary school, she had careers in teaching, music, and food service. She has also taste-tested a few other, unrelated jobs. After a decade in general clinical practice where she experienced burn-out and exhaustion firsthand, H. became deeply invested in fostering wellbeing for veterinary professionals. In 2018 she launched Agents of Change Coaching, where she does health, life, and team coaching with a whole-person approach. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, she opened Peace Wings -- her veterinary house-call hospice and euthanasia practice. These days, H. continues to build both practices while remaining active in Colorado's veterinary community. She is also a mom, an outdoors enthusiast, and an amateur cook who enjoys sharing food and wine with others. She is making more music and feeling more alive as she grows closer to living with balance.

Meet our Peacewings team!

Coral is our Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) and often communicates with anyone who reaches out to us for help.

Coral grew up on a rural property with numerous pets and a wide array of wildlife, which sparked her passion for animals. She identified as a caretaker at a very young age and earned her veterinary technician credential after completing her training at Bel Rea Institute in 2014. She has nearly a decade of experience as a licensed veterinary technician and was the ideal choice to help found and build Peace Wings into growing our heart-forward philosophy.

Alongside helping families say their final goodbyes, she is essential in treating, medicating, and caring for our hospice patients in the comfort of their homes. In addition to bringing deep empathy to her work, Coral is also a creative force who is committed to helping families find meaning and beauty in the care of their pets' remains after death. She’s hoping to grow Peace Wings’ body care offerings to provide new and creative ways for families to remember and memorialize their passed loved ones.
