When I aid with any pet care related service…
these are very important items to me. Each animal is an individual care plans can vary based on the pet response.
Whether it is ear care, nail trims, blood pressure checks, or subcutaneous fluids. Close observation is necessary about how your pet is handling a specific situation.
Plans of care may need to be tweaked and adjusted to make your pet as comfortable as possible. Every day is different, just like with us humans. We have good and not so good days.
I aim to work with your pet and you together as a teamto achieve continued care goals.
I am here.
To aid when possible at home.
I am happy to be a resource for in home care when possible. Whether it is routine wellness, drop in visits, or medical needs.
Know someone that can use aid at home with pet care....
Please share.

Inspiration and motivation.
Recently I was asked to be keynote speaker at my highschool for an academic banquet! I talked about all things vet med, what I did and learned over the past 30 years, and how I now use my experiences from the field now as an extension to pets in a home setting where they feel most comfortable.
When I worked in general practice…
There were many days during work that I would be educating and being a mentor to many upcoming veterinary nurses and even future veterinarians. Some are working in the field in town and across the country. I still have the thank you letters from back in the day when students would shadow me.
I am so grateful to have been part of their world…. now they are making impact in their own way.
When new techs started at work or students came into perform internships. I was happy to guide them and help them understand the “ why’s’ and understand the vital role a veterinary technician play’s in the hospital.
Class of 89. Iroquois High
They put my highschool pic on the little brochure 😂 make sure you zoom on the bow in my hair...that was the thing back then....

Surgical recovery nutrtion is important! Sometimes pets may need enticement in order to get in the protein and calories needed for wound healing! Some ways to try to get your pet interested in eating after surgery are:
* Warm dry food up.
*Try small pieces of cooked rotisserie chicken.
* Baby food: ham, chicken, turkey, or beef ...make sure product has no onion in it as this can be toxic to cats and dogs.
*Add low sodium chicken broth or clam juice to dry food.
As an additional note, if you feel you are having trouble getting your pet to eat, there are appetite stimulants that may be able to be prescribed by your veterinarian
Every case is unique and every pet recovers differently. Please be sure to consult your veterinarian if you are questioning nutrtional intake post operatively.

Dental care of dogs and cats is one of the most commonly overlooked areas of pet health care. In fact, approximately two-thirds of pet owners do not provide the dental care that is recommended by their veterinarian. You know how great your mouth feels after your annual dental cleaning at the dentist's office? Your pet's mouth feels pretty much the same way after annual cleaning by your veterinarian. ...... Imagine if you came home from the cleaning and then didn't brush your teeth again until you went in for your dental cleaning the next year? Not only would you derive no benefit from the cleaning, never be able to improve your dental health, most probably suffer in not so silent pain, but no one would want to be near your mouth, including you! It is NO different for your pet. Your pet's dental care doesn't rest with your veterinarian alone. As a pet owner, you play a pivotal role in helping ensure your pet's dental health through daily dental care at home. FACT..... Do you know that it takes only 8 hours for new plaque to form in your pet's mouth? But after professional cleaning, you have the clean slate to help keep soft plaque from forming; plaque, which if not removed becomes hard tartar leading to inflammation and painful gum disease. THAT BEING SAID..... Let me help you determine which avenue of dental care will work best for your pet and how to get the job done. I am here to help! #provettechofnwpa #womenowned #smallbusiness #tuesday #erie

Look at Tee! This big boy did wonderful for nail care by use of the Dremel tool. Getting him adjusted to have this procedure performed went smoothly. Tee also has some arthritis going on with his toes so extra gentle care was necessary when handling these areas. No car trip needed, we took care of those little toes at home! Good job Tee and Mom! #wednesday #gooddog #erieCVT #goodboy #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinesswomen
Canine ear facts! If a dog has had multiple ear infections, the ear anatomy can change and make it more likely to get infections in the future. 15 to 20% of dogs are affected by ear infections. Every dog is unique when it comes down to how often it should/needs to have the ear canal cleaned and what type of cleaner should be used. * Dogs have ears which have evolved to be self-cleaning. The skin grows outwards and carries debris towards the opening of the ear, like a conveyor belt. *The external ear canal is L-shaped with a vertical canal, then a horizontal canal, leading up to the ear drum (the membrane separating the delicate hearing and balance organs from the outside environment). *The ear canal is lined with skin glands (secreting ear wax), and in many cases with hair. Unfortunately, the shape of the ear means that sometimes the self-cleaning mechanism is not as effective as it should be, allowing dirt and ear wax to build up. Ear disease can also upset this. * Cleaning removes debris, such as wax, that may cause irritation of the ear canal. *Cleaning removes material that may interfere with the “self cleansing” mechanism. *Cleaning may help to lower the burden of bacteria in the ear. If you would like to get on a routine plan for general ear care or would like to learn how! I am available... It is all about the ears! #Eriesmallbusiness #seniorpets #petnurse #dogs #thursdaythoughts
90% of cats over age 10 are affected by Osteoarthritis, making it the most common chronic disease cats face. This disease is chronic and progressive, it can definitely impact the quality of life of your cat. Once a cat is diagnosed with OA, it is important to understand that the focus is management rather than cure. Success means maximizing your cat's comfort and function while minimizing pain. This condition can also be noted in cats younger than 10, it is important to pay attention closely as they age to get used to seeing what is normal for them regarding mobility and behavior. Subtle changes can happen...and they can be easy to miss until symptoms are advanced. Watch this informative video regarding feline pain. This is also something I can aid with as part of a senior wellness check-in between vet visits. Changes can happen, stay on top of this very important topic with feline health! cats and OA disease #petknow #eriepa #seniorpets #petnurse #Eriesmallbusiness #cat #felinefriends
