The first three things we check off in any lesson before moving on are:
✅ is your horse straight
✅ are they staying at the speed you set them at
✅ are they staying on the track you set them on
Once we can answer yes to all of these, we move on to other exercises. 🐴
Beanie and Ava
In our lessons we focus on relaxation in our horses which helps keep our horses focused and keep the students safe. Here Beanie is showing us a great example of releasing tension and relaxing. I teach my students to reward this behavior with positive reinforcement whenever they see it.
Shorty couldn’t care less about carrying a flag! He is really such a cool horse and I am grateful to be able to work with him and use him for drill team this summer 🤩🤩
Sometimes the most boring videos of horse training are the best‼️
I would much rather see this horse standing here on a loose line, relaxed & calm than anything else. He is still standing with some tension and worry so we are far from perfect but he isn’t trying to leave or spooking. This gelding gets worried easily so we are working on learning to relax in settings that would normally cause pretty extreme worry for him (cross ties). This is day 1 so I don’t even have him hooked to the ties yet. I want him to learn to come in to the cross tie area and fall asleep 😴😌
Round and round the ponies go 😅

Back to teaching this week. Feels good but there is still a hole in my heart. I know this is where I’m supposed to be and will keep pushing forward.

Back to working horses after some time off. Shorty picked up right where he left off ❤️ lateral work has really helped this horse. I always do in on the ground in the bridle first before getting on and it has really helped progress his training 🥰
Teaching Beanie to lay down on command part 1

Good morning from the horses & deer 💕
My herd was larger than normal this morning 🧐🦌
Breslyn and Dapper are the new dream team 😍
So proud of Breslyn for working so hard and Dapper for being such a good boy getting back into lessons after having some time off.
Today I started work with teaching Beanie to step into a target and stay standing on it until asked to move.
She can be impatient when standing tied, so I thought turning standing still on a target into a trick might make it more tolerable for her 😅❤️
First day of camp was so fun!!! All of the campers had an absolute blast. 🤠
The field is mowed and looking just GORGEOUS 😍
Summer is coming 🥰
What's your favorite thing to do with your horse over the summer?
