This is how it feels when I figure out how to fly with a dog rather than driving it cross country.😆

What do you do when flight delays turn your 3 1/2 hour trip into a 13 hour trip? Just find a corner for some puppy stretch time.

Return flight in cabin space availability from San Jose CA to Spokane or Seattle WA this week.

Nice job American Airlines! I am coming back from the BTCA National with my dog in cabin with me, and all of my supplies in her crate as checked luggage. Despite the fact I put stickers on all four sides of thr crate that say "No Dog Inside", it was still the last to be loaded and the first item to come off the plane. And it was loaded onto my next flight within 6 minutes. You've got to love those strong habits of following safety policies for pets, even when there's no pet inside. 😁

Unfortunate news for clients who sell puppies into the U.S.. I see many negative effects on good responsible breeders in other countries. This was put in place due to imports of dogs from questionable sources, falsified rabies and health documents, resulting in the appearance of new canine viruses and a reappearance of rabies in the United States. In 2020 the requirement for rabies and health certs was dropped for the US if the dog came from a low risk country. This probably wasn't the best idea. Now we are taking two steps backwards.
Sadly this will cut off access to new lines in many rare breeds as most breeders can't keep their puppies that long. Crucial training time and bonding with the new owner is lost.
And breeds such as the French Bulldog who often exceed in-cabin size by 6 months, and who can't fly cargo, simply won't be imported anymore from overseas.
As a breeder myself, I see a few advantages for breeders of breeds that are over populated, but in my opinion, the negatives outweigh the positives. I wish I had better news for my clients. If I find out any more information, I'll update you.
Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.
Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.
Use CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq

Safe Puppy Transport
This is a more detailed description of how we safely transport puppies who are not fully vaccinated yet. Feel free to share.

Gable and I have been upgraded to First Class. This little Havanese is headed to Florida after first becoming a US Citizen. He left Victoria BC just this morning and is on his way to his forever home.
Trix and Yoshi are not happy that they're not given access to the big fenced dog run.
This is "Paws Off The Ground". Two layers on top of cement. This reduces the risk of coming into contact with diseases such as parvo before a puppy has had a full round of puppy shots.
Trix joins her new owner today in Kentucky, Yoshi meets his in Pennsylvania.
Poor Garnet. She meets a new guy and he runs off to the restroom, leaving her to dance by herself.
Me, standing back looking at my van all packed and ready to go on a coast to coast trip four days early.
I just witnessed a turf war in Amsterdam. This layover has started out with some excitement.

About Us
GROUND TRANSPORT: With the ever increasing restrictions on traveling with our pets, there is a need for SAFE and KNOWLEDGEABLE ground transport. Not only do you need a good driver that will get them from point A to point B, you need an experienced animal lover.
We are USDA licensed transporters and handle travel for all breeds, however we specialize in safely delivering brachy breeds through all types of weather. Our van is small enough that temperature is easily controlled throughout, ensuring a comfortable ride.
We stop every four hours for walks and bathroom breaks. Water is available at all times, feeding is twice per day unless otherwise instructed. We use comfortable crate pads and or blankets - no shavings or shredded newspaper. It’s a long trip, your dog should be comfortable!
We are very particular about the spread of germs between dogs so we do NOT reuse crate pads, blankets or beds during a trip. Puppies are kept “paws off the ground” and are pottied on p*e pads in an x-pen with two layers between your puppy and the ground. Crates are disinfected between uses and again after every trip and we sanitize our hands in between handling each dog. If we stop at a hotel, the dogs stay in the room with us, otherwise we eat and sleep in the van, keeping a watchful eye on your pets.
Owners are given updates along the way so they know when to expect their pet and how they are doing on their trip. With today’s technology, there’s no need to wonder how it’s going when we can easily show you how it’s going.
To ensure the safety of all on board, our policies are as follows:
We do NOT accept any dogs that are Human Aggressive or Dog Aggressive
We do NOT accept puppies under the age of 10 weeks or before 2 sets of vaccinations
All dogs must be up to date on their (age appropriate) shots and current on their rabies vaccination (for over 6 months of age).
A current health certificate is required for traveling over state lines
Sedated pets are not accepted.
Natural calming remedies may be purchased and sent along with instructions from the owners
We respect our client’s privacy. Photos of trips with client dogs visible are only published with the owner’s permission.
AIR TRANSPORT: We offer in-cabin transport service for pets under 20 lbs. Bookings within the US and Canada are currently being accepted, international transport is currently not available yet but some requests will be considered. Each dog or puppy is transported in a new sherpa bag in order to prevent the spread of potential viruses and germs. The bag goes with your dog upon delivery with no extra charge.
Our policies for in cabin transport:
Any required vet paperwork is the responsibility of the shipper
Dogs must be under 20 lbs and fit comfortably in a soft sided pet carrier. Please acclimate your pet to a confined space prior to drop off.
Puppies may be shipped two to a carrier provided they are under 6 months of age and small enough to comfortably both fit in a carrier.
Pets should be up to date on their age appropriate vaccinations
Sedated pets are not accepted.
Natural calming remedies may be purchased and sent along with instructions from the owners
