Another donation check delivered. This one was a little emotional with the switch out of Bella but with the help of my amazing family and friends I have many other dogs to help me out like Gauge.

L♥️VE was in the air this week at GFD when Amber and her pup friend, Gauge, from Hound of my heart stopped by to deliver a donation check to our 501(c)(3), Gibraltar Fire - Rescue Association, Inc. Since 2018, Hound Of My Heart has generously donated over $47,000 to organizations that benefit police, fire, EMS, and humane societies!

We thank you for your continued support!

Gidget is jumping on to say how happy she is now that she got her cut and can see again. She’s such a fun girl. She’s one dog that will just sit on my table and not fight me but she doesn’t always want to do what I want her to while she’s getting her clip.

Gigi is jumping on to say how isn’t always happy to get her nails trimmed but she deals with it and is happy after cause she gets her treat and she knows it.

This is another situation that has recently come to light.
We are sad to see the Green Bay location closing, and are hopeful we can find some other options, especially for the times we take vacations.
While we have used both Blue Pearl locations as emergency clinics when our office is closed, please remember that we do see our clients on emergency basis.

Skunk Alert!!!
A public service announcement from animal control:
February Through early March is skunk breeding season. Before you let your dogs out, make a little noise and give skunks time to move out of your yard.

If you come face to face with a skunk, stay calm and talk softly to let him know you’re there -- skunks have poor eyesight. Skunks are very sweet natured animals and don’t want to spray you. Go about your business and avoid startling them.
Skunks will give you several warnings if they are scared:
1. They will stomp their front feet
2. They turn their backs to you
3. They will do a handstand
4. They will spray up to 10 feet away

If a skunk DOES spray, here is a technique and recipe:
First, catch the dog (or the person!) as quickly as possible - don’t let them roll or rub on anything. If you have rubber gloves wear them. BLOT the spray off with paper towels.
Mix a paste from 1 teaspoon Dawn dish soap, 3% hydrogen peroxide and ¼ cup baking soda and spread it on the area. Do not add water! Let it sit for ten minutes then rinse off and repeat.
If this happens to be on a human or hairless animal, leave out the baking soda. The baking soda is sort of like an exfoliant and is really abrasive to bare skin.
Skunks are omnivores (eat both plant and animal material). They prefer to eat insects, particularly grasshoppers, beetles, and crickets. They also eat grubs and other insect larvae as well as bees and wasps. When the opportunity arises, they will take mice, rats, moles, shrews, young ground squirrels and rabbits, nesting birds, nestlings, and bird or snake eggs. Skunks also eat corn, berries, and other vegetation. In an urban environment, they may eat garbage or pet food that has been left outside.

Habitat Modification:
Secure garbage cans and close dumpster lids at night.
Control rodent populations.
Do not leave pet food outdoors at night.
Remove brush or wood piles.
Control lawn grubs.

Hey everyone
Just saw this notice, from another clinic.
This is the microchip company we’ve been using for the past several years.
Unfortunately, this means we are going to have to re-register all the chips. You can do this yourself by following the steps below, but rest assured, we will be looking into this a bit more next week.

Buttercup is jumping on to say that even though she wasn’t happy with her groom she was very excited to see me. She has been getting better every groom.

Ellie is jumping on to say how much she enjoyed it when I stopped to visit with her. She had to say a few things when I first stopped by just to make sure I wasn’t going to hurt her but once she heard her name is was excited and the moment she got her leash on that’s was the ticket. She’s such a sweet little girl. I love her little walk when we would go out for bathroom breaks.

Molly is jumping on to say that she deals with her nail trims as she always gets such good treats while getting her nails cut. She’s such a sweet girl and lets me cut her nails almost anyway I want and she just deals with it.

Cooper is jumping on to say how nails trims aren’t his favorite thing but he really does love it when I stop over. He’s such a sweet big boy. Oh and treats makes nail trims better or at least that’s what we say.

Nya is jumping on to say how excited she is to see me until I give her a clip. But that excitement is just as big after her clip. She’s such a silly sweet girl.

Sky is jumping on to say how excited she is to see me even if nail trims aren’t her favorite thing. She loves me no matter what. Her sibling cats also really don’t like nail trims either.
