Hand injuries are really scary when you are committed to milking a half-dozen (more soon!) goats twice a day, every day, for the rest of your life. On Thursday a goat took off on me, and I grabbed the collar wrong. It pulled my pinky & ring finger backward, and I heard a pop in my wrist as pain shot straight up to my elbow. Had to finish what I was doing, but about an hour later when I went inside for a short break I realized my hand was sore and a bit swollen.
By Friday morning I was in full-blown pain. HUGE SHOUTOUT to the lovely ladies at Keystone Chiropractic for squeezing me in & giving me instant relief. Dr Katie worked her magic and put my fingers, wrist, elbow, and shoulder back into place so I could safely continue (carefully) my twice daily milking without causing more damage. Usually it’s Dr Hedgepeth getting me out of a pickle, so I am so thankful to both of them and to their office staff (Heather & Jeanine) for always being receptive to my unique needs as a farmer. I hope I at least provide a little entertainment when I call in… like the time I got hit by a ram while pregnant 🤦♀️ It’s always something. Thankful for Keystone Chiropractic always having my back!
PS *sound on* I remember when milking my goats was so relaxing… but then I made the decision to bottle feed all the babies this year. Kind of regretting it 🤣 but some lessons need to be learned the hard way.
Good morning from Old Glory Farm near Wendell NC 💚 This weekend we have Black Star female chicks (~300 brown eggs a year). Come grab a box full of peeping chicks, and get a chance to check out these sweet baby goats 🥰 We are open by appointment only, so please PM or text Emily 919-271-7285.
Fatty Mayonnaise 360* View. We did final weigh-ins for the does due this coming week and Fatty weighed in at 133.2. Considering the breed average is 75 pounds, this girl is a hoss. We’ll see how many kids are in there soon enough - she is due Sunday, but could go anytime between then and the 29th. Average gestation is 145-155 days, but most of our girls kid right at the 145 day mark.
Please pray for us & our beautiful ladies. We hope for easy, uneventful deliveries of lots of healthy babies, and speedy recoveries! 💜 This is likely my last update until we have kids on the ground!

HOW MANY BABIES ARE IN HER BELLY? Everyone keeps asking for an update on our girl Fatty Mayonnaise. Well, here ya go! She's still huge.
(also, have you ever seen a goat poop? JACKPOT! 🫣😂)
Fatty is due with her 4th set of kids on March 19. As with babies of all kinds, that date is approximate. Any guesses on how many she will have? I’m thinking 4.
Yesterday I did pregnancy clips for all the girls due to kid in the next few weeks. That means I trimmed their udder and their backside to keep things a little cleaner during kidding and also for when I start milking. We also did our monthly hoof trims and weighed everyone.
Guess who was the heaviest 😂 That’s right!
Wilders Fatty Mayonnaise weighed in at 127.7 pounds. She has gained 32.7 pounds since breeding.
Next heaviest is One Fine Acre Putn on the Ritz at 109.9 pounds. Ritzy has gained 23.1 pounds. She is due March 20.
Our biggest increase was CrookedCedar Farm RY Cheddar who went from 65 pounds before breeding to a whopping 100.3 pounds! That’s an increase of 35.3 pounds. She is first up with a due date of March 18.
All 3 were bred to our incredibly handsome, incredibly well bred herdsire CrookedCedar T Tangelo, who is gold, polled, and moonspotted. Hubba Hubba!
All-in-all, we currently have 12 bred does and a few more that will be bred soon for late Summer/Fall kidding. We have a list going for this year’s kids plus a few does in milk or bred does we intend to rehome throughout the year. PM me for details :)

Old Glory Farm is located near Wendell North Carolina. Our goal is producing our own food, especially meat, dairy, & eggs. We offer small livestock for the backyard homesteader throughout the year: chicks, ducklings, quail chicks, guinea keets, bunnies, piglets and baby goats 👩🏻🌾
FATTY UPDATE: Fatty Mayonnaise is still as big as a house. 3.5 weeks until she delivers. How many do you think she has? 🐐
I’m guessing 4-5, healthy doelings preferred 🥰
