It rained all morning so that put me behind in finishing the placement of the ducks for the winter.
I put them all together for the winter as that is easier on me. Springtime I separate by colors to keep them pure.
I will go through them again and pull the ones I’m keeping for myself then I’ll video the rest and start posting them so stay tuned and thank you for being patient with me.
I do have a waitlist I’ll go through before posting them to the public.
This is a process for sure.

Cooler Weather
The time is rapidly approaching for cooler weather.
What is the importance of cooler weather? What does it mean?
The importance of cooler weather is that breeders will start to ship their birds.
YAY!!! Such an exciting time for the buyers as well as the sellers.
Buyer Beware
There are so many scammers out there, unfortunately. You just need to do your due diligence and research the breeder you’ll be buying from.
Some ask for a deposit, some don’t. I do ask for a deposit that way I know the buyer is honestly interested and my baby will have a home to go to when the time is right.
Breeders will NEVER tell you that you’ll need to pay an additional cost for insurance or stall the delivery date again weather permitting-they won’t.
There are some breeders that will try their best to get you to not buy from another breeder. SHAME ON THEM! They need to take a class on morals and respecting others.
There are so many that I will give referrals for and a couple I will not. You wrong me or lie about me-I have nothing further to do with you.
I was reading an article recently and the author said “fall hunting” which is a real good description of what will be going on in the next month or two.
People will be looking for their dream birds.
Ask questions, ask all the questions you wish until you get your questions answered.
If a breeder doesn’t want to answer, I would move on to someone who is nicer and will give you the time to help answer your questions. There are many out there (myself included) who do not mind answering.
Ask for pics or videos.
If they don’t want to provide pics or videos, move on to someone who will (I provide each and as many as requested).
If you send a PM and I don’t get back to you at the very least within that day, send me another one. Sometimes fb is glitchy and it takes awhile to receive the PM.

Happy Fall Hunting. My wish for you is that you’re able to find some gorgeous ducks that you enjoy and have been looking for. 🥰

Normal Mandarins
Marbled Teals
Both of these are a wild species and require special accommodations. They are not like domestic ducks at all.
Should you be interested in either of these gorgeous ducks, just know I will be asking questions as I don’t want any of my babies to go to new homes that are not prepared for them.
To me the Mandarins are the most gorgeous ducks you’ll ever see.
Marbled Teals are an endangered species.

I do raise crested calls but am keeping all of them this year but keep me in mind for next year.

Awwwww singleton Hottentot Teal hatched early this morning. 🥰
They are SO very tiny!! I’m glad I had some call ducklings to keep it company.
The calls are a couple days old.

Pastels are starting to explode in the hatcher (they are hatching like popcorn) 🥰 I love this color of call duck. Who am I kidding? I love several colors. Lol

I got quite the surprise a little bit ago.
I always change out the brooders water for the night (3 of them are full) and had turned to check the humidity of the incubators. One needed a little water but then something moved!
Two babies had hatched!!
I had just candled the eggs two days ago. Nowhere near close to pipping.
They proved me wrong.
They are now in the hatcher along with more eggs!
I’m super excited about this clutch.

These two got into their mash food so I put them into my bathroom sink and dunked them under to get the food off them. It’s warmish water. They loved it
I have several normal mandarins and Marbled Teal who will be looking for new ponds. TIf you’re not already, may I suggest you jump on my waitlist as it is filling up fast. If you aren’t familiar with or have never had either of these exotic species I’m going to suggest for you to do your research as they are not like domestic ducks and have special requirements. This is some of them.
I’m out of state working this week but my “bird watcher, aka sister” sent this to me. Lady Amherst pheasants. More are in the hatcher just awaiting their arrival.
