Some of my pet dog clientele are aware I compete with my personal dog in protection sports. We were able to achieve first place on one of our competition days this past weekend. This was a massive achievement for us as we are competing in the higher levels of our sport. Super proud of this dog!

I know you love your dogs. I know they make you feel better when you cuddle them. THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM A SERVICE, OR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL!!!
We have got to, as a society, stop the fake service dog, fake emotional support dog phenomenon. It’s disgusting and it’s causing a major problem. If you want a dog pay the cost of having that dog. Pay the pet deposits, pay the pet sitter, etc. That’s the cost of owning that animal. Paying online for a certificate or a license is fake. It does not certify your animal in any way. Service dogs are specially picked animals that go through years of training and a lot of those even wash out and don’t make it. The training is rigorous and the dogs are special. Why… BECAUSE THEY ARE MEDICAL INSTERMENTS! People’s lives are at stake when it comes to service dogs, which is why I don’t train them. I cannot ethically take on that responsibility with my schedule. Basic obedience pet dog training is taxing enough as it is.
Currently the feds do not regulate these dogs in any way. What’s about to happen though? With all the fake service dogs fake ESD’s out there we are creating a need for the feds to step in. It’s already almost impossible to get one of these dogs, and costs a fortune, do you think it’ll be easier once the feds get involved? When has the government ever made anything easier?

I cannot count the number of people that have reached out to my business over the years trying to get me to “train their dog as a service dog” when that person has ZERO disability that would require a service dog, the dogs behavioral issues would disqualify them immediately as such, and they would in no way be committed to training if that level. The days of marking fluffy as a service animal simply because you enjoy petting them need to end!
Service dogs are very specifically picked dogs that are HIGHLY TRAINED medical instruments. NOT PETS WITH PRIVILEGES!

Hannah Griffith I’m so proud of you and Gator! That’s a LOT of dog!!! People don’t know the hours you put in at work as a vet tech, full time school, working cattle, not to mention Rip. Hannah had a whole other handful of a Mal she rescued from euthanasia. She has completely turned Rip’s life around and now hopefully he’ll be a LEO K9 very soon. Unfortunately your prey monster couldn’t help whatever he caught a glimps if behind that fence.
Santanya Molina… girl!! You have a BEAST of a dutchy and it absolutely breaks my heart everyone there didn’t get to witness that dog’s dominance in bitework this weekend. Grim just did that thing dutchy’s sometimes do. I have no doubt you’ll be there VERY VERY SOON!!
I love my club so much. It is full of so many amazing people and not a single person let anything get them down this weekend, only celebrated the victories, and immediately came together to start planning the future. Trials are there to test our training and expose weaknesses and holes. We found ours and are already working on fixing what’s wrong.

This sweet girl is a rescue we picked up and is going through our training program handled here by Javier Lopez. Javier has really put in the work with this girl coming in as a behavioral modification case completely shut down, skin and bones, terrified of EVERYTHING. Now she is the most happy go lucky goofy pup you’ll ever meet, ready to take on the world, and has some nice obedience training backing her up. Kennel trained, potty trained, basic commands, and comes with two follow up sessions with Javier.

I usually don’t work my pet dog clients on my mill. I try and mimic activities the owners will do with their dogs once back home. This helps set the dog up knowing what to expect opposed to learning to satisfy in a way that they’ll never get again. I know not all dog trainers follow that logic and that’s okay too. This however, is a confidence building exercise for Tino due to his fear and anxiety behavioral issues. This was a lot of work for Tino to push through and he did great. He’s still not taking food when put into stressful situations, so food reward wasn’t an option here. We’re building though! 👊🏻
Good session with Tino this morning. He’s starting to understand the picture. It’s time to start getting him out into the world now and put into practice away from my home. Lots of structured walks to help focus Tino’s mind and get him out of 24/7 anxiety mode.
Tino dealing with life. This isn’t out of the norm behavior for him. This is typical behavior for him. This is his normal day to day state of mind.
Tino is hyper aware of his environment and super stressed. It takes a lot for him to just relax and be a dog. Tethering decompression exercises keep him from pacing constantly and helps him to calm down. This was a 45 minute process just for him to finally relax.
Here is some of Tino who has come for a board and train. Tino deals with massive amounts of fear that’s manifested into reactivity and slight aggression. I usually don’t get before video just because I’m always concentrating on the dog and not thinking about grabbing that click bait video. However, with Tino I needed his owners to load him up for me, so I was able to grab a little before video. This is some of me picking him up, some of me unloading him at the house, and some of where we are today. Right now Tino and I are just building a relationship and proper communication.
