They are a tad timid, but once you show them how much you love them and give them treats, they just want to play away!

The shelter is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12-5:30.

We had to do a shout out to our team member Jill. She was hired by Tracy Animal Services in December of 2021. Jill brought a kind smile and easy going nature to the team and has helped our community in the Administrative position providing customer service and team support.

Jill now is off on a new adventure to the Engineering Department here at the City of Tracy and we wish her luck on her new endeavors!

The Engineering Department is bringing on an amazing new teammate! We will miss you Jill, but we will make sure to stop by with furry friends to remind you of your roots! 😆

Please give Jill your well wishes as we send her on her way to start her new journey!

New Year’s Eve Tips from Fancy!

Our new arrival Fancy is excited to help you keep your pets safe and comfortable this New Year’s Eve. Check out these simple tips to ensure your furry friends enjoy the night as much as you do:

1. Wear Them Out During the Day
Take your pet for a long walk or play session so they can sleep through the fireworks at night.
2. Microchip Your Pet
Pets can get spooked by the loud noises and run off. Ensure your pet is microchipped in case they get lost.
3. Ask for Pet Advice
Some pets may need medication to stay calm during the festivities. Contact your vet to discuss options that may help.
4. Keep Them Away from the Party

Create a quiet, safe space for your pet away from the noise of the party. Let them rest in peace and comfort.

REMINDER: The shelter will be closing at 4:00pm today and will be closed all day tomorrow Wednesday, January 1st.

We wish you and your beloved pets a safe, joyful, and peaceful New Year’s celebration!

What a GREAT day and end of year it has been. We have gotten some of our long stays ADOPTED!

This handsome guy was at our shelter for almost a FULL YEAR!

We like to say, only the dogs that NEED to be in the shelter, should be the ones that come to us. Bugs was definitely one of those. He came in very reserved and fearful.

Due to the extensive amount of help he needed, we were lucky to have one of our rescue partners tracydoggirlsrescueinc work with him in his socializing and basic handling. Between staff, volunteers, and the rescue help, we were able to bring this boy’s awesome personality out!

Now, after all that hard work, he now has a family! It truly takes a village and we couldn’t be more proud of the one we have!

Yay Bugs!!!

FELINE FRIDAY!

We have some amazing black kitties! We want to make sure they aren’t over looked when finding a new family member!

So let’s shine a light on the fascinating world of black cats! 🖤

Did you know that black cats have been steeped in superstition and magic for centuries? In ancient Egypt, they were revered as sacred animals, believed to bring protection and good fortune, especially in the presence of the goddess Bastet.

However, the narrative took a dark turn during the Middle Ages when black cats became associated with witchcraft. The Catholic Church labeled them as “familiars” of witches, leading to widespread fear and persecution. Tragically, during the Black Plague, many people blamed black cats for the spread of disease, further stigmatizing them.

This fear carried over to America, viewing black cats as symbols of evil. The infamous belief that a black cat crossing your path brings bad luck emerged from these deep-rooted fears, suggesting witches could use them as spies.

Today, black cats continue to face challenges in shelters, often overlooked for adoption and facing higher euthanasia rates than their colorful counterparts.

It’s time to celebrate these enchanting companions! If you’re thinking of welcoming a furry friend into your home, consider giving a black cat the loving family they deserve. 🖤🐱

Transformation Tuesday!

Meet Sanders! He was brought in with a severe eye infection and skin irritation (as pictured in the first image). Once we began treatment, he already started to show signs that he was feeling better.

We were SO happy to glam him up for the Parade of Lights and ultimately look how amazing he looks after some TLC!

Yesterday this handsome sweetheart made the trek to muttvillesf and is now in their care for adoption!

This is just one of the situations that continues to give staff passion to make a difference in the animal welfare world!
