Today we honour the children who never came home from residential schools and the Survivors who continue to live with their legacy, along with their families and communities.
Between 1831 and 1998, 140 federally run residential schools operated in Canada—the last closing just 25 years ago. This history is recent, and it calls on all of us to listen, learn, and reflect on the experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
We invite you to wear orange on September 30 to remember and to stand in solidarity.
