"Amanda is a total rockstar at our clinic and took the reins in mentoring me as a new grad in 2021, all while being the only Tech in the building. She taught me new skills every day and instilled a love for cats in me. I owe my entire career to her. In 2022, she volunteered to be the mentor for another new hire in the clinic and raised them to be a confident and practical Tech. I tell Amanda all the time she is the glue holding our clinic together and I hope one day to be half as good of a Tech she is."

Creating this message has been an educational and somber reminder of the thousands of people who contribute and sacrifice so we can enjoy freedom during time of war and peace.

This year Veterans Week is November 5-11, 2023. Every year on November 11, Canadians, and others in Commonwealth countries pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.

November 11th marks the signing of the armistice (peace agreement) between the Allies and Germany at Compiegne, France.

The armistice took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning - the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month."

Although the intention is to remember the fallen in the Great War, must also recognize that many new comers to Canada have similar experiences that impact them, their families and their countries of origin.

Our words cannot express or explain enough gratitude for the contributions, achievements, and sacrifices to our veterans.

Although this one week and one day are most notable, we are encouraged to remember year-round those who have – and continue to – sacrifice in an effort to create and maintain international peacekeeping.

Meet Bob: A 9hh (36inch) miniature therapy pony who, along with his owner Crystal Ferguson, is changing lives in northern Alberta.

Crystal Ferguson, RVT at Mosaic’s Peace River Veterinary Services, welcomed Bob to her family in spring of 2016 when he was only 4 years old. After originally purchasing Bob for her daughters, it didn’t take long for visit requests to start pouring in from the community.

His role as therapy animal all started with a simple suggestion from Crystal’s friend, Shelbie, who happened to have a therapy dog herself.

“One day at Sutherland Place when Shelbie was there, hospital staff mentioned it would be good to have another species of animal [visit Sutherland], and Shelbie thought of Bob right away,” said Crystal. “So then the staff coordinator approached me, and had me bring Bob to meet them at the hospital.” After a number of tests to ensure he was well-mannered, not too spooky around wheelchairs, and could ride up and down elevators, Bob became officially certified as a therapy pony. Like all other volunteers, Bob happens to wear his very own volunteer lanyard and also sports trendy non-slip footwear for his visits. “His footwear is dog footwear—extra large MUTTluks that velcro around his ankles,” Crystal says. 🥾

Crystal and Bob regularly visit over 8 seniors and health facilities in Peace River, AB and surrounding communities, and have also paid countless visits to local companies, schools, and community centres to put smiles on as many faces as possible.

Thank you, Crystal and Bob for all that you are doing to change the lives of so many people. From helping seniors with their fine motor skills to giving people reason to get out of bed, you and Bob are truly a gift to northern Alberta. ❤️

Today, we are thrilled to announce that Southwest Animal Health Centre (SWAHC) and Associate Pet Hospital (APH) in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, will be joining the Mosaic Veterinary Partners team!

With the addition of these two clinics, we are welcoming a well-respected large animal practice  as  well  as  a  modern  small  animal  practice  serving  Swift  Current  and  the  greater  surrounding  rural  community. Drs.  Glen and Christy Griffin and Dr.  Sarah  Allin  purchased  the  clinic in 2013 and have continued to grow and foster  high  quality  care  for  the  range  of  species  that they serve.   

Like  Mosaic,  SWAHC  and  APH have  a  deep  understanding  for  mixed  animal  practice and believe in the importance of deep-rooted community connections, putting people first, and  fully  engaging  in  the  help  and  care  of  the  animals  they  serve.  Together as a larger team, we will be able to provide management support, additional career opportunities, as well as mentorship from our network of clinical teams across Western Canada.

‘Tis the season of giving! We are feeling especially grateful to have Dr. Mike Jelinski on our team who dedicates his (and his family’s!) time each month to vaccinate cats at Tails to Tell Animal Rescue].

Yes! Oops…It looks like we may have revealed Dr. Jelinski’s secret love of cats 🐈 🐈‍⬛

Over the last two and a half days, our incredible Clinic Managers from all seven of our practices joined the Mosaic Support Team in Crossfield, AB for our second Managers Summit of 2022!

What an incredible time our team had! From decorating gingerbread ornaments to speaking with Bill Turpin on the subject of positivity, every moment spent together at this winter summit was incredible. To say that we are lucky to work with these amazing Clinic Managers is truly an understatement.

Tanya, Bianca, Bobby-Jo, Leslie, Megan, Crystal, Michelle and Danielle, you are the backbone of the company and we would be lost without you!
