I usually don’t work my pet dog clients on my mill. I try and mimic activities the owners will do with their dogs once back home. This helps set the dog up knowing what to expect opposed to learning to satisfy in a way that they’ll never get again. I know not all dog trainers follow
that logic and that’s okay too.
This however, is a confidence building exercise for Tino due to his fear and anxiety behavioral issues. This was a lot of work for Tino to push through and he did great. He’s still not taking food when put into stressful situations, so food reward wasn’t an option here. We’re building though! 👊🏻
Good session with Tino this morning. He’s starting to understand the picture. It’s time to start getting him out into the world now and put into practice away from my home. I have no doubt he’ll most likely shut down again once removed from his new comfort zone, so we need to show him that everywhere is his comfort zone through me.

Still a long way to go, but today was a great day.
Lots of structured walks to help focus Tino’s mind and get him out of 24/7 anxiety mode.
Tino dealing with life. This isn’t out of the norm behavior for him. This is typical behavior for him. This is his normal day to day state of mind.
Tino is hyper aware of his environment and super stressed. It takes a lot for him to just relax and be a dog. Tethering decompression exercises keep him from pacing constantly and helps him to calm down. This was a 45 minute process just for him to finally relax.
Here is some of Tino who has come for a board and train. Tino deals with massive amounts of fear that’s manifested into reactivity and slight aggression.
I usually don’t get before video just because I’m always concentrating on the dog and not thinking about grabbing that click bait video. However, with Tino I needed his owners to load him up for me, so I was able to grab a little before video.
This is some of me picking him up, some of me unloading him at the house, and some of where we are today.
Right now Tino and I are just building a relationship and proper communication. There will be more to come with Tino. ❤️
