Did you know this week is National Dog Bite Prevention Week®?
🐶According to the AVMA (a founding sponsor of the event), an estimated 4.5 million people in the U.S. are bitten by dogs each year.
PSI encourages you to keep this tip in mind:
👉Do not interact with a dog without permission.
Dog lovers may be tempted to pet any dog they encounter, but they should exercise restraint. Many (if not most) pet sitters don’t allow interaction with the pets in their care, so ask before approaching any dog.🐕
Don’t be offended if a pet sitter or dog walker asks you not to approach, or moves to another side of the street.
This is to ensure your safety—and the safety of the dog.
