Traditionally, Butter Tea is used in Tibet to replenish the nutritional deficiency caused by the lack of produce in the plateau environment. It is believed that the nutritional properties of raw milk and raw butter can strengthen one’s physique, nourish the intestines and stomach, and energize the body. The aromatic substances in Butter Tea can dissolve fat and help digestion.

Better Butter Tea is formulated to improve nutrient utilization, benefiting the kidneys, liver, and heart, endocrine system, and mental health.

Parsley contains relatively high levels of calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium. These minerals bind to arsenic, lead, mercury, and cadmium, allowing them to be more efficiently removed from the body.

Dandelion root has been shown to increase HDL cholesterol, reduce oxidative damage, and support the detox organs. Traditionally, dandelion root has been used as a diuretic — a natural way to eliminate excess fluid retention. This improves blood flow and nutrient circulation.

Yucca is a rich source of steroidal saponins. It has the ability to reduce the inflammatory response. Yucca also inhibits the production of nitric oxide and is effective at killing giardia protozoa.

The raw milk and raw butter for Better Butter Tea are from the beautiful milk from happy, grass fed, pastured goats.

Two of my friends (who are also science nerds that enjoy experimenting in their spare time) discovered that you can make your own fermented raw goat’s milk by combining an Adored Beast probiotic with Green Juju Raw Goat’s Milk and letting it sit on your counter for 24 hours. That’s it! 🤯

➡️ Add 2 tsp of Fido’s Flora (🐶 a canine specific probiotic with SBOs) per quart of Green Juju Goat’s Milk.
or
➡️ Add 1/2 tsp other Adored Beast probiotics (Love Bugs, Healthy Gut, Gut Soothe) per quart of Green JuJu Goat’s Milk.

🥛 This is a delicious and nutritious topper for any diet for both dogs and cats! 🐱 🐶

Wild fermentation — the process we incorporate in Bam’s Beets and Lua’s Fermented Golden Paste — uses the naturally occurring healthy bacteria and yeasts in the food for fermentation. Sea salt is added to lower the pH and create the right environment for naturally occurring bacteria to grow. Then they go to work digesting the sugars and starches present.

This means all of the healthy probiotics and healthy yeast come from the food itself and, in the case of vegetables, are soil based. These friendly bacteria also make the food more digestible, add vitamins, organic acids and extra enzymes!

We chose wild fermentation because the naturally occurring bacteria are different in each batch. That creates a more diverse microbiome. The alternative, feeding a product already inoculated with probiotics, would lead to monoculturing. Too much of certain strains (even if they’re good!) will throw everything else off balance.

Wild fermentation is the secret sauce for a strong and healthy microbiome.

One of our favorite new combinations: Just Greens + Raw Goat's Milk.

If you can can combine any two things to enhance your pup's diet, this is the place to start.

Why? Because of probioitcs and prebiotics. ... Probiotics are the live, healthy bacteria that help boost your dog’s digestive system and help it break down food. Prebiotics, often found in high-fiber foods, become food for that good bacteria that is present inside a healthy microbiome.

Our Just Greens Blend is an awesome source of probiotics. Meanwhile, our new Raw Goat’s Milk contains both natural prebiotics and probiotics. You can also ferment it with your choice of additional probiotics.

Put them together and you’ve got a recipe for a strong, healthy digestive system.

Love these products!

Summer is here, and it’s only getting hotter. While often fun for us, the heat can get pretty miserable for our pets with their thick coats. Luckily, there are easy things we can do to not only keep them hydrated but boost their nutrition — all while giving them a treat they’ll love.

Three of our favorite products for hydration are our Bison Bone Broth, our Duck Bone Broth and our new Raw Goat’s Milk. Each of these products offers great electrolytes which help keep your pup hydrated. Think of it like natural Gatorade!

Each product approaches hydration from a different angle, and that variety helps ensure that your dog is ready to beat the summer heat!

Can’t wait.

Pure. Simple. Raw. ... We are insanely excited about our final new product of the week, Raw Goat’s Milk!

But ... it’s been done before, right? What makes Green Juju’s Raw Goat’s Milk different from all the others out there? Well, let me tell you.

Virtually every other raw milk product on the pet market is already fermented or has the same probiotics added to every bottle. We offer pure, unfermented goat’s milk because then you have three options for how to feed it based on your pet’s unique needs.

1. Feed pure Raw Goat’s Milk with nothing added — Raw milk is nature’s most perfect food and, for most healthy pets, this is the best and easiest way to go.

2. Ferment the milk with a rotating cast of probiotics — You can ferment the milk in 24 hours with your choice of probiotics. And you can rotate them often (not an option with other milks on the market) for a balanced microbiome and the best results.

3. Make the milk lactose-free — For the most sensitive pets, you can add lactase enzymes and, after 24 hours in the fridge, you’ll have incredibly healthy, lactose-free goat’s milk.

We discussed it all on today’s Green Juju Live. And to go a step further, Billy has also filmed a video where he breaks down the benefits of all three ways to feed our Raw Goat’s Milk and explains exactly how you can do each of them at home.

New from Green Juju!

First Bailey’s Blend and now Bam has a product named for her, too!

If you didn’t catch Green Juju Live tonight, you missed the unveiling of Bam’s Beets — the first of three new products we’re introducing this week! It’s the result of true collaboration, blending my knowledge of plants with Billy’s expertise in fermentation.

Bam’s Beets are made with organic red beets and purple cabbage fermented as a whole food source of probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and more. It can be fed to enhance any type of diet, including kibble, canned, dehydrated, freeze dried, raw or home-cooked foods.

One of the things that makes Bam's Beets unique is that it is wild fermented, which means your pet is getting a more diverse and unique range of probiotics in every bite.

The last time I posted this it went viral 🤯

It rubbed some the right way and some the wrong way with lots of different opinions about my opinion ... and I still say the same 💁‍♀️

It seems that the ultimate goal for dog owners is to have a dog they can bring to a dog park because that must mean their dog can tolerate and deal with anything 🧐

And I wonder why that's so important?

I understand that many owners with this as their goal in mind, doing it with the best intentions, assuming they’re doing the right thing and are improving the quality of their dog’s life. And for a small amount of dogs, it can be a great experience.

But…

If you have a dog that doesn't really enjoy other dogs, you don't do your dog any favor trying to get him to a point where he can "tolerate" being at the dog park...usually it's quite the opposite and you'll lose your dogs trust that you got his back.

Or if you have a dog that enjoys playing really rough, why is it so important that he can "play" with the miniature doodle at the park rather than finding him a personal play mate that is on his level?

There's many reasons why I don't bring my dog to a dog park regardless of how well tempered and balanced my dog would be...the environment is just way too uncontrolled.

It's like going to a night club, you never know what to expect LOL

The fact that the majority of dogs are dog selective, meaning they prefer a more social circle than having to hug and kiss every stranger they come in contact with, is just another one.

But one of the big reasons I don't bring any dogs there is, because it really is a very unnatural environment for dogs and if you'd like to understand more about this, read my article on that topic on my website blog https://www.k9possible.com/single-post/2016/04/05/why-dog-parks-are-unnatural-how-to-properly-socialize-your-dog

I love this story about Maggie❤️

CLUES TO BEING THE WORLD'S LONGEST LIVED DOG! 🐶

Maggie, a 30-year old Kelpie from Australia🇦🇺 was reportedly the oldest dog in the world from Victoria, Australia. Brian McLaren (Maggie’s guardian) shared with us that she spent her days working on his dairy farm among sheep and cattle, running on average 12.5 miles a day, seven days a week, for two decades!

In our book, The Forever Dog, she is one of the many examples of long-lived dogs that spent ample time outside on a daily basis, got plenty of exercise, had a low-stress lifestyle, and consumed some raw, unprocessed foods. And though genetics certainly plays a role, it is no coincidence that the one consistent variable among all of the oldest dogs in the world was daily rigorous exercise - rain, snow or shine.🌧❄️☀️ And while most of our dogs aren’t working a dairy farm, there are simple things we can do to improve our dog’s health and longevity.

In our interview with Dr. David Sinclair,👨🏼‍🔬 the world’s leading geneticist from Harvard Medical School shared, just keeping our dogs lean and giving them 5-10 minutes of breathlessness every day, heart-thumping exercise, can contribute to slowing down the aging process.🧬

You can read more about these long-lived dogs and our more suggestions for what you can do to help maximize your dog’s health in our new book: ForeverDog.com

WANT TO HELP YOUR DOG LIVE LONGER? TRY THIS!🍵🐶

When designing our blueprint📝 on how-to raise the oldest dogs in the world for our new book, The Forever Dog, we focused our research heavily on science-based longevity foods, herbs & supplements that can be added to your dog’s diet. Foods that could not only help delay canine aging, but can help nourish and bullet-proof💥 your dog against disease!

No matter which longevity scientist we interviewed, the one suggestion that made every researcher’s top 10 list of what to add to a dog’s bowl was “camellia sinensis,” aka Green Tea!🍃

In fact, the latest study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology shows people who drink green tea at least three times a week can live longer and suffer a lower risk of cardiovascular disease!

That’s because Green Tea is rich in polyphenols, and contains a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which are found to help prevent cell damage, reduce inflammation and can help fight cancer while providing other health benefits, of course.

But what about dogs? Are there any studies? Shockingly, we found a bunch!
The most recent showed that Green Tea🍵 acts as a therapeutic agent for obesity, liver inflammation, and fat degeneration in dogs!

While many of us make juices or smoothies, most of us don’t think about using concentrated medicinal infusions in our food. But in the dog world, medicinal teas make inexpensive, polyphenol-rich toppers (“gravies”) that infuse longevity benefits into every meal. So, it should come as no surprise that green tea has been used in pet food for quite some time, but not in quantities to confer health benefits, so why not add some at home?

All teas can be steeped as usual, then cooled off prior to adding to your dog’s food. Green teas should be decaffeinated, and preferably organic.

Alternatively, add warm tea to your dog’s dry food and allow the therapeutic brew to marinate with the kibble prior to feeding, creating a super-saucy gravy and adding hydration (dogs aren’t designed to eat low-moisture, dried food their whole lives; teas help!). If you feed dehydrated or freeze-dried dog food, reconstitute them prior to feeding with tea!

Recipe for Organic Decaf Green Tea🍵 for Pets🐾:

1.Combine 3 cups of purified water and 1 tea bag or 1 tablespoon of loose tea leaves🫖
2.Steep for 15 minutes
3.Remove the tea bag or use a strainer to remove the tea leaves🍃
4.Store the tea in a covered, preferably glass pitcher in the fridge for up to 3 days

Add the following amounts of decaf green tea to your pet’s morning and evening meal:

• Cats — 1 tablespoon
• Small dogs — 1/8th cup
• Medium dogs — ¼ to ½ cup
• Large dogs — ½ to 1 cup

This is one simple and powerful way to add longevity benefits to your dog’s bowl! Looking for more ideas or recipes? Check out our new book with dozens of other suggestions in the Forever Fluids section of our book, available for pre-order now by clicking here: www.foreverdog.com/book

HELP! I can’t seem to get any weight off my dog!😫

Struggling to help your pooch🐶 shed those extra pounds? Or looking to prevent some of the most common lifestyle-related diseases plaguing our canine companions (including obesity, diabetes and cancer)?

Did you know that just feeding your dog within a specific window of time has not only the potential to optimize their weight, but can also reduce the likelihood of some of the most common chronic diseases plaguing our pets’ today? When trying to help their dogs lose weight, many pet parents have hit a wall trying to get those extra pounds off their pets! Some folks have tried special diets, have signed up to special exercise classes or they may have tried cutting their food portions in half and nothing seems to work.🤯

The good news? Research shows simply changing WHEN⏰ we feed our dogs increases fat burning, improves energy, and can help get those extra pounds of your dog! You can positively affect your dog’s metabolism and overall well-being simply by feeding all of his or her daily calories within an 8-hour window.🕰

In fact, according to longevity scientists, one of the two most important factors that dictate life span and health span is WHEN⏰ you feed your dog.

We sat down with Dr. Satchin Panda of the Salk Institute and Harvard University’s Dr. David Sinclair to discuss the profound health benefits of creating a daily “eating window,”🪟 which follows a dog’s evolutionary feast-and-fast cycle, and the remarkable health benefits that come by instituting this simple longevity strategy, including a reduced risk of cancer, reduced inflammation in the body, improved brain🧠 health, and a longer lifespan!🧬

In our upcoming book, The Forever Dog, we devote an entire chapter called “Personalized Meals as Medicine💊” and provide a blueprint on how to transition your dog to a healthier lifestyle, one step at a time, including how to determine what your dog’s eating window should be, based around your own lifestyle and schedule.

STUDY REVEALS THE LINK BETWEEN OUR LAWNS, OUR PETS🐾, CANCER🔥 AND US

Beware pet parents: Treating your lawn with yard chemicals☠️, allowing your pet to eat or play on grass that’s been sprayed💦, or walking your pet on golf courses⛳️ can negatively affect our dog’s health, according to several studies. In fact, it can impact your entire family, as pets can bring those chemicals back inside!

In our new book, The Forever Dog, it was critical for us to highlight things in and around your home that could damage your pet’s DNA. According to Dr. David Sinclair, Professor of Genetics, and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at Harvard Medical School- “DNA damage speeds up aging.”

Several studies show: dogs exposed (through laying, playing, ingesting or inhalation) to treated lawns has been associated with a significantly higher bladder cancer risk, and dogs whose owners reported use of professionally applied lawn pesticides were 70 PERCENT more likely to have lymphoma (cancer). In fact, there was an even higher risk of lymphoma if owners used self-applied insect growth regulators on their yards to control cockroaches, fleas, and other pests!🐜

Our book focuses on how to raise the healthiest, happiest, long-lived dogs, and in it we teach you how to evaluate your dog’s indoor and outdoor environmental chemical exposure⚠️. In the section of the book titled Environmental Impact: The Body Burden, where we offer you tips like:

• Safer lawn-care options
• DIY non-toxic w**d killer recipes
• Home Chemical Exposure Pet checklist
• Forever Dog Foot Soak Recipe
• Supplements that support chemical clearance

We know many of you Longevity Junkies have already pre-ordered your copy of the book (thank you!!😻) but are desperate for solutions and suggestions right NOW! We put together a handy guide with gems from the book you can institute this week.

This free resource is crucial this summer if you have pets spending time outdoors because even if you don’t buy lawn chemicals, it doesn’t mean your dog isn’t being exposed. Home foot soaks after walks in parks and public spaces can go a long way in reducing your dog’s chemical exposure.

THE DANGEROUS REALITY OF PET FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS

Whether in a pet shop, box store, or online, pet food storage containers are being offered everywhere. Heck, at expos and trade shows they are given away to market a company’s brand name! However, these storage containers can be deadly if used incorrectly!

We all grew up in the age of Tupperware and storing our food in plastic containers. I mean, storage containers were designed to preserve foods, help organize our kitchens, and make our lives easier. Right?

Well, with the amount of information made available to us today, this thought process has changed quickly! With all the research that has been published on eating food out of plastic, that era of using plastic awesomeness has officially died!

Today, more and more families are throwing out their plastic food storage containers (recycle!) and switching to safer alternatives.

But what about our furry companions? Are they receiving the same consideration when it comes to food storage?

Not according to research, they aren’t!

Today, retail shelves are littered with storage containers for dry and wet pet foods; from products like snap & seals and air-tight stackables, to plastic storage carts on wheels.

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL?

Let’s start with the obvious:

Research has shown that certain plastic containers leach an assortment of chemicals into our foods and, of course, pet foods! Chemicals in plastic like BPA have been shown to have hormone mimicking, estrogenic and cancer properties.

“Ok. No problem,” you may say, because as we know BPA has been taken out of some plastic storage containers and replaced with a different chemical called bisphenol-S (BPS).

But according to science, BPS appears to be just as toxic (if not more so) than BPA.

“In 2013, researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch discovered that even minute concentrations—less than one part per trillion—of BPS can disrupt cellular functioning. Metabolic disorders like obesity, diabetes, and even cancer, are potential ramifications of such disruptions.” – Mercola https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/01/130122191412.htm

TO KEEP RAINING ON THE STORAGE CONTAINER PARADE -

Pet food containers have phthalates & estrogenic activity going on!

In the Environmental Health Perspectives study, they found that out of 500 plastic products they tested, plastics leached when stressed, and 90 percent of them leached even without stress. In fact, the Environmental Health Perspectives study found that some BPA-free products had even more estrogenic activity than BPA-containing products! - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3222987/

Here’s some more rain - Lest we forget phthalates!

Phthalates, which are used as plasticizers in everything, and especially pet food storage containers, have shown to be super-destructive!

“These chemicals have disrupted the endocrine systems of wildlife, causing testicular cancer, ge***al deformations, low s***m counts, and infertility in polar bears, deer, whales, and otters, just to name a few.” - Dr. Karen Becker

OK, NOW FOR THE WHOPPER OF A PROBLEM!

Are you washing your pet food container daily??

When the fats and oils of kibble hit the walls of pet food containers, they begin to oxidize (especially in the plastic ones).

Once the reaction starts, it is self propagating and unstoppable. The oxidation reaction creates free radicals that oxidize fat molecules. The inevitable result is an avalanche of oxidation, and like nearly all-chemical reactions in nature, the warmer the conditions the faster it goes.

In layman terms: over time, the residual fats and oils that have settled along the walls and bottom of the storage container start to grow rancid and develop the invisible molds that will aid in the destruction of your pet’s health. That greasiness along the walls of your container is not so awesome!

According to Pet food formulator (maker) Steve Brown:

“As soon as a food is manufactured, it begins to undergo a variety of chemical and physical changes. It’s a basic law of the universe that everything degrades over time. This includes the proteins and vitamins in dog foods, but it’s the fats I worry about the most. Fats are among the most chemically fragile nutrients in dog food; they are the limiting factor to the shelf life of most dog foods. Fats that have degraded – gone “rancid” – can cause all sorts of health problems for dogs.”

WHY DO YOU NEED TO WASH PET FOOD STORAGE BINS DAILY?

Answer: Because plastic containers have tiny little microscopic pores!

When these fats get trapped in the pores, over time, they too will also grow rancid and contaminate each new batch of food poured into the containers. (Pet parents unknowingly keep pouring new bags of food in the containers, over and over, without washing out the rancid-formed fats and molds!)

Moral of the story:

Try to avoid using a plastic container to store kibble. However, if you already purchased the container, keep the food in its original bag and place that bag into the plastic container. This will help keep oxygen away from degrading the kibble, and saves you the giant disaster that could occur. (Remember to wash that container periodically.)

OR

A BETTER ROUTE TO TAKE: CHOOSE GLASS OVER PLASTIC

To avoid chemical toxins leaching into your pet food, choose glass over plastic when choosing a storage method. Glass pet food storage containers don’t leach unwanted, poisonous chemicals when in contact with pet food. Glass containers are non-porous and won’t absorb rancid oils. However, you should still wash these containers regularly.

OR

Just buy smaller bags of pet food so there is no need for these toxic containers in the first place. :)
