Congratulations to “Baloo” & “Luna” as well as their families for completing the ✨AKC STAR Puppy Program✨this past weekend at Discover Your Dog!

We had an eventful 6 weeks, from confidence and relationship building to setting the stage for continued obedience!

This pair of biological Great Pyrenese mix siblings (owned in different homes) TRIPLED in size throughout their program! Training begins the moment you bring a new puppy home but especially when you know that puppy may one day outweigh you…..

PUPDATE!
“Artichoke” (fka Bruno) from the Newington Animal Control has made INCREDIBLE progress in the short time I have had him. He is a poster child for dogs presenting with behavioral issues while behind a shelter fence. Animal control officers truly do everything in their power to provide the best for the dogs in their care. The unfortunate reality is that the shelter environment alone can bring out big feelings that would not present otherwise making them view poorly to potential adopters.

We visited Mystic Village yesterday afternoon and it was definately more crowded than expected but we went in with a plan as always. To be honest, I expected set backs, reactivity, etc.
“Arti” absolutely blew me away. He made dozens of human friends including my 5 year old sister Meadow, passed his ball to anyone who was willing to give him a toss, walked through busy crowds, observed other leashed dogs and small animals (ducks & squirrels), and even sat patiently during an outdoor lunch at a public restaurant. Throughout the entire outing he was patient, confident, and above all else, visibly happy.

He is not perfect (although pretty close). We still have lots of work to do both medically and mentally but for a dog who only had hours left on his clock, he has proven beyond explanation that proper environment and appropriate outlets can change the course of any life.

In love is an understatement.
I am beyond proud of him.

It is a good day to be FREE! 🤩
After having the only life he knew turned completely on its head, this handsome fellow was scheduled to face his fate yesterday afternoon….

Since his freedom ride yesterday morning, he has made 3 more human friends, 3 canine friends, got a full check up at the vet, played LOTS of ball, and at what the vet estimated to be 7 years old, his first pup cup ever. We have a long road of training and medical care ahead of us before he is available for adoption but one thing is for sure, it is a good day to be free. Stay tuned for more updates.
I love him to pieces already.
