Placing Lucky Dogs In Lucky Homes! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
HOW DOES THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORK? A home visit may also be done prior to acquiring the dog.
The adoption process begins by completing our online application, found at the bottom of the Biography section on each dogs profile page. On the application, you can specifiy which dog(s) you are interested in adopting. Once the application is approved, you will be contacted by one of our volunteers and/or fosters. The foster or volunteer will share their experiences, and help you get to know the
dog. We will arrange a Meet & Greet, where all members of the family will meet the dog. After the Application, Home Visit and Meet & Greet are completed, it all parties are still in agreement, we will proceed with the adoption. Our minimum age for adoption is 25 year of age. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? It generally should take no more than one week to complete the process. Most times it can be completed in a matter of days. You may hear from us sooner if we have any questions regarding your application. HOW MUCH IS THE ADOPTION FEE AND WHAT IS INCLUDED? The adoption fees vary by age and health status. These fees are the major source of funding for the rescue. It is used to pay for veterinary care and shelter fees, allowing us to continue to rescue more dogs. Your adopted dog will be neutered or spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and checked by a veterinarian for an overall health/wellness examination. We ask a minimum donation to the rescue of $350 for dogs older than eight months and $400 for puppies eight months and younger. For seniors or dogs with health issues, our fees may be reduced. MUST MY YARD BE FENCED? Having a fenced yard is always preferable and sometimes required depending on the dog. WHY SHOULD I ADOPT A RESCUE DOG? Help save a precious life! Many dogs end up on death row in kill-shelters through no fault of their own. Most are strays but many are irresponsibly abandoned by their families for many reasons which indicate they never should have owned a dog in the first place (job relocation, new spouse doesn't like it, no time...etc.). Some are even confiscated from their owners due to cruelty or neglect. Rescued dogs are evaluated for health and temperament and matched to the right home. We want to make sure you get a dog that is best for your family. We will counsel you should there be any adjustment issues and support you to correct any potentially unacceptable behaviors for the entire lifetime of your new pet. Where else can you get that kind of continued support? We care about the dogs and your experience with them. IS OBEDIENCE TRAINING NECESSARY? WHAT ABOUT CRATING? No dogs are "instant pets" as they all require some work. Obedience training is a wonderful way to help a new dog adjust and will reinforce already learned commands or provide learning for the first time. It will help the dog accept that you are in charge and ease the building of a bond with you. Dogs do best when provided with positive reinforcement and gentle methods of training. We highly recommend that you carefully choose a trainer. Crating should be viewed from a dog's perspective. Humans tend to see it a "puppy jail" and a cruel means of restraint. The fact is that dogs have a natural need for their own safe space and crates provide a means to satisfy their den instincts. Many crate-trained dogs like to lay in an open crate when they want to be left alone. Crating a dog facilitates housebreaking and prevents destructive behaviors when left alone. We highly encourage crating and obedience training.

PLEASE keep your pets inside once the fireworks start. Every year dogs get out, they are lucky if the end up in the pound, many of them get killed on the road! Make sure you have tags with YOUR contact info on a well fitting collar. Just do it!!!!

COURTESY POST - Southwest Oasis Lab Rescue (SOLR) has adorable puppies available for Adoption through their PAWS Program!
SOLR’s beautiful litter of puppies are starting their search for their forever homes. These 8 adorable little ones, will be adopted through SOLR’s PAWS Program, which places puppies with their families at 8 weeks old so they can start bonding. Puppies will continue to receive shots and will be spayed/neutered by the rescue, all while snuggling with their families. Adoption is completed after vaccine and spay/neuter are complete. Adopters must follow the guidelines of the program.

Update on our sweet Teddy. This big boy at 100 pounds is still looking for his forever family. Teddy is about 14 months old, loves people, perfect house manners, house trained, anfld gets along well with non- reactive dogs of all sizes.

Our 4 year old Labrador Laddy. He is up for adoption and is looking for a nice home to call his own. Laddy came to us very dirty with a horrible ear infection (photo on the left), now look at him how beautiful he is. Thanks to the diligent care of his foster and our vet. Laddy is the perfect dog. He is well behaved, lives with cats and another large dog. He is a very sweet dog.

Meet Lucky Dog Rescue's newest, Astro. Astro is a very sweet Lab/Aussie mix. He is about 10 months old. Astro came to us with a torn ACL. We got it repaired and he is all better now. Astro does well with other dogs. He is in a foster home with multiple dogs, large and small and a 7 year old girl.

I am desperately trying to save this beautiful 3 year old purebred Labrador. He is at high risk for euthanasia at AZ Humane.
I can only save him if I have a dedicated foster. Lucky Dog Rescue provides you with everything your foster dog may need, you provide the love. Foster must be will to take to our vet in Scottsdale (we cover all vet bills) Medical: ear infection!!

Behavior
Fuji is a beautiful labrador that came to the shelter as an injured stray. He has allowed medical handling and walks well on leash with staff. However he is very scared and is not confident enough to seek attention from people yet. Fuji will do much better in a rescue that can provide a calm and consistent environment so he can start bonding with people.

Meet our latest intake. Beautiful Teddy. Teddy is a 2 year old Labrador/German Shepherd mix. Teddy loves kids, and other dogs. Cats are not so much his thing. Teddy loves to swim, he has a lot of energy and he is well trained. Teddy is looking for a new home to call his own.

We have been very busy saving dogs this week. We took in 6 months old Brinje, a Dalmatian mix from safford, a very high kill shelter, Then we saved 9 year old poodle boy Gizmo, who is very sweet and my fav breed, I saved a Basset girl named Daisy, she is 6 years old. All dogs are super friends with other dogs and people. Especially Daisy, she is a real "peope dog".

Meet Julius! He and his ”brother” knew just what they were doing when they basically showed up at our Assistant Director’s door. After getting plenty of food, treats, and brand new collars, these cuties were scheduled for their first vet visits. We noticed that Julius had quite a limp. X-rays confirmed that he will need surgery to repair his hip. We are consulting with a specialist to make sure he's off to a fresh start. Please visit click below to help us raise our $3,000 goal!
