This little girl is still looking for the perfect home! She is really special! When she was born she was about half the size of the others, which made us think she may not make it! But she did and she is the sweetest thing ever! We have been calling her”Flea” but you can name her whatever you want! She is looking for her perfect home where she can celebrate Thanksgiving with you!

Some unique things about her…. she has a tail! She also is really outgoing and loves people! She’s the most social of the whole litter and white her petite size she’s just perfect!

This is a good illustration of puppy socialization needs, shared from Good as Gold Training, but I would also add that all of the listed exposure and experience needs to feel *safe* for the puppy. If s/he is nervous, tentative, or fearful the fear should be handled by backing off a little and reintroducing very slowly and with lots of praise, food and patience. Sometimes, for the sake of "socialization", owners push their puppies too far and too fast, and it can backfire. Good socialization requires that we "read" our puppies and help them feel safe as they navigate the sounds, textures, people and animals in their new world.

I received some news today that no breeder ever wants to hear. “Buck” crossed the rainbow bridge today because someone was driving too fast and hit him.

Buck was the first puppy I ever delivered and was in Serena’s first litter. I am heart broken for his family and I know he will never be forgotten.
