It’s the time of year again, time to book your pups boarding for the holiday season before we book up! The Canine Etiquette Academy nested next to the Weiser River is just south of Council. Send your dog on vacation this year to the dog kennel that treats your pup to the time of their lives.

We cannot wait to welcome your pup to our very own piece of doggy paradise. We pride our selves on giving each dog ample play, excise, and personal affection during the day either in our fenced in yards for group play, one on one with a staff member, or on a hike through the trail systems on our 200 acre property.

Interspersed with this play and activity your dog will have a private suite in our brand new kennel building where they can enjoy some peaceful relaxation while staying warm and cozy. Indoor outdoor runs measuring a massive 5x8 inside and 5x16 outside give your pup plenty of room to move around freely and have 24x7 access to a bathroom.

A selection of additional services can be added on to your pets stay to make it even more enjoyable including peanut butter kongs to keep those chewers busy, puzzle toys to allow your pet the joy of problem solving for their dinner, nail trims to shorten those sharp little claws, extra 1 on 1 walks to give your pup more personal attention, bedtime stories to tuck your pup in for the night and give them one last petting session, and professional photography to provide you a one of a kind art piece staring your best friend.

What is drop in class?

This is a one hour period for you to come out with your dog and work in a structured environment. Each person can work on whatever they want, obedience, agility, and ect. I will be around to answer any questions and give advice but this is not a structured class.

Our board and train dog Max is finishing up his training with us and should be going home soon!

Max the GSD puppy practices his climb command with trainer Laurie. Max is here learning his basic manners and how to make good choices. One of the things that sets the Canine Etiquette Academy's dog training apart from others is our focus on generalizing. Dogs need to be able to reliable preform a behavior in 7 different locations before they are considered generalized to the command and we can expect them to preform it anywhere. For this reason the last two weeks of our board and train our dedicated to field trips. Up to McCall and down to Weiser we take the dogs all over to ensure they will listen everywhere.

We are Canine Etiquette Academy, a small family of dog lovers! We offer dog boarding and dog training. We love spending time with our dogs and want to do the same for your dogs.

Dog boarding: leave your dog(s) with us as you go on a trip! We promise to treat them like a part of the family with daily walks, a heated indoor kennel and outside access 24/7.

Dog training: our board and train dog training is perfect for those who need a little help with their dogs but just don’t have the time. Let us do the work and you maintain the training! We’ve had a lot of happy clients and want to help you and your dog.

All drop offs, pickups, and tours are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! We must be available to meet you and your dog and we are not a standard boarding kennel business. Please call or text us to set something up today

Look at this cutie pie!

Isla is a 5 month old labradoodle. Don’t you just love her coloring?

We are able to board dogs of all ages, from puppies to old dogs. Our indoor/outdoor kennels allow the dogs to use the bathroom as needed but also stay out of all the elements. Dogs are in our heated kennels to keep them warm in the winter and our ac is on during those hot Idaho summers.

If we had this much energy in the morning we could get so much done 😂.

Everyone this is Mo our current boarding dog who is here because he has this much energy at 7am and 9pm and all hours in between. He is a German Shorthair Pointer so that shouldn't be too surprising and while he likes to spend much of his time running like a bat out of hell he is also a very people oriented and affectionate dog.

Violet had to celebrate her first birthday away from her people so we did our best to make it special for her. No she didn't get all the cake to herself, each of her doggy friends got a slice too. Happy Birthday Violet you are a big girl now!

Mickey did beautifully for his first field trip to McCall the other day!There were a few huff but I told him no and he got right back to business with me. I wouldn’t know he had any previous experience with MCCALL pet outfitters except that they recognized Mickey when we came in. He first day to McCall was great and I can’t wait to see how his future dog training field trips go!

It’s really nice to get to take my own dog out every once and a while to remind myself what the end result of training should be. I’m not saying he is perfect but he is a joy and I love him every day.

Our board and train program can do wonders for your dog!

Gracie the golden doodle has been working with us since December with our board and train program! At 1 year old she loves listening to her owners but would quickly have issues when guests would come over.

Since staying with us, Gracie has learned to manage her energy! She learned to manage her energy in new settings, around other dogs, and people.

Auto got to board with us!! If you look closely in the photo you will see a leash attached to him.

We always have a leash on a dog if we don’t trust them off leash with a recall. We also make sure each dog has a good recall before we allow them off leash.

Our leashes run from 4 ft to 15 ft long, so plenty of room to run and enjoy the activities with the other dogs!!

Let’s chat recalls.

This is what 90% of the dogs that I help struggle with. If there is a single command that will save your dogs life it is having a 100% reliable recall.

I don’t mean that your dog comes after you call their name three or four times.

I don’t mean that they finish sniffing first.

I don’t mean that they come unless they are being petted.

I don’t mean that they come after they get that toy.

**I mean that your dog hears their name and they immediately turn and come charging back to you. **

Imagine how that would feel. Imagine not worrying how you will ever get your dog back every time you unclip their lead. Imagine how much it would improve the quality of life for both of you.

Whats better? A 100% solid recall is a standard part of our basic obedience program here at the Canine Etiquette Academy. Having a dog that is ready to go places could be your reality in just 4 weeks.

How was your weekend?

Polaris had a great weekend and we finished it off with a wonderful training session. The reality of being a dog trainer is that you spend more time working client dogs then your own.

That being said I would never give up having my two personal dogs, they help me when training other peoples dogs and they are my continuous learning experiments.

Paco was a little bit of a wild child when he came here, over the four weeks he spent at the Canine Etiquette Academy he learned basic manners including sit, down, heel, come, and climb. More importantly than any of these commands though he learned self control and discipline that helped him mature from a out of control puppy into a well mannered gentleman.

Teaching dogs manners from a young age not only helps prevent problems down the road it is exponentially beneficial to their social development and understanding of the world.
