First pig c-section done! Of course on one of our own AI gilts…hoping she makes a smooth recovery! No piglets survived and all were very big. Hopefully she can foster some other piglets instead. Shout out to the best tech (the husband) and a patient 4yo child! 😊

Scrotal hernia surgery and castration. The herniated content surrounding the testicle was the omentum, normally a thin sheet of fat surrounding the internal organs. In this case, it was thickened, had adhesions, and would not be able to be replaced back into the abdomen through the small inguinal canal. So the decision was made to amputate it. Then he got castrated and was given pain meds and antibiotics post-op 💉🩺

Anthelminitic (dewormer) resistance is a real thing. Please speak with your veterinarian before administering dewormers to your livestock. There are only 3 classes of dewormers and if the parasites becomes resistant to all classes, we are SOL 🤷🏽‍♀️
