When He said “Ask and you shall receive”, I didn’t think he meant by noon on Friday! 😁. My heart is full knowing that so many people want to help take care of the animals that live outside with their families. ❤️ Thank you to everyone that donated. We received enough money to have 4 dogs altered and vaccinated. The hardest part sometimes is notifying the owners, but I will be working on that this week! Thanks so much!! 🙏🏼

Goodness. I don’t know about you guys, but I had to take a second to catch my breath. After our very close call with Lucy, and all the urgency felt in the rescue world right now, the weight can be overwhelming. Dogs are being dumped, WHOLE LITTERS OF PUPPIES are being found in cardboard boxes, animals are being euthanized every single day because there just aren’t enough fosters and resources to care for them all. This is now a community problem, so we as a community MUST step up and do something.

That being said, please meet this trio… Mouse, Zoe, and Kujo. They have quite the story, you’re not gonna believe this….

Mouse, the blonde pit mix, had a sister. We’ll call her Momma. Momma and Mouse lived outside with their dad who loves them both oh so much, and Momma ended up having a litter of 13 puppies. Not long after that, Momma was hit by a car, and didn’t make it. Mouse, who has never had puppies, then stepped in and started NURSING Mommas puppies!!! She actually produced milk and kept those 13 puppies alive!

The pups have all been placed with other families now (most who live outdoors) but Zoe and Kujo are still living together. Brother and sister. Both unaltered, and unvaccinated.

These two NEED to be fixed. And fast. As well as Mouse.
I am still donating my weekends and my gas to transport animals that live outside to the vet, and I will take these babies, but I’ll need help paying for it. $80 EACH should cover both altering and vaccinating.

My financials are below. ALSO, I am completely out of supplies to give to the animals that live outdoors with their families. There is an Amazon Wishlist pinned at the top of this page. If you could possibly pick a few things off of there to send my way, it could literally prevent a dog or two from being dumped or surrendered. This is such a hard time for everyone, sometimes people just need a little help to get over the hump.

As always,PLEASE SHARE and THANK YOU!! 🙏🏼🫶🏼

These 2 were both posted today. Almost every shelter or rescue in Ky has had intake closed for months. The strays are spilling over into the streets and reproducing. THIS IS A COMMUNITY PROBLEM. Everyone will have to step in, even if just for a bit, to get a handle on this.

I have contact with 3 dogs (2 are siblings) that live outside TOGETHER that desperately need to be altered. I’ll be posting them tomorrow with the hope of getting help with the vet bills. As always I will transport for free.

Lucy took her Freedom Ride today! It was a sad goodbye with her daddy, but he knows this is what’s best, and he’s so very grateful for the opportunity that she’s been given.

Lucy will stay with a professional trainer for the next couple days, where she’ll be evaluated before heading off to her next stop. Thank you to Carrie and Katelyn for stepping up for this girl.

This one really pulled at the heartstrings. I’m so grateful for good hearted ppl. It takes a village. Boy do I love ours. ❤️

You want to help the animal shelters and rescues, but you don’t think fostering is right for you???

Fostering is the #1 need of animal shelters and rescues right now. However, if you can’t foster, consider helping families in need of support, in order to allow them to keep their animals. Fewer intake requests would take a huge burden off the shelters and Rescues. There are several ways to do this…

1. Spay and Neuter. So many people need financial help with this. Also transportation can be a barrier, so researching low cost clinics and offering to take their animals would be HUGE at a time like this.

2. People are being forced to surrender their dogs because they have emergent medical needs that they can’t afford. You can call your local veterinarian and pledge $50-$100, whatever you can afford, to the next emergency patient that would otherwise have to turn down care because they can’t afford it.

3. Watch local pages for posts asking for dog food. This is hard time for everyone. Some people just need a little assistance to get over a hump. Offering to buy some dog food would take a huge burden off of them, and might keep them from considering surrender.

If you want to know other ways to help rescues and animals in need, you can pm me, or ANY OTHER SHELTER, RESCUE, VETERINARIAN OF YOUR CHOICE.

The shelters and rescues need community support right now. They need YOU! 🐶🐾🐶🐾

URGENT: ‼️
I have reached out to every shelter and rescue that I know of. Intake is closed everywhere. No one I’ve called is going to take Lucy. No one has reached out with other options.

Lucy’s owner has been evicted from the apartment he’s had for 15 years because of his inability to care for her. He is having spinal fusion surgery in 1 week. He will be lucky if he can find a couch to recover on. Our only option for Lucy now is humane euthanasia or dump.

I need a rescue for Lucy, an adopter, or euthanasia will be our only option. I will not allow this girl to starve to death on the street, get hit by car, or get snagged up by a dog fighter.

For all of you that have something to say about humane euthanasia, pm me your address. I’ll bring her right to ya!

Edit to add.. if any of my rescue friends have rescue ideas pls let me know. I’ve been sending emails to all the ones I know of. Id love to have more to add to my list. 🙏🏼

URGENT!!!

I posted a video about my dear friend Roy and his pretty girl Lucy a few weeks ago. If you haven't see that, you can go check it out, but in summary, we are now looking for PERMENANT PLACEMENT for Lucy. Roy is elderly and can not walk Lucy. He's having spinal fusion surgery in just a few weeks, and will not even be able to have Lucy in the house for safety reasons while he's recovering.

Lucy needs a forever home, and she needs it now. Lucy is 2 years old, spayed and vaccinated. Reportedly not dog aggressive, and not cat tested.

Lucy is an active girl. A structured environment, or a large yard or farm would be ideal.

PM me with any additional questions and PLEASE SHARE. Someone is going to be so happy to give her a forever home. We just need the reach to be able to find that person or family!

Thank you!!

On Thursdays I do outreach with the Estill Co Harm Reduction team. Also known as the SSP or needle exchange. At this specific location, there is a colony of cats that the locals will sometimes come and feed, do T+R, etc. So we always see cats milling around, but most are feral and don’t come close.
Yesterday this little fella walked by us with matted eyes and a raspy meow, and I just couldn’t let it stay there sick like that.
So now I’m nursing a cat back to health, with the help of Casey Potter, (since I’m clueless on how to care for cats)

JJ says we are absolutely not keeping this cat. So, “we are absolutely not keeping this cat” 😉

Anyway, I named him Carl, after a very special man I met at a needle exchange a couple years ago. A man whose light was dimmed just seconds before the world was able to know how brilliant he was. I knew how brilliant he was, and his name should live on. ♥️

Who remembers Mike and Millie??? Mikes story is pinned on this page. If you have a few mins, and you haven’t read it yet, it’s a good one.

Today we went to celebrate with Mike as he graduated from eKAMI. This weekend he’ll be moving to Tennessee to start his new life as a CNC Lathe Cell Machinist at Snap-On Tools, with his girl Millie by his side. 🐶

I’m including his graduation speech in the comments because many of the graduates were ppl in recovery from SUD. I know a lot of my followers here are either ppl in recovery or know ppl in recovery. This was a great program for Mike, so I want to share this with others that might relate, and also be able to benefit.

I know I’m notorious for the long posts, but I’m gonna try to get this point along quickly….. A few rescue friends and I have been sitting by on the sidelines for the last few months, just watching this new and upcoming “Non Profit” called Reformed Rescues. I considered making a post about them a few weeks ago, but decided against it, as drama isn’t my niche, however with the current and dire situation we’re in with hundreds of homeless dogs in our community, I have to share this finally.

The dog pictured here is Bentley. Bentley was an owner surrender to Reformed Rescue in May 2024. Bentleys debut raised eyebrows, as they were advertising him for adoption him intact. The community came down on RR and started digging, finding out tons of things that I’m finally going to highlight here. I see this as a dangerous situation, that is very close to getting out of hand, if it’s not already. I want to point out, before I do that tho, that Bentley was finally adopted, although his story doesn’t seem to have a happy ending. Please read the last pic. 😢

Things we have learned about Reformed Rescues.

🚫 They advertise as a 501c3, for the purpose of obtaining donations, however they have not completed that process.

🚫 They finally did get Bentley neutered, only after the community blasted them, using the resources of other non profits, that are supposed to be for pet owners, not ‘rescues’.

🚫 They pulled a dog name Ophelia from Marshal County, under the guise of being a non-profit before that was actually completed. Ophelia was picked back up from Marshal County the very next day, when they realized that RR was lying about their credentials.

🚫 They do not do vet checks on potential adopters

🚫 They do not get landlord permission if the potential adopters are renters.

🚫. They don’t do home checks, or yard checks, never even asking if the potential adopter has a fenced yard.

🚫 They bash other rescues and shelters, saying their adoption rules are too strict.

🚫 A Cane Corso recently died in their care.

🚫They pulled another Corso, from NH!!! that has a bite history among other behavioral issues, that is now up for adoption on their page…. Bite history NOT disclosed.

🚫 Now it looks as though Bentley has been adopted, and dumped, and not yet been picked back up by RR.

We are in a crisis right now, we can’t afford to have places like this, pulling animals literally from STATES away, and distributing them among our community, unaltered, untrained, and to ppl that don’t even fit proper adoption guidelines. It seems that most of the dogs they take in have past behavioral problems, that are never disclosed on their page.

After our recent, very sad, situation with Cookie, I just feel like we have to be cautious and pay attention to the hands that these babies fall into.

This story is ever evolving. I will update this post as things change.

Just call him The Bone Collector.

I’ve been working with Roy and Lucy for almost a year. I’ve always known Roy to walk bent at the hip. He is physically unable to stand up straight due to his severe disc hemorrhages. He is very off-balance and always, always in pain. Lucy is a big girl with little to no leash training. She’s hard for me to manage sometimes and I honestly don’t know how he does it.
I can imagine that walking her makes his condition worse, and there’s absolutely no way he can do it while recovering from spinal fusions. Roy is initially looking for a temp foster (few months at least), but I know he would CONSIDER permanent placement if it became available. He just wants Lucy to have the best life. She is very sweet and very smart, but she does lack basic manners. She would need someone familiar with her breed to give her proper training. She is spayed and vaccinated, and I would provide all of her food and supplies needed for a foster situation. Please reach out if you have any questions or can take this pretty girl in.

COOKIE UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone that helped yesterday, there is an update on the situation with Cookie.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t good. Cookie was unable to be located. From what I understand, a man walking his dogs saw Cookie’s owner strike her with her hands and feet in a parking lot, and then watched her tie the dog to a light pole. She then got back into the passenger side of a vehicle and drove off. The man untied Cookie from the pole, and took her with him. I have been unsuccessful in finding this man.

I did make a call to RPD from the “owners” apartment complex with the hopes that the police would at the very least give this woman a verbal warning. I was accompanied by apartment staff, who also had information about the dumping of the dog.

This is how that interaction went, in a nutshell…. Officer Sharp told me that someone saw this happen last night and called RPD to report a woman tying a dog to a light pole. That person said they would find the dog a home, RPD told that person that they can do whatever they want with the dog and that was the end of it. No investigation. Today when they got a second report of this illegal activity (me), Officer Sharp met me at the apartment complex and referred to the incident as a “rehoming.” When I challenged him on why there was no investigation, he said that he already knew who the woman was and he took it upon himself to mentally diagnose Cookie’s owner as “crazy”. He said that he made the decision to not take any action against her because “a judge will take one look at her and know that she doesn’t have the mental capacity to make good decisions” and “it’ll never go anywhere in court”. (If only they would give the same energy to the unhoused population when they are “loitering” *existing)

He told me that Cookie is in a better place now (even though he has no idea where she is) and that since the dog is fine(again he has no idea), this is NOT considered animal endangerment or abuse in the eyes of the law, this is a simple rehoming and there is nothing else he can do.

There are other things about my interaction with Officer Sharp that I will be contacting the Department about, but in the spirit of keeping the focus of this post on Cookie, I will end it with this….

It’s up to us guys. We, as community members, are the ONLY thing standing between the animals and the predators. Even though we still don’t know where Cookie is, my heart is mended a tad just knowing that WE CAME TOGETHER FOR HER YESTERDAY. Thank you to everyone that messaged, called, drove around looking for her, shared this post, etc. I literally got a phone call from Louisville yesterday, with an offer to take Cookie in if we found her, and that’s on y’all. I could have never gotten the word that far by myself. Thank you. ♥️

…………………………………………………..

I try so hard to keep this page as positive as possible. I try so hard to advocate for the GOOD pup parents that just need a little help getting over a hump with their animal, which allows them to keep their fur baby and gives a little relief to the shelters and rescues. It is my PASSION to be a voice for the dogs that deserve to be loved by THEIR OWN people, and not surrendered or passed around, or DUMPED. But sometimes this stuff needs to highlighted as well.

I’m so fu***ng mad right now. I have no idea where this dog is, and I can only imagine that she is alone and scared on the streets on downtown Richmond. This is the dog that WE, as a community, nursed backed to health when she had a parvo scare a few weeks ago. She didn’t have to deal with that, WE did that for her.

I’m just at a loss for words right now. If you can’t so much as housetrain a dog, DONT GET ONE.

That being said, if anyone sees Cookie, please call me. 859-806-2618

LOOK AT THESE FACES!!!

They are so happy.... but they don't understand the situation their momma is in. I would tell them, but I don't want to break their spirit. I'm hoping this post will help find a way to a solution.

The owner if these 2 dogs, Abel and Cooper, has fallen on hard times. She has 2 children, and has recently become unhoused. Family members have offered to let her and her children stay with them until they get on their feet, but they are not able to take in the dogs too.

The owner, understanding that she has no choice, took these two bonded sweethearts to the animal shelter, and was turned away because as we all know, the shelter is not accepting owner surrenders at this time.

Because of this, she has been sleeping on the sidewalk with these babies since she had to leave her home. She allowed her children to stay with relatives of course, but it's been very hard for to be away from them. Please understand.... this isn't a choice she's making. THE DOGS HAVE NO WHERE TO GO. The only other option would be for her to dump them, and that’s not an option.

The owner loves these babies so very much, but she understands that at this time she has to prioritize her children and her family, so for these reasons, she's not asking for a foster. She is just asking that they go to good homes, preferably together, because they do depend on each other for emotional support, however that is not a deal breaker for her.

If you absolutely can not take 1 or both of these dogs, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!!! This needs to be seen far and wide. Until these babies go to new homes, the owner will be sleeping outside with them, unable to gain employment, obtain new housing options, or be with her children.

Thank you so much guys. I seriously do love my village. 🫶🏼

COOKIE UPDATE!! 🍪

Cookie is feeling much better after being treated for worms and spoiled a little bit by her new Auntie Kristall. 😉 Today she got 2 new stuffies, a Nylabone, and some tasty treats to go with the rest of her meds in hopes they will help settle her stomach a little.

Much thanks to Jackie Pullum and Casey Potter, for being my sounding board during this whole situation. And much thanks to everyone that shared Cookie’s original post and/or donated for her care. Because of you guys we have just enough money for her to be spayed and vaccinated as soon as the vet has an availability!!! Yay!!😁

I’ll say it again and I’ll say it again…
It takes a village, and we love ours!!

I’m gonna get on a rant with this one, so just bear with me….

This is Cookie. Cookie’s mom called me today and said that she has a dog (Cookie) that was found in the woods a week ago, that is showing signs of severe sickness. She knows that the dog needs medical attention , however since she has no money, it seems that the only way to save the dogs life (she suspected Parvo) would be to surrender her to the animal shelter. And she really did not want to do that.

She asked if I could help.

With the consultation of another friend in rescue, we decided that we should start with treatment of worms and see how that does, especially since that’s all I could afford out of pocket.

I took some dewormer over and administered that myself, as well as some wet food (to help entice her to eat) and told her to call me with updates.

Here’s my rant….

While she was concerned that she would have to surrender Cookie, I was concerned that she wouldn’t be able to. With the shelter above capacity (when I was there last month they had 97 dogs) they are no longer taking owner surrenders. They are no longer answering the phone. They have no resources to help the community at all….. they are DROWNING.

That being said, here’s a community member that is stepping up to give love and food and shelter to a pup that likely was dumped by someone else and she just needs a little help to make that happen. This is one less dog that would be taking up space in the pound. If she could just get over this hump.

I see posts every day of ppl Rehoming because of financial and behavioral problems. Problems that could be resolved with just a little HELP.

Today Cookie’s mom and I actually discussed euthanasia. Because she doesn’t want to see her suffer. That’s what it’s come to. That is cheaper than actually saving the life of the dog.

I had no money for a vet bill today. I have no donations saved up from my followers. But I did go to tractor supply and got some dewormer (not ideal I know but better than nothing at all) and a couple cans of wet food, $30 max. I could do that, and if more ppl did things like this, what a difference it would make. It’s gonna take US as a community to turn this around.

If this helps poor Cookie, I will be scheduling proper vaccines and spay for her. I will need help with that. I’m not a non profit, everything I do comes straight out of the pockets of myself and those that support my efforts.

If you want to contribute, my financials are
