There is no exact reason why this happens, and many potential adopters may overlook these dogs subconsciously. Other colored dogs stand out more in dimly lit kennels and photograph better than black dogs, making it more difficult to capture their personality. Many people also perceive black dogs as more aggressive, and pop culture has depicted this many times. The general public is largely unaware of this issue and many don’t realize that these dogs are being overlooked! Spreading awareness means that MORE people will be LESS likely to ignore black dogs! A flirt pole is a great way to exercise and tire out your pup indoors. Kali gets so excited when she sees it and is super mellow after playing 😴 It’s one of our favorite options when the weather isn’t so great.
It’s also easy to make one of these right at home! All you need is some sort of stick or pole, rope and a lightweight, fluffy object that your pup will like! Ours is from Chewy.com🎣
