My name is Baylee.

Yes I am a major cutie.

I am around 3 years old and 11 lbs.

If you like Dachshunds, you might be thinking… “she is what I have been waiting for all my life!”

But, if you submit an application, you need to know some truth about me. This is not to scare you away but this is to be transparent and honest about my current state of mind!

I was born into a puppy mill and used by them for who knows how many litters. I likely didn’t receive much if any god human attention and for sure, I didn’t receive love and affection. I was likely kept in a crate for most of my life… who knows if I was even provided fresh food and water on a daily basis. This is the life of a puppy mill dog and I lived it for my whole life of 3 years.

I was saved by a wonderful group who pulled me and a few of my “friends” from this terrible situation.

I am not your everyday dog or will not fulfill what most people expect from a dog right off the bat. I am going to need time, time and more time. I am going to run from you when you approach me. I am not going to come when you call my name. I won’t climb in your lap willingIy. I may go to the bathroom outside but I will need even more time to figure out a routine and where to do my business consistently.

I will let you pick me up if I get close enough to you but if you pick me up without being extra gentle, I will get uncomfortable.

I will be good with your dogs and cats and I will be happiest in a home with one or two other friendly canines.

I will NOT bite you - I am not a biter - but of course, any dog will use their teeth if they are pushed.

I will pick a safe spot and use it.

I won’t enjoy young children and I shouldn’t be expected to be a child’s companion dog. Kids 12+ is more my speed and their expectations also need to be set.

Most importantly, I WILL come around.

We aren’t sure what kind of time it will take but it will certainly not be days and it will certainly not be weeks. It will be months, maybe a year, maybe two years.

I need someone that is willing to wait for my transformation and won’t give up on me because I am not a “normal dog.”

I know I can do it, I know I can be a lapdog, I know I can figure out that affection and love and hugs and kisses are good things.

I know I can live without fear and enjoy freedom. I need that angel to come my way.
