On Day 2, we had this cutie in. This is Mochi Bean...our first dog spay surgery in our new space! Here she is - striking a pose and getting lots of love from her owners before heading home.

We're 8 days in at our new 'home' in Pinole. Loving our new space and have found our groove in our daily flow.

Big thanks to Alimentari Aurora for generously donating this crate of their seafood favorites for our Silent Auction. is a petite deli with a curious kitchen in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. In addition to stocking hard-to-find Italian 🇮🇹 groceries and making delicious sandwiches 🥪, Alimentari Aurora is home to FishTinXOXO, a monthly tinned fish subscription, a sustainable way to enjoy the very best seafood from around the world (and as you can see, the selections were thoroughly inspected and approved by our local seafood expert 😼).

Big thank you to Cecilia Morse and friends/neighbors for contributing beautiful pieces from their travels for AFC's online silent auction.
Together, they care for the cat colony in their neighborhood, successfully fixing the whole colony by trapping and having them spayed/neutered at AFC!

We're so grateful for the support of the Bay Area communities AFC serves.

For our silent auction beginning September 30th, Wilderdog has generously contributed this collection of pawsome gear for dogs on adventures! 🏕️🐾

We are so grateful to Tavo for sending us their Maeve 3-in-1 Pet Protection System, and are thrilled that it will go to a lucky winning AFC supporter, helping cats and dogs in need. AFC’s silent auction fundraiser goes live September 30th.

The Maeve System includes a premium pet stroller, vehicle base, and safety-tested pet car seat which is also a comfortable carrier bed. The carrier comes with 2 pads and zippered liners that are all easily machine washable, and the soft interior allows for safe and comforting transport during stress-inducing moments.

Super sweet Jean-Luc is healing well after surgery! This Saving Grace Rescue Inc kitten came in with two damaged legs, one of which needed to be amputated. We can’t wait to see how well he does as a tripod cat! You can see more of Jean-Luc on Saving Grace’s page — warning, there are some “before” pictures which are graphic.

Tulip the tiny tripod is healing up well! Nothing can stop this Saving Grace Rescue Inc kitten now.

Access to Affordable Surgery for Bay Area Cats and Dogs

Since 1998 Fix Our Ferals in Richmond, CA has served tens of thousands of San Francisco Bay Area low-income residents and partnered with many regional animal welfare organizations. Our mission is to humanely end overpopulation of cats and dogs in the Bay Area by making spay/neuter (SN) and crucial surgery accessible to them, regardless of their caretakers’ ability to pay. We promote trap-neuter-return (TNR) of free-roaming community cats and are part of the progressive animal welfare movement to keep cats and dogs out of crowded shelters by reducing populations of free-roaming cats and returning them to their colonies, and keeping companion cats and dogs in their homes. We believe that the cost of veterinary surgery should not be why a pet guardian should surrender their cat or dog to a shelter or why free-roaming cats continue to reproduce and later occupy space in over-crowded shelters, where they will likely be euthanized.
