Pupdate! Max is getting into the swing of things. Got some time with his sister, lots of cuddles & lots of training. Things I’ve learned about Max so far: he’s a lazy boy, he plays fetch with himself, he doesn’t mind his crate at all, he likes to lose stuff under the couch on purpose for you to get it (his favorite game), he loves belly scratches & is a scaredy-cat. Also his bark sounds like a little old man. 😂 So very proud of him 🥰

Max’s first night went so well, we are proud of him. We were not expecting him to warm up to us so quickly. Got a long walk, investigated his new surroundings, relaxed on the couch & had a short introduction to his new sister & he’s so excited about her! He loves his new toy & got introduced to his first crate with no issues. 💕

We were contacted a few weeks back by a woman who was considering surrendering her 7 month old bull terrier named Max. During the conversation and in subsequent talks since, it became obvious that she loved her bully but was in over her head. Her and her family had always wanted a bull terrier but didn’t have any experience with the breed. They were overwhelmed with Max’s behaviors, which are normal young bull terrier behaviors. They tried to employ a trainer and soon realized that Max should be with someone who could put the time and effort in to help him be the best bully he can be. This is not a situation that is specific to them, we have had many similar cases. Doing research on a breed versus having real life experience are two very different things when talking about bull terriers. It is very clear that this family loves Max but are just not equipped to raise him the way he needs to be. By signing him over to the rescue, they selflessly let him go somewhere else so that he can learn the things he needs to and be socialized the way he needs to so that he can have a great life. When we started to look for the right home for Max, we had several people express interest. One particular family stood out. This family has a great focus on training and physical and mental stimulation for their current bull terrier and will do the same with Max, which is exactly what he needs. Yesterday, Max met and went home with his foster to adopt mom and dad, Rachel and Chris. He will also have a bully sister named Kira. We are hopeful that Kira and Max will be great companions for each other.
