Why We Care

Jenni

When I was 21, I met Jenni. She was a rescue - a one year old from a shelter in Tennessee. The year after I got Jenni, my dad died.

I was crushed. She is absolutely the reason I got through that experience. She showed me nothing but unconditional love in the hardest moments of my life. She didn’t care what shape I was in or if my breath stunk or if I was crying uncontrollably. She just loved me no matter what.

Stanley

In 2013 I met Ross. We moved, we got engaged, we got married, and our little loving dog family became whole when we decided to adopt our second pupper, Stanley.

Stanley is a cunucu from the island of Aruba. He was rescued by the amazing folks over at New Life for Paws. When we adopted Stanley, I felt conflicted. I loved that we were helping this beautiful little pup find his forever home, but there were so many other dogs that we couldn’t bring home and love.

We couldn’t help all the dogs out there, but we can do our best to help as many as we can.

100% Committed

In 2020, we started Life After Rescue on Instagram as a way to document our puppers’ life after rescue and spread awareness to other folks interested in adopting their own rescue pups. At the same time, we started researching our dogs’ food to support them being their healthiest, best dog-selves.

We started tinkering in our own kitchens and realized we could help dogs live healthier lives while helping to fund shelters and rescue organizations at the same damn time! These two passions merged together and Life After Rescue as we now know it was born.

DogBoss

We joke that we don’t own our dogs - we work for them. We’ve got multiple jobs to provide for them. We have a little dog camera so we can monitor them when we’re away. We take them for different hikes in New England every weekend so they can get out and see the world. And when we’ve got free time, we’re working hard on this business to help other dogs live healthier lives and find loving homes. It’s a full-full-full time job - but it’s our life and we love it.

Our dogs are the best thing that ever happened to us.
